Staring daggers at Degra’s back, Kimi and Asuna complained to no one in particular about Degra being an ass hat. At the same time, Nunully was well past her limit and she fell over almost passing out in the process.
Kazuki quickly caught her just before she hit the ground. A look of concern flashed across his face. After checking on her though, he found that she was simply exhausted.
Asuna felt a sting in her chest seeing this but after a moment she pushed down her thoughts and worriedly asked.
“Is she alright?”
Kazuki gently laid Nunully down.
“She’s fine, she just did a little too much. She needs a little rest.”
The two became quiet as neither one really knew what to say to the other. Now that they were no longer facing life and death and didn’t require the other to survive, it became blatantly obvious how awkward things still were between the two. Not only just them though. Sam and Kimi as well stared in silence. Besides Tsura, Nunully, and Mei who were already on Kazuki’s side, Shin was the only one who seemed amicable.
“Now this is interesting. I’m usually the one receiving all the weird stares but now that your back Kazuki, they look at you like your a leper, hehe.”
Shin broke the silence and everyone looked away from Kazuki awkwardly.
Kazuki sighed inwardly before slowly picking Nunully up and carrying her towards the domes exit.
“Mei, Tsura, we’re done here, we should be on our way.”
Tsura got up right away but Mei protested.
“Eh! big bro we just reunited with everyone and we’re leaving already. I don’t wanna.”
Tsura grabbed Mei by the ear and began dragging her along.
“Ow ow ow mama why?”
“Hush now child before I drag you by both your ears instead of just one.”
Mei wanted to argue but she found that the atmosphere was really weird and with her mother staring death down at her, she promptly but reluctantly zipped her lips and followed along.
Kazuki had just stepped outside with Nunully when Asuna came running out.
“WAIT!”
Kazuki stopped in his tracks but he didn’t turn back.
“What is it?”
Asuna didn’t know what to say and began mumbling her words.
“I…we…uh, um.”
Kazuki started to walk once more.
Asuna couldn’t quite find the words and instead ran in front of Kazuki. Kimi and everyone else came out.
“Asuna, why are you stopping him? He said it himself, he’s finished here. What more is there to do?”
You could hear the sarcasm just ooze from Kimi’s mouth.
Kazuki looked Asuna up and down.
“You do realize your still naked right.”
Asuna’s face turned bright red and she quickly covered herself with her hands.
“Dude why did you mention it now she’s hiding such a view.”
Sam glared at Shin and Shin couldn’t help but swallow dryly before waving both his hands.
“It was a joke, just a joke. No need to kill me over it.”
At this time Degra’s men came over, escorting those who surrendered as their prisoners. They stopped in front of Degra for a moment and exchanged a few words. After that Degra pointed over toward Kazuki and the others. Two subordinates came up to them. One was a woman and the other a man. The man’s staff glowed and everyone became cautious and their guards went up. Not even a moment later though, the woman next to the man elbowed him in the ribs and he shouted.
“AH! What the fuck was that for!?”
The woman pointed at Kazuki and the others.
“You can’t just walk up to someone and point your weapon at them. At least tell them what’s going on, damn you lack common sense.”
The man’s chest rose but before he could yell at the woman, the woman proceeded to bow.
“Sorry for my foolish friend. He doesn’t know how to use what’s in his head, that is if anything is even up there.”
Shin chuckled at the woman’s joke before the woman continued.
“Boss said that you all were lacking clothes and by the looks of it…”
The woman glanced over all the women before her gaze fell on both Kazuki and Sam where it lingered for a bit before the man next to her rolled his eyes and followed up.
“What this ditzy girl means is that our boss has decided to graciously bless you all with our belongings.”
Kazuki’s brow rose.
“Your belongings?”
The girl wiped away some drool from her lip before she snapped out of it.
“That’s right, the boss is giving you our clothes, though I don’t think my friend’s clothes will be a bit tight on you two, especially down there.”
The man standing next to her felt vexed and Shin truly felt the cold air from her comments. Kimi as well didn’t like another woman ogling her man and stepped in front of Sam but her small frame had no way of hiding him.
The woman chuckled slightly before the necklace between her robust cleavage glowed with a dim purple light. Following that, several clothes for women appeared in her hands. She walked over to the ladies and gave them an outfit. Seeing little Mei though she was stumped for a second.
“Hmm, you are a bit too small for these. Maybe just a long shirt?”
The woman handed a long shirt and Mei wore it like a nighty. Finally, the woman came over to Kimi and handed her an outfit as well. Though, when she handed it over she who stood quite a bit taller then Kimi, peered over Kimi’s shoulder and got an eyeful of Sam. The woman licked her lips and commented.
“Just where did you come from and who built you, mmm.”
Kimi’s eyes bulged before she pushed her chest into the woman’s and declared in a snarl.
“He’s mine, back off you slut.”
The woman didn’t mind Kimi’s harsh tone pushed her own chest back into Kimi’s with a bump.
“Oh, is he?”
The woman looked past Kimi and stared lustfully at Sam.
“As your little mouse says I know my way around but that also means I’ve had plenty of opportunities to perfect my technique. Come find me when you want a real woman and not a teeny tiny angry little mouse. At that time, I’ll teach ya plenty.”
Kimi’s hand balled up into a fist and an inscription tattoo lit up on the side of the woman’s neck. The two were just about ready to brawl when Sam and the other man pulled the women apart. The man quickly brought out several of his own clothes and threw them to Kazuki and the others before forcefully dragging the woman away with him.
Kimi and the woman exchanged a few curses until Degra’s subordinates returned to his side. Kimi wanted to throw away the clothes she just received from the woman but she was really feeling the cold by now. She put the clothes on but she kept mumbling insults the entire time she was changing.
“Fucking bitch, slut. I hope you catch whatever the equivalent of aids is here and your pussy has to be sewn shut stuffed with peppers.”
The filth that left Kimi’s mouth left everyone pausing in concern. Even Sam had never heard such vile from her. Kimi noticed the looks she was getting and simply snorted before turning away.
Kazuki helped dress Nunully and put on the clothes he just received. Tsura and Mei as well were ready. Again though, Asuna stood in front of him.
“You can’t go yet.”
“And why not?”
Asuna still couldn’t give a reason why but she wouldn’t move.
“You…we have to talk about all the bad shit you put us through. How…How will you compensate us for it?”
“Compensation, is that all you really want from me?”
“What else would I want from you?”
Asuna didn’t know why she said it like that but It obviously came out wrong. Kazuki had no time for games. He still had a mission and could only apologize so much. He gave Tsura a look.
“Could you give me a hand?”
Tsura knew what Kazuki meant and her necklace began to shine. After that, a thousand gold Zeni fell with a hefty*Clank* As it landed in front of Asuna.
“That should be more than enough compensation. Now if you don’t mind I and Degra still have one another enemy that should be here any second. We’d rather go and meet them in an ambush, so if there’s nothing else, you’d all be better off leaving now. Head south, there’s a city called Gantis. Use that money to get yourselves supplied and I’d suggest maybe heading for another kingdom entirely. If you submit yourselves to another King, Garn may have trouble going after you. You’ll all be safe.”
Kazuki walked around Asuna who was left frozen in place not knowing what to do.
*Thud*
As everyone watched Kazuki silently walking away with Nunully and the others, Shin had picked up a snowball and thrown it at his back.
Kazuki slowly turned around and once more.
*Thwack*
A ball of snow hit him directly in the face. He couldn’t block due to carrying Nunully and this annoyed the shit out of him.
“What are you doing?”
Shin bent down and picked up another snowball before throeing it. Kazuki stepped to the side and dodged it.
“Asuna is right, you can’t just leave, you still have something to do.”
“Shin, I have no time for your jokes so…”
“This is no joke.”
Shin pointed at the dome behind him.
“We haven’t buried Danny yet.”
Tsura froze in place and a deep sense of guilt struck her.
Kazuki was about to say something when Tsura whispered something.
“Ok.”
Everyone leaned in closer.
“Tsura, Degra still needs…”
Tsura cut Kazuki off.
“I know…I know but still, we’re going to bury him. We’ll finish what we’ve set out to do. We’ll deal with Degra’s last enemy and then we’ll come back and give Danny a proper burial. It’s…It’s the least we can do.”
Everything went quiet and Kazuki stared at Tsura for a moment. She stared back at him. No words were exchanged yet he understood what she was trying to convey.
“I understand. We’ll deal with the city lord and then we’ll…”
“DEGRA! WHAT A FINE MESS YOU’VE CAUSED. IT SEEMS I SHOULD STEP IN AND CLEAN IT UP!”
A booming voice exploded across the sky and hundreds of people came into view all at once. The City Lord had arrived.
