“Just who did you say was going to lose!?”

While everyone was at a loss and paled in fright, Kazuki remained calm.

“You are.”

Triska’s brow’s furrowed.

“You just don’t know when to bite your tongue!”

Kazuki shrugged his shoulders.

“I guess I don’t but that still doesn’t change the fact that this is your loss.”

Kazuki looked at Asuna and nodded to her. In return, Asuna lifted her hand up into the sky and pointed at Triska who was left visibly confused.

(Even now this man doesn’t know his place. I don’t know what he and the woman have planned but the one who strikes first wins.)

Triska pointed her trident at Degra. Just as she was about to race forward, Asuna’s eyes glowed a bright purple and she yelled.

“LOCK! BLINK!”

Triska felt a strange power wrap around her and hold her in place. She could move even an inch. She should have been able to break this power easily but something was off. Triska’s trident was shining with an unusual purple light. That’s when Triska noticed it.

At the tail end of her trident a tiny piece of cloth, covered in the ancient language was tied around her trident.

Power condensed on it and all at once Sam and the others flashed several ancient hand symbols and Triska vanished. The very next moment, she reappeared in the center of the last frozen tornado.

Ice surrounded her on all sides and she could no longer move in the slightest.

(This is!?)

Triska began to gather strength.

(I’ll crush this in an instant.)

“Nunully! do it!”

Kazuki’s yell snapped Nunully into action. She pointed at the frozen tornado and roared.

“COLLAPSE!”

The frozen funnel reacted to her power and the base holding it all up cracked and shattered. With it, the entire ice sculpture that stretched more than a thousand feet into the sky, packed full of boulders and trees, all of it came crashing down.

*Boom*

Triska who was stuck in the center, only half of the total structure fell on top of her but the weight of it had to be in the near tens of thousands, possibly closing in on a solid one hundred thousand pounds.

The weight of it all coming down thundered as it struck the world and shook the ground for dozens of miles. The survivors who stood far away from the battlefield watching, some of them couldn’t stand the shake of it all and fell on their asses, while others barely managed to stay on their feet. Once more their vision was blocked from snow and dirt and everything else.

Kazuki and everyone else huddled close together in a newly reformed dome Nunully had thrown together. No one said a word as thousands of pounds fell atop the dome, cracking it. Nunully no longer had any power remaining and could no longer repair the dome and the whole thing threatened o fall apart. Sam stood up and quickly made stone walls and small pillars that reinforced the walls allowing them to withstand the last of it all.

The total collapse of all the ice only lasted about 20 seconds but in that time everyone’s heart was nearly beating out of their chests. It was as though they were all gathered together in an underground bunker in the dark, while just outside an air raid was taking place dropping countless bombs atop their heads. In those 20 seconds, the fear of death was real.

When the last pebble of ice fell, Degra burst out with laughter.

*Bwahahahaha!*

He started to repeatedly slap Kazuki on the back joyfully.

“We did it, we actually killed that bitch and it was all thanks to your crazy ass plan.”

Kazuki slapped Degra’s hand away.

“Yes, now quit hitting me asshole.”

Degra stopped but he was all smiles. Nothing was gonna ruin his mood right now.

“By the way, had you not gotten her so mad and unraveled, surely she would have noticed that little talisman tied onto her trident. What would you have done if she snatched it off and threw it away? Without that last little trick, she wouldn’t have been teleported into the ice like that and we would have been screwed.”

Everyone was all ears after Degra’s comments. They all knew of Kazuki’s plan and had to act a little. When Triska called her spear back to her, they had to pretend to be truly scared or she might have known something was up. They two were curious about what Kazuki would have done afterward if things didn’t go according to plan.

To their dismay though, Kazuki shook his head.

“If things didn’t work out, there was no plan b, we’d all be dead now.”

Shin’s jaw literally fell open

“Dude what the fuck!”

Kazuki shrugged his shoulders again.

“I’m just being honest. I thought you all would appreciate that seeing as how my dishonesty caused a few fucked up situations.”

Kimi snorted hearing this.

“Hmph, more than a few.”

Kazuki didn’t argue and agreed.

“Right, more than a few. The point is though, things worked out. Triska got so worked up that she didn’t notice the details out of place. She didn’t think twice about her trident stabbed into the ground. She probably assumed it came out when the first three tornadoes froze and collapsed into the ground. She probably never even thought about the possibility that Asuna removed it from the sphere and just before everyone’s vision was clear, she tied the talisman to the trident and planted it in a certain spot. She wasn’t even the least bit suspicious of the gleam reflecting off of her trident. She thought she spotted it naturally but had she looked up into the sky, she would have seen Nunully’s ice mirror reflecting, and maybe that would have allowed her to notice that it was Kimi’s light that showed her the way. Making someone angry can blind them of things they would normally easily detect. I didn’t think I could get her to lose her cool at first but after I remembered that she had a sister who she protected, her sore spot was revealed. After that, it just took a bit of prodding.”

No one knew what to say to all of this. He had walked them through the plan earlier but to think it actually turned out like this. They wondered if they could come up with such a plan in so little time and if they could execute it in such a way. In the end, none of them could confidently answer their own query with a yes.

Degra nodded along.

“So it was a small note from me that saw this plan out in the end. I suppose you all should thank me then.”

Everyone’s expressions soured and Degra followed up with…

“Hah, it was a joke young kiddies. Learn to take them in stride or before you know it you’ll be bitter old shits before you can blink.”

Asuna clenched a fist and her hand trembled.

“This shitty old man. Want me to beat you?”

Degra wagged a finger.

“Now now, words and threats like that, and I may take offense.”

Asuna smiled back, clearly hiding her anger.

“It seems your the one who can’t take a joke old man.”

Degra had yet to remove his helmet and took a step forward.

“Would you like to see a joke young lady?”

Asuna looked at his lower half.

“Too late, I’ve already seen one.”

Degra’s calm expression was rattled for a split second and the eyes on his helmet suddenly focused in on Asuna. Just before he activated his power though, Kazuki stepped in front of him and spoke coldly.

“Degra, are you threatening my friends?”

Degra felt intense pressure from those simple words. Not a real pressure but a mental one. While everyone was inside the dome, and Kazuki was out fighting, they couldn’t really tell what was going on but Degra with his special eyes saw the battle clear as day. Even with the disadvantaged situation, Kazuki still managed to fend off Triska a 4th stage mage and he did it mainly with that blue fire of his. Degra knew Kazukiw as faster than him. He knew Kazuki was stronger as well. Add that blue flame of his and the fact that Degra’s power didn’t work on him and Kazuki could potentially be Degra’s worst enemy if the two had a falling out.

The eyes on Degra’s helmet closed all at once and he politely stepped back.

“Why would I threaten your friends. I simply asked if the young lady wished to see a joke and she claimed to already have seen one. So I suppose there’s no longer a reason to play childish games.”

Kazuki’s brow rose.

(He seems a bit more reserved for some reason.)

Degra then stepped back and waved his hand. A full set of clothes appeared and he swiftly got dressed. Everyone saw this and was shocked. Shin pointed at him accusingly.

“You, you had more clothes this whole time.”

Degra waved his hand about and nearly a hundred fine suits came out all at once. Showing them off for a moment, he then put them back in his storage ring.

“Of course I’ve got clothes. Who leaves home without a few things to change into in case of an emergency.”

Kimi gnashed her teeth.

“This was a freaking emergency. Had you taken those out, none of us would have had to strip naked in the first place.”

Degra shrugged his shoulders.

“And waste my suits, nah, pass.”

Degra then created a sword made from dark energy and cut out a door-shaped hole in Nunully’s dome before casually walking out.

All of the ladies all at once shouted with a resounding.

“WHAT AN ASSHOLE!”
