Abura’s arms stretched outward at an incredible speed. Even though Kazuki expected this, it still left him slightly startled. Seeing someone so large move so quick was just odd.

Just as Abura’s hands appeared as though they would encircle Kazuki, something from below burst forth.

*SCReeeeeee*

Mei had hidden under the snow, the moment Abura moved, she transformed into her Mangshi bird form and grabbed Abura with her taloned foot. Abura had no idea what had happened but now he felt his fat being squeezed ever so tightly and the air within his lungs became compressed and hurt.

He struggled for breath and spoke with a worried tone.

“What, what’s going on, you tricked me.”

Kazuki shook his head and his hands began to flash several ancient hand symbols all at once.

“I told you you would want to listen to me but you refused. I see that your mind is simple and I might have been able to let you off but it’s clear you are Muteki’s dog no matter what.”

A blue flame appeared over Kazuki’s hand.

“Die!”

All the hair on Abura’s body stood up at once as he felt the fear of death loom over him.

“Nooooo!”

Just as Kazuki flicked his flame over, Abura inhaled deeply. His lungs filled with air and although it was painful due to Mei’s vice-like grip, he did it anyway. Closing his mouth until there was only a small opening left, he blew out with tremendous force. Magic wrapped his breath and as he fired this air from his mouth, the small hole he made with his mouth created a tremendous amount of pressure. As the blue flame nearly hit him, his breath impacted it first and shot it back at Kazuki.

Kazuki didn’t expect this and was hit in the shoulder and was knocked back, sending him rolling down the hill he stood on.

Abura took this opportunity to fight back. With his arms held at his side because of Mei’s talons, Abura could only use his legs. Squatting down, he gathered a torrent of air around him and took a step forward. His heavy body and Mei’s lightened considerably from the air. He turned and took a step down the hill. With a single step, his weight affected Mei who still had a broken wing. A torrent of wind kicked up from behind Mei and began to push her from behind. With that, Abura got just enough momentum to start running down the hill.

Mei tried to flap her one good wing to counter Abura’s pull but he controlled the wind while she was just allowed to glide on it and have it carry and lift her from her feathers. Abura began to pick up speed and Mei’s only good wing was pushed up with the wind. She lost her balance and had to counter with another large flap or she would fall backward. As soon as she did that though, Abura stopped his wind and reversed the direction it blew in. Instead of countering her flap, he aided her.

He gave her so much wind that instead of falling backward, she was thrown forward, headfirst toward the ground. She quickly released Abura before she hit the ground. This is exactly what Abura wanted. He leaped into the air and flipped into the sky. Turning around in mid-air he folded his arms in front of his chest.

“No one is allowed to trick me!”

Wind gathered over top his hands and he chopped toward Mei’s defenseless self.

*Fwhoosh*

Just as several wind blades Were about to be thrown at Mei, Tsura swooped in and rammed into Abura’s thick body.

His wind blades were slightly diverted but still managed to hit Mei’s already broken wing. The pain shot through her wing and she fell back. Blood spilled out from her broken wing as her feathers, although incredibly hard, couldn’t stand up against Abura’s sharp blades.

Tsura had crashed into Abura and sent him tumbling backward in the air. Abura caught himself and stared hatefully at Tsura.

“You stupid birds are so stupid. Always attacking me. Fine, I’ll get you back and then I’m gonna eat some overgrown chickens.”

Tsura landed at the bottom of the hill and felt as though her ears were ringing. She had found that Abura’s body was quite tough. Ramming into him felt like she slammed into a wall of steel. She had knocked him back only because of her own large body and the speed she was going at and the fact that he hadn’t noticed her in time. Otherwise, it might have been her that was sent flying.

Tsura didn’t like fighting Abura and was against it from the start but Kazuki knew that they couldn’t outrun Abura. Abura was already incredibly fast. Add to the fact that Tsura was carrying Kazuki, Mei, and Nunully, her speed was greatly reduced. It was simple logic that Abura would catch up. The best choice they had was to take him by surprise and kill him fast. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. Nunully waited out of sight, while Tsura hovered high above, watching and waiting before things took the turn they did.

*SCReeeeeee*

Tsura released a long cry, sealing the sound around Abura. It robbed him of his hearing. It wouldn’t do much but right now, Tsura and the others would take any advantage they could get.

Abura slapped the side of his head, wondering where his hearing had gone. This was a momentary distraction but, Tsura took it. She took to the skies and rushed forward. This, however, was not enough time to secure an attack. Abura noticed her right away. She was only a few feet away but Abura already chopped at the air in front of him. Two blades of wind formed an X in front of him and shot forward.

“DODGE IT!”

Kazuki’s scream rang out from the hill but it was already too late.

*Shinck*

Two large blades of wind landed upon Tsura’s chest simultaneously. The cut deeply into her flesh and left horrible gashes. With her momentum bringing her forward she went limp. Abura nodded matter of factly as though he had expected this outcome. Though as she fell near Abura, her large mouth suddenly snapped open revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth.

*Chomp*

Tsura’s mouth clamped down and tore a chunk of flesh from his shoulder.

Abura screamed in terror before firing several more blades of wind into Tsura’s body.

*Shinck Shinck Shinck Shinck Shinck*

In a pure panic, he stabbed her repeatedly until her mouth loosened and she fell to the ground like a rag doll.

*Thud*

Her body hit the ground and she moved no more. This had all happened so fast, that Mei barely had any time to realize what had just transpired. She released a desperate cry into the sky and tried to fly over but her broken wing would not allow her. Finally, she transformed back into her human form and ran over in tears. Her arm hung loosely and broken at her side. Still, this pain was nothing compared to what she felt in her heart.

Before she reached her mother’s side, however, Abura landed in front of her. He towered over her completely and looked down at her with an expression twisted with both pain and anger. Tears streamed down his face and the blood had rushed to his head. The sight of all this made him look insane.

*Fwoosh*

A blue fireball flew towards his face but Abura blew it away once again with his breath. He turned and looked at Kazuki before he turned back and stared down at the frightened Mei.

“You won’t come with me and you all trick me and gang up on me. No more!”

Abura made a fist and a swirl of wind wrapped around it. Before Mei could do anything, he punched her square in the face. Blood sprayed out of her head and she flew several feet in the air before she landed limply on the ground.

“STOP!”

Kazuki hadn’t expected this type of cruelty from the child-like Abura. He had been naive to think Abura wouldn’t go so hard against Mei and that had been one of the reasons he had used her in the ambush. He saw now that Abura like everyone else would lose it once there anger got ahold of him.

Abura ignored Kazuki’s shout and approached the unconscious Mei. Kazuki could see only murder in his eyes and reached for a nearby rock and threw it. Abura didn’t blow this away and simply caught it. Staring at Kazuki, his voice sounded more like a growl.

“What?”

“I thought it was me you were after. Didn’t Muteki send you my way to capture me? Why are you trying to kill someone who’s no longer a threat?”

Kazuki’s words cooled some of Abura’s anger.

“Won’t your boss be pissed at you if you don’t follow his instructions.”

Kazuki could see that his words were working but he still needed another push.

“If you don’t want to be in trouble, I suggest you catch me before it’s too late.”

This statement got Abura’s fool attention and he yelled.

“What do you mean before it’s too late, what does that mean?”

Kazuki saw that he got him. Without saying another word, Kazuki turned around and disappeared behind the hill. Giving a look at the nearby woods, he saw Nunully out of the corner of his eye.

(She should help them. Now I just have to figure out how to deal with this round beast.)

Abura saw Kazuki vanish over the hill and alarm bells went off in his head. His whole reason for being out here was to capture Kazuki. If he disappeared now, Abura didn’t have to think twice about the trouble he would be in if he didn’t fulfill his mission. A torrent of wind gathered under Abura’s feet and he flew up into the sky and gave chase.
