Some light had finally been shed on the situation.

(So he simply wants his money.)

Kazuki was more than a little annoyed with Degra and he felt played.

Kazuki’s ring flashed and thousands of gold Zeni fell out and piled up on the floor.

“You want your money back, fine, take it.”

Kazuki had already admitted he cheated. He knew even if he didn’t, Degra would have killed this dealer of his just to make a point. If all he wanted was the money back, Kazuki could just go somewhere else and make it in no time. He didn’t need some innocent young lady’s life on his conscious.

After all the money finished piling up into a good-sized stack, Degra only looked at it for a moment before he turned his gaze away from it with no interest. To him, this money was nothing, something he could make in a few minutes sitting on his ass. No, what he was interested in was the man who fooled even his eyes.

“The money is already yours. Even if you leave it here or throw it away, it doesn’t change the fact that you owe me.”

“Excuse me.”

Degra’s words didn’t drag and he spoke matter of factly.

“You heard me. You owe me and this money is not acceptable as payment. No, you will pay me in other ways. You will do this for me until I say your debt is repaid or you and your friends, all of you will not make out of here alive.”

Nunully grew worried but she saw that Kazuki was still relaxed and her heart eased a bit. Tsura and Mei simply glared daggers at Degra. Kazuki, on the other hand, began to spread out his ki but instead of stretching it out towards Degra, he poured it out towards the door and covered it. At the same time, Kazuki held out a hand in front of him and gathered some energy. Smiling at Degra, Kazuki spoke coldly.

“No, you are mistaken. This gold is yours and even if you wanted me to take it, unfortunately, my flask can’t carry all of this.”

Degra didn’t know what Kazuki meant but the very next moment he saw Kazuki make a gesture in the air and a large blue flame materialized above Kazuki’s palm and grew until it was the size of a head. Degra felt his eyes burn to look at its center and withdrew his gaze.

Gently overturning his hand, the hovering blue flame fell softly on top of the gold pile. As soon as flame met metal…

*Chsssssh*

Sparks flew and jumped all over the place. With a simple thought, Kazuki controlled these sparks and contained them, preventing them from burning the place. At the same time, the stack of gold Zeni melted in seconds. The flame was so hot that everyone except Kazuki felt there skin sting from just its presence alone. Were they any closer, the heat alone would have scorched their skin. Degra narrowed his eyes and he and the guard behind him were forced to take a step back.

The gold melted in only a few seconds but before it could spread out in a puddle, the floor beneath it melted and gave way. It was made from stone but it could stand the heat for barely a few seconds before the stone turned into liquid and both part of the floor and the liquid gold fell through the floor entirely. Kazuki had stretched his ki through the floor a moment before and made sure no one was directly beneath them before he did this just in case. What he didn’t plan on though was the fact that the molten gold was finished and began to melt through the floor under that.

The people below were already screaming and running around in a panic from this but no one was hurt. Kazuki though didn’t know if anyone below the next floor was in the way or not. Thankfully though, the molten gold spread out far too much and the heat was dispersed some. The floor just started to melt but it held up. A few Mages rushed over and several waves of water washed over and sprayed down the gold, cooling it and hardening it.

Smoke rose up through the floor in front of Kazuki and hid him from Degra’s sight. Kazuki sighed inwardly but put on a devilish expression as he hopped over the new hole in the floor and appeared out from the smoke. Degra didn’t know what to make of this.

“You want me to work for you but I don’t work for anyone. Were you to try and force my hand, I’m afraid I would then be forced to backstab you when you least expect it. You see, I heard very recently that you were in fact on the verge of entering the 4th stage. What would happen I wonder to you. I’ve seen your men and none of them can stand up to me. Only you seem to be any real challenge. So who will protect you? Even if I don’t attack, I hear there are a few other organizations that rival your own. If you try and hold me here, you just can’t do it. You could take these women hostage but I will surely be able to escape and then I will help your enemies destroy you.”

Degra could listen to this no more. He snapped his fingers and the woman at his side drew her sword and rushed forward. Degra as well-formed a sword of dark energy but as his female guard rushed forward he noticed something. Before the female guard even swung her sword, Kazuki threw out a simple front kick and landed it square in her chest. The woman spit up blood and crashed into a nearby wall, her body went limp like a noodle.

Degra looked between Kazuki and his door.

(Shit, why are they not coming in?)

Degra’s henchmen should have raced inside and attacked Kazuki as soon as he snapped his fingers but for some reason, they didn’t come. He once again snapped his finger but again nothing. He snapped again and again but still nothing. His eyes focused on the door and could see that Kazuki’s strange energy completely covered it.

(Is he blocking the sound?)

Degra tested it and shouted but still, there was no reaction from the other side of the door.

Kazuki spread out his arms and two more head-sized blur fireballs formed above his hands.

“Sorry but your screams, only we few inside here can here you. Out there, even if they had super hearing, they wouldn’t notice anything even if thunder boomed nonstop. Right now, you are completely cut off.”

Degra backed away until his he felt his back touch the wall.

(This monster, he was holding even more back. This flame, it liquified gold in seconds. Were it to touch my flesh…)

Degra felt stinging on his front from the heat of Kazuki’s flames and cold sweat on running down his spine.

(I…I can’t beat him. He’s going to kill me.)

Degra felt impending doom and he recalled how cocky and confident he had been just a second ago and regretted making his threats.

Kazuki as well wasn’t as confident as he appeared. He really didn’t want to risk Mei, Nunully, and Tsura becoming hostages. He also knew if he did, in fact, kill Degra right here and now then once they left this small office, his men waiting just outside would attack full force. Kazuki was confident in making his own way out of here alive but as for Mei and the others he wasn’t so sure. Therefore he went for the other route in this stupid mess.

Keeping the same fiendish expression, he came off threateningly and spoke with nothing but confidence.

“Heres what’s going to happen. Me and mine will be taking our leave here shortly and you will not get in the way. If you try to stop us, even if you try to dodge one of my flames, can you dodge the other or more that will inevitably follow? Even if you can evade all of them, your casino will not survive and I’m sure a shit ton of your people will go down with this place. Not only will your foundation be rocked heavily and weakened but once I leave here, I’ll be sure to let all of your enemies know of your sudden weakness. Once we leave here, I will forget about you and you…I’m sure will do your best to forget about me.”

The two flames in Kazuki’s hands shrunk visibly by half and turned into a fiery orangish-red. The heat they gave off was reduced significantly and a moment later Kazuki clasped his hands and the two flames were snuffed out. Turning around, Kazuki grabbed Mei and Nunully by the hand and led them out.

Nunully wanted to take the unconscious dealer with them but Kazuki said no.

“His point has been made. She should be fine. If we take her with us, he will assume we actually do care for her and may try to use her again like he did today. No, it’s best to cut ties completely.”

Tsura followed after and the four stepped into the hallway. With the ki no longer covering the door and the door open, sound could again pass through, though not even a peep escaped from inside.

The guards saw the four walking out but didn’t hear from their boss and surrounded Kazuki and the others. Degra could see all of this with his eyes and quickly called out from inside his office.

“STAND DOWN! GET OUT OF THEIR WAY AND DON’T ANY OF YOU DARE SO MUCH AS LAY A FINGER ON THEM!”

The guards swiftly lowered their weapons and got out of the way. It was rare for them to hear their boss yell and took it as seriously as possible.

Kazuki did his best to not rush out of there, lest he shoe he was bluffing. They were shown another way out of the underground and disappeared back into Gentis city. When they finally had gotten back to the surface, Kazuki sighed in relief and thought.

(If Degra was in the right mind he would have noticed the flaw in my threat. After all the floor had a large gaping hole. If he shouted for help through the floor, surely his men would have heard him and rushed up here. Too bad though, his sense of reason had left him and had been replaced with fear. I guess I can be scary when I need to be, hahaha.)

Several figures appeared on a frozen hillside. In the distance, Gentis city fell into sight.

*Sniff sniff*
