Triska’s blood was boiling. Her men were slowly being pushed back and Reya had fled from the battle. Her trident frozen in several tons of ice and Degra was still alive, laughing in front of her.

(I have to get rid of him first or I’ll lose.)

Triska pointed the tip of her sword toward Degra and rushed forward.

“DIE!”

Degra leaped away as fast as he could. However, he was still not fast enough. A sword made of dark energy formed in his hand and the two clashed against the other.

*Bang*

Degra couldn’t hold against Triska’s strength and was batted away like a rag doll. As he was sent flying in the air, Triska chased. Taking a step in the air, she ran into the sky and struck down with another slash.

*Bam Clank!*

Degra managed to parry the first blow but because he couldn’t maneuver very well while in the air, he got blasted away once more.

Kazuki, Sam, and Shin all raced forward and the three jumped after Triska. Triska couldn’t quite deal the finishing blow because of them but they made a mistake trying to fight her in the air. Triska turned on them and stabbed toward Kazuki’s face. Kazuki tilted his head to the side but Triska still managed to draw blood. Shin grabbed Kazuki’s busted arm and pulled him out of the way. Kazuki gritted in pain but was glad Shin had his back.

Sam took this chance and swung his hammer at Triska’s side but Triska was still faster than him and her strength even more so. She grabbed the head of Sam’s hammer and tossed it into the sky above her. Sam was forced to let go or he’d be dragged high into the sky. As soon as he let go, Triska turned to deliver a kick at Sam’s midsection. Her foot met Shin’s barrier, he was just in time to surround Sam with it. Triska’s kick was too strong though and was tearing through his wind barrier.

“Shin, help me maneuver.”

Shin nodded and Kazuki was tossed at Triska. A blue flame gathered above his palm and he was about to grab Triska’s extended leg. Triska was already cautious of this flame and swiftly withdrew her kick, at the same time she twisted her body and swung out with her sword, preparing to sever Kazuki’s arm.

Shin controlled the wind around Kazuki and pulled his body back. Sam fell back down to the ground and was about to jump[ back up when Kimi stopped him.

“Sam, remember what Danny showed us, it worked on her earlier, let me and Nunully do this, you prepare a weapon.”

Sam recalled Kimi’s earlier attack and nodded. He looked for a weapon on the nearby ground but there was nothing. He saw something falling out of the corner of his eye and gave chase.

(My hammer!)

Kimi ran over to Nunully and shared her idea. Nunully’s expression changed and she quickly prepared her staff.

Degra had just gotten back up from the ground.

(This isn’t going to work. I need to bring her down here or…)

Degra saw Tsura and Mei unconscious on the ground. Running over he gave them both a hard kick.

“Get up you dumb birds!”

Back in the sky, Kazuki swiped at Triska again but Triska had become weary of his flame and as soon as he tried to attack her with it, she would back off.

Kazuki had no more swords in his storage ring and motioned to Shin.

“Let me borrow that blade.”

Shin tossed it over with a playful smile.

“Be careful with it, it was a gift from a friend.”

Kazuki couldn’t believe even in this situation, Shin could still joke around.

He wanted to tell him to take it seriously but before he did, Shin’s face turned vicious.

“Make sure you take her neck. She killed Danny, a life for a life.”

Kazuki said nothing and simply nodded.

Shin gathered a torrent of wind beneath Kazuki and shot him forward like an arrow.

Kazuki swung his blade overtop and Triska came up to meet him. Just as his sword was about to make contact with hers, Kazuki loosened his grip.

*Clang!*

Triska felt the weight of Kazuki’s blow was far too light and wondered what had happened but in that exact same moment she saw…

Kazuki’s blade was sent flying out of his hand and flipped in the air. Before it got more than an inch away though, Kazuki snatched it out of the air. With it flipped, its tip was now pointed directly at Triska and with his new grip, the slash turned into a stab. Triska was overextended and Kazuki was stabbing down atop her.

*CHIII!*

Kazuki stabbed into Triska’s metal chest plate but soon after hos blade could go no further. He had met flesh but her flesh was much tougher than her armor.

Kazuki couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.

(What the fuck is the point in wearing armor if your body is harder than it!)

Triska grabbed the blade and Kazuki knew it was over for it. Shin pulled him back with his wind and Kazuki released the blade while Triska squeezed it, shattering it into pieces.

“Not bad. Even though I’m faster than you, you managed to get past my defenses for a moment. Too bad you didn’t kill me, for that will be your last opportunity.”

“Oh really!”

Kimi shouted sarcastically at Triska. She lifted her staff but did not point it at Triska but instead at something off to the side. Triska didn’t care for Kimi’s blunt attitude but was curious where her confidence came from. Looking where Kimi aimed her staff, Triska saw a small plate-sized piece of ice.

It wasn’t just one though. Looking around there were dozens of them. Each one was smooth as can be and reflective almost like a mirror.

(These are?)

Triska looked around herself and realized she was actually surrounded on all sides. When she noticed that and saw how reflective they were, a dangerous thought sprung in her head.

(NO!)

Just as she had that thought, Kimi pointed at one of the flat pieces of ice and said a few words in her head.

(Beam of Light!)

A laser-like light shot out of Kimi’s staff and struck one of the pieces of ice. As soon as it did, Nunully controlled the ice precisely and adjusted it along with her other pieces of ice all at once. The reflection from these smooth pieces of ice was nearly perfect and Kimi’s laser bounced from one piece of ice to another until it shot directly at Triska’s eyes.

Triska barely had any time and had just managed to protect her orbs with her arm. She then didn’t hesitate to fly into the sky as fast as her power would allow her. Flying 200 feet into the sky, this distance should have been her saving grace but when she looked around, Triska was stunned.

Even up there, there were dozens more smooth pieces of reflective ice. Kimi fired off another beam of light and Nunully tilted a piece of her mirror-like ice and the beam of light continued on and shot up into the sky. It bounced off another piece of ice and headed straight for Triska’s face once again.

Triska slammed her eyes shut and raced into the sky, higher and higher she flew until she was over a thousand feet into the sky.

(Up here…up here I should be sa…)

Triska opened her eyes and felt a chill run down her spine. Hundreds of pieces of mirror ice were floating even up here and more and more were forming with each passing second.

Degra smiled as he watched this.

“Now this is what I’m talking about.”

He squeezed his legs on Mei’s back and ordered her.

“Get me close to the blondie.”

Kazuki and Shin ran over at this time.

“Degra, that light will blind you. We need your eyes. Without them, Triska will run wild.”

Degra put a hand in front of his eyes before slowly removing it. As he did a thin layer of dark energy covered his eyes, similar to a face visor. Kazuki could barely see his eyes through it.

“With this, I could look directly at that light and it will merely be like looking at bright snow. It won’t be too difficult.”

Degra then slapped Mei’s back and ordered.

“Go!”

*SCREEEEeeeeeee*

Mei released a high pitch screech and for a moment, the world became silent. The very next, she flapped her wings as hard as she could and took Degra up.

Triska was surrounded on all sides and she cursed in her head.

(Damn them. Thakriss is late and Degra is more of pain than he should be. Who would have thought all of these worms could hold their own.)

Triska blocked another beam of light with her arm. The metal she wore had a tiny hole in it from where the light bore through it. This light was more than a little annoying. Her body may be strong but her eyes were different. One hit from that light and she knew it wouldn’t be good.

The ice mirrors finished forming and Triska had a million thoughts pass through her head before she regretfully came to a decision.

(I can’t do this without taking out Degra. I didn’t want to have to use this, as it takes a very large toll but if I don’t kill Degra, then all of this is pointless. He’s dug his way deep into my city for so many years and has never given me a chance to wipe him out. He finally came out of Gentis, I may never get another chance at this.)

“Fine…Fine. I wanted to save this but I figured I might have to use it.”

Triska shut her eyes and spread her arms as wide as possible. Energy gathered within herself and a powerful force started to drag the air towards her.

(Degra… let’s see how you handle this.)
