Right after Kazuki left, Degra regained his cool and realized he was played.

(If he could have killed me then why not just do it. Why did he allow me to live? Could it be because he couldn’t actually take my life?)

Degra smiled confidently before his eyes landed upon the large gaping hole in the floor and he felt his overconfidence oozing from himself and felt stupid.

(No, that flame of his was no joke. I’ve only seen fire get that hot one other time from that man in the Jin Kingdom. King Tobern’s right-hand man, Bozek. Could the two be related? If so, for what reason is this outsider in the land of Treia…Spy!)

Degra began to jump to his own conclusions. He wondered why he had never heard of or seen someone like Kazuki and concluded that he must have been from another kingdom.

(For such a man to disguise not only himself but his companions as well already shows that their hiding something. Not only that but he keeps two pets with him with that type of strength and his other female companion is clearly half-elf. In Treia, everyone knows how people view other species. We all know how those at the top hunt and kill any species that isn’t fully human and yet this man travels with such a person. Yes, he must be a spy but for what purpose? What would bring them to this far city close to the end of this Kingdom?)

Degra couldn’t come to a solid conclusion from here but he knew whatever Kazuki was doing here it couldn’t be good. Degra wondered if he could use this as an opportunity to make a move on the entire city itself. Snapping his fingers, Degra called in his top experts.

Using the same recording crystal orb from earlier, Degra showed everyone in the room the video of Kazuki and Mei and froze on their image. He then took out another two recording crystal orbs that had been watching Nunully and Tsura while they were off exploring his casino. Once all of their images were shown, Degra ordered.

“Eyes out and ears to the ground. I want all of you and your men to find these four people. Be careful though because they may change their disguises. For example…”

Degra pointed at the image of Kazuki and said.

“This old man with a hunch on his back is actually a young man with incredible strength. His strength is comparable with mine so do not engage him. Do not engage any of them.”

One of the men awkwardly raised his hand and asked.

“Boss, so you just want us to watch these four and follow them around the city. Isn’t that kinda…”

The man wanted to finish his words but the glare Degra gave him, caused him to swallow them back down. The man wanted to say this job seemed beneath him and the others in the room, after all, they were the experts of Degra’s operation and they had, between them all, hundreds of people working below them that could do the same job. Seeing Degra’s look though, ice seemed to form on the man’s spine as he now realized that this was more serious then he thought.

“This is no joke, these people may, in fact, be spies from another Kingdom, possibly from the far east.”

Degra said this and the men and women in his office grew somewhat irritated and angry as a few started to whisper and murmur among them.

“Those bastards. It must be the Jin Kingdom then.”

“King Tobern, what could he want all the way over here in this frozen wasteland?”

“Shut your mouth, what wasteland. Gentis city is a powerhouse in its own right. If they’re making a move on us here, it’s obviously to try and weaken Treia as a whole. Wait until King Garn finds out about this, he’ll crush them once and for all.”

Degra’s black blade of energy formed in his hand almost instantly and he sliced his desk in half. The two sides of the desk crashed heavily into the floor and Degra shouted at his dogs to be silent. Everyone stood stiff and didn’t dare to utter a word.

“Now listen here all of you, this information isn’t going to the capital. If things work out right, this city will finally be mine. If I find out one of you leaked this out…”

Degra held up his dark blade and slowly lowered it on top of his broken desk. As soon as the two connected, the desk began to melt and degrade at a visible rate. Not from heat but the wood the desk was made from was actually rotting before all of their eyes. They all firmly got the message and swallowed hard.

“I want you all to follow them and watch them. Do not interact with them or engage in any way shape or form. Whatever they do I must know about it in real-time so you all will have your go-betweens informing me and reporting to me at every free moment. Also, I’m sure I don’t have to say it but our enemies should not get wind of this no matter what. You will all need to act accordingly and make everything seem like business as usual. In this way, if things do go down, they will be left with their asses hanging out and we can fully take advantage.”

Degra waved his hand and ordered.

“Go!”

All of his underlings left at their top speeds and called their own men and like that, the rats scattered throughout the city.

*Sniff sniff*

Abura’s red eyes glowed red. Lifting his hand he pointed to Gentis city int he distance and opened his mouth.

“Heeees…therrrrrr.”

Abura’s voice was garbled and barely understandable but Reya felt excited and nodded her head.

“Good good you big fatty. It seems your words are starting to get better.”

Reya made a blade from her left hand and slashed at her right hand.

*Thud*

Reya’s right hand fell down into the snow. She didn’t even flinch and felt nothing from it whatsoever. The next moment…

*Gshh*

A new right hand grew and replaced the empty spot there good as new. Reya picked up her removed right hand with her new right hand and tossed the old one to Abura.

Abura’s mouth opened wide as though he had unhinged his jaws and he caught the entire hand in his mouth. With a few quick chews, only now did he seem to show any emotion at all before he swallowed the right hand down in a single gulp.

Abura opened his mouth once more and said.

“Moreee.”

Reya shook her head.

“No, you’ve had plenty. Keep getting smart and I might consider it.”

Reya looked off into the distance and observed Gentis city.

(So he’s hiding in there. Don’t think those meat shields will keep you protected from me little Kazuki. As soon as I get a hold of you, as soon as my hand grasps you, I will crush you on the spot.)

Abura stared at Reya’s back, something odd flashing in his eyes. Turning around, he looked at Sam and the others. He slowly walked over toward them. As soon as Sam saw this he punched Abura in the face and crushed his nose and fractured his cheekbones. Abura stumbled backward a few steps but even Sam’s strength wasn’t enough to drop him.

Abura’s face quickly started to heal. Nowhere as ridiculously fast as Reya but it was still obvious to the naked eye. Abura felt no pain whatsoever and started to walk over to Sam and the others once again. Shin got pissed and yelled.

“Oy, your fat fucking pet is trying to eat us again. If you don’t stop him don’t blame us when Kazuki doesn’t want to trade that stupid compass for nothing because at this rate there will be nothing left of us, not even bones. Oy! Are you listening to me you stupid cunt!”

Reya was pulled from her thoughts in displeasure.

She walked up behind Abura and grabbed the back of his neck and with ease, she lifted him off of the ground. Abura began to struggle in her grasp like a spoiled child kicking his feet in a tantrum.

“Didn’t I already say you’ve had plenty. How can you have such an appetite? Even for an Azirian, it’s too much. How many bears, deer, and other creatures did you have along the way?

Reya was more than annoyed at this point. Abura at first had listened to her every word when she first turned him into an Azirian but for some reason, the more he ate, the more he no longer followed her every word. Multiple times when he got hungry, he would try and devour Sam and the others. Just thinking about the first time it happened late at night around the fire. Had she not acted, she would have lost one of the girls to him. She felt more then agitated thinking about this. She still didn’t know if these people could be used to bargain with or used as a distraction for Kazuki to lower his guard but it was getting increasingly more difficult to keep them alive.

She forgot how humans needed to eat and sleep so frequently. They also had little stamina. She got pissed when they needed to rest after only 7-8 hours of running. What she didn’t know was that most humans can’t continually run near their top speed for hours on end. However, out of all of this, the most annoying thing was Abura.

She had turned this fatty but for some reason, his brain didn’t work so well. She wondered if this guy was an imbecile when he was alive. He was the one leading them to Kazuki yet even though he had limitless stamina, he was slowing them all down the most. He had to eat huge meals for some reason. Once he caught the smell of a large animal, he would change direction mid-route and hunt it down. Reya tried to curve this habit of his by taking his meal away but if he didn’t eat, Abura would freeze up. He would actually sit or lay down and roll around doing nothing else.

Reya would beat him, tear off his limbs rip out his intestines, and break his bones again and again. Abura was now an Azirian though and felt almost no pain. All of this torment, he felt none of it and would heal all f his wounds without concern. Reya finally gave in and had no choice but to feed Abura. He was her only guide to Kazuki. Without him, she would lose Kazuki’s whereabouts and fail her Master. That was something she absolutely couldn’t allow.

So going against her own personality she had to treat Abura somewhat softly sometimes and would feed him a part of her self. Usually a hand. This though was becoming increasingly not enough and Abura was attacking Sam and the others. When this happened she had to go from soft to hard.

Squeezing his neck with a bit of force she crushed his neck in one go before tossing him to the side. Abura fell to the ground limp and no longer moved.

For some reason, this seemed to be the only thing that worked for the moment. After she crushes his neck, Abura would just shut down. A minute or two later he would open his eyes and seemingly go back to normal. He would even listen to Reya for a short time. Though the times where he listened were getting shorter and shorter and Abura seemed to be getting smarter and smarter.

Reya walked over to Shin and grinned at him.

“Now that the fatty is on a break, what was it you just called me?”

Shin swallowed hard but didn’t say instead he tried to switch the blame.

“It’s not my fault, Abura was trying to eat us again and you and you were doing nothing about it. I had to get your attention someho…”

Reya’s knee landed squarely in Shin’s crotch and he keeled over gripping his balls in agony. Danny and Asuna rushed to his side.

Asuna glared furiously at Reya.

“Hmm, is there something you want to add red head?”

Asuna clenched her teeth hard. The things she wanted to say, the venom she would spit. Danny grabbed her shaking fist and shook his head.

“Asuna, don’t.”

Reya laughed inwardly.

(Now that I know he’s there, Its time to start.)

Abura’s red eyes snapped open and he stood up as though nothing had happened.

“Good, you’re awake. Go find me a cave. Nothing large and nothing with more than one exit.”

Abura didn’t move and something unnoticeable flashed within his gaze.

Reya crossed her arms.

“Did you not hear me?”

Abura nodded.

“Good then get your fat ass moving.”

Abura turned and fleshy wings sprouted from his back. With a leap into the sky, he gave a sniff to the air before taking off in a certain direction.

Reya shook her head in disappointment.

(I’ll have to kill him when this is over, he’s a failure of an Azirian.)
