The room was quiet. Sitting in a small circle on the ground, Kazuki and the others were all troubled. They had initially sat down to try and come up with a plan but nothing that made sense came up.

Reya was strong, beyond strong. Even if they all faced her together, they couldn’t match her in raw power. Not only that, while she’s on the ground, her speed also outclasses everyone else’s. Close combat was taken off the table before the conversation even started. That led to ranged attacks. Kazuki could throw a fireball and his blue flames could definitely do damage, real damage but there’s no way Reya would simply sit still and be devoured by the flame.

Mei and Tsura could use their large wingspans to launch gust of wind at Reya but those attacks would do nothing. The two might be able to do something with a dive bomb from the sky. Were they to gather enough momentum diving, they could potentially hit her like a semi-truck but if they were caught, it’s over. Reya would tear their wings off first and potentially have a few more hostages or straight up kill the nuisances there and then.

In the end, it all came down to Nunully. Nunully could launch both water and ice and now that she was in the 4th stage, with the right equipment she would be the main attacker of this mission. Kazuki was just trying to figure out how to properly put her in action.

Asuna and the others would be on the ground with Reya, so Nunlly couldn’t attack recklessly. They had to figure out how to remove the hostages and attack Reya before Reya could act. The question though was how?

Mei finally couldn’t take it anymore and fell backward on her back.

“Ugh, this is boring. Mama, can I have a snack?”

Nunully giggled and dropped a pillow on her head.

*Puh*

“Little Mei, didn’t you already eat earlier, don’t tell me you’re still not full.”

Mei laid there silently without moving, pretending she was dead.

Tsura pinched her side.

“Mei it’s rude to not answer an adult when they are talking to you.”

Mei did her best and ignored her mom’s small pinch and stayed perfectly still. Tsura and Nunully shared a look before the two attacked at the same time. Nunully went for her sides and Tsura went for her exposed feet and the two began to tickle her without mercy. Mei tried to resist this, she really did but only 3 seconds in and she burst out with laughter.

“Hahahhahahaha. No fair no fair!”

Mei jumped up and spread out her arms as much as she could, trying to look intimidating.

“Now it’s time for revenge.”

She then proceeded to dive at the two and tickle them back. Tsura wasn’t very ticklish and Mei got bored with her calmness and focused even harder on Nunully who seemed to have zero defense when it came to tickling. Nuully actually began to kick uncontrollably while laughing. She looked at Tsura and Kazuki for help but there was none given. Mei went at her without mercy and a chorus of the two laughing echoed out as they traded blow for blow in their little match to see who could make the other give in first.

Kazuki was still lost in thought and was barely aware of the two’s presence. After everyone threw out a bunch of ideas that didn’t work, Kazuki was trying to figure out something, anything but he was stumped.

Tsura sat down next to him.

“How’s it going, anything?”

Kazuki shook his head.

“Nothing, no matter how I see it, we can’t win. The only thing we can possibly do is to fly far away and hope that we make it to the Rin mountain range before they catch up.”

Tsura was baffled.

“What! What about Danny and the others? We have to rescue them otherwise, you know what that woman will do. She’ll, she’ll kill them all.”

“I know.”

“Then we have to come up with something before its too late.”

“I KNOW!”

Nunully and Mei stopped at the sudden shout. The two looked at each other and they felt bad.

“Kazuki, we got a little carried away.”

Kazuki could see that they were all worried and he sighed inwardly. For them, it was probably still so strange seeing him with this new face but having him yell like that kind of hammered it all in that things were not going smoothly.

Mei scooted over on her butt until she was right next to Kazuki. She smiled sweetly before she stretched her arm up and began to pat Kazuki gently on the head.

“Big bro its gonna be ok. We all just have to figure it out together right?”

(This kind child, really she’s too sweet.)

“Thank you, Mei. Sorry if I scared you.”

“Big bro could never be scary. Even when he wears other people’s faces, Mei still won’t be afraid no matter what.”

Kazuki felt awkward at Mei’s misunderstanding and tried to explain.

“Mei I’m not wearing other people’s faces. I simply change the bone structure slightly and heal a certain amount of muscle in the face making it appear differently. If I actually stole someone’s face, that would indeed be terrifying.”

This whole conversation reminded Kazuki of some movie he saw while randomly flipping channels. A serial killer would cut off people’s faces and wear them as his own. He remembers having nightmares that night. After that, he didn’t watch tv for a while.

Kazuki shuddered thinking about it but Mei didn’t get what he meant.

“Eh, big bro’s face isn’t someone else’s but its not big bro’s face either that’s super super weird.”

Mei turned to Nunully and her mom for validation and the two nodded together.

“Your right little Mei, Kazuki is very weird but one day he’ll change hos face back right?”

“Of course, I just did this so people wouldn’t recognize me. I would have done it earlier but doing it with just the ancient hand symbols is a pain. Now that I have my Mage core, it only takes a few minutes. This red hair as well will go back if I dye it or wait a while for it to regrow.”

Everyone looked at him questioningly before he decided to change the subject.

“Anyway, one of the reasons I went out and had to borrow some money from Tsura was, well, because of this.”

Kazuki’s ring glowed with a faint purple light and several items came out of his storage ring. By the end of it all, a small pile of tools and weapons appeared in front of him. Kazuki grabbed a pair of earrings out from the pile and handed one each to Tsura and Mei. The earrings were shaped like a half-moon and were golden laced with tiny sparkling dots, that shined in the light.

Both mother and daughter’s eyes shined seeing the matching earrings. They were simple but quite beautiful.

“Those are storage tools. They are a pair and they share the same storage space. That might sound like your getting stiffed but the amount of space is actually more than triple an average storage ring so it was actually a steal.”

“Kazuki, thank you.”

Tsura was very polite but Kazuki felt embarrassed by this.

“Actually Tsura, this was all from the money I borrowed from you, so in reality, you bought these. Instead, I should be the one thanking you, hehe.”

Tsura thought for a moment and nodded.

“Hm, your right. This item is very nice, thank you me.”

Tsura followed up with a light chuckle, enjoying her little joke but Mei just shook her head.

“Mama’s weird too.”

Tsura blushed slightly before she pinched Mei’s little butt.

“Ah, Mama!”

“Be quiet Mei Mei and just be grateful young lady.”

Mei glared at her mom before sticking her tongue out at her. Tsura was about to pinch her again before Nunully interrupted her.

“That earing really suits you Tsura. You look graceful wearing it.”

Tsura smiled and took the compliment before she looked at Kazuki.

“I see a bunch of stuff here but what did you get for Nunully?”

Kazuki pulled out 3 different things. The first thing was a set of armor made from a tough monster’s hide.

“This armor may look simple but it can defend against normal blades and block arrows with ease. Besides that though there’s also this staff.”

Kazuki handed over an all blue staff with a regular mana crystal embedded at the top.

“The shop didn’t have the proper elemental crystal so it just has a regular one but its power is still quite nice. Anything below the 4th stage and you can crush them with this. As long as your at a distance that is.”

Nunully held the staff close to her heart.

“This is for me?”

Kazuki nodded.

“Of course, who else would it be for. Oh and there’s also this.”

Kazuki pulled out a small golden ring from the pile and was handing it to Nunully but as soon as she saw it, she instinctively held out her hand with her ring finger extended.

Kazuki swallowed hard before his own instincts kicked in and he flicked the ring over the rest of the distance and cleared his throat.

*Ahem*

“And of course this is an ordinary storage ring with no other meaning whatsoever.”

Kazuki kind of fumbled his words and the three ladies shared a look before they all broke out in laughter.

*Hahahaha*

“Big bro, so embarrassing.”
