Garn contemplated deeply before grumbling.

“Even if I interfere, in order to stop Fera…it’s quite difficult. Right now she’s using her mental energy to both create and possess a body. Even if I destroy that fake body of hers, she’ll just keep coming back. It’s troublesome to deal with. That mental energy of hers needs to either be fully destroyed or blocked from her real body, but to do so…is there even such a way?”

Brian tapped his holographic foot on the floor.

“Can’t you use this palace of yours or rather its barrier. You boasted how strong it is.”

*HAHAHA*

Tobern laughed wildly.

“Brian you still think this palace can do what Garn claimed. Here I thought you were the clever one but you are still naive, boy king.”

Garn ignored Tobern and went on.

“I did say my barrier could take a large amount of damage but that will only keep her out of the palace. Are you saying I should just get her attention so that Kazuki can flee? Sure my palace can take it but once she knows that I’m nothing more than a distraction, she’ll come right back and look for Kazuki. With her speed, she’ll cover more ground than he ever could and she’ll find him almost immediately. It’s pointless.”

“That may be but I never said to lead her on a wild chase. Your Mugen core holds the key. That amount of energy, could it not produce a second barrier.”

As soon as Brian said that, like a bolt of lightning, Garn understood instantly.

“You’re saying to get her attention and when she’s close enough to form a second barrier past her, therefore trapping her between the first and second!?”

Brian nodded.

“If you do that she won’t be able to destroy the barrier protecting the palace neither will she be capable of destroying the second and escaping out of it. This will also give us a chance to see if this will affect her mental energy. If the second barrier is closed, will her mental energy from her original body be able to pass through it. If so it can show you flaws you did not know were there and you can, later on, improve the barrier but if it does sever her mental energy, that should damage her real body. In that way, it should take her some time to recover and she won’t be able to return to these lands with her mind for a while, that could give us the time we need to come up with some contingencies. What do you think?”

Garn was getting excited hearing all of this.

“Brian that is brilliant. To trap her will show us many things. It might even show us some small insights into the 6th stage. If I can hold her long enough, I may be able to study some things. This…This could work.”

Tobern was still doubtful but he was growing curious by the second and wanted to see whether such crazy talk would actually float. If it failed he would gloat and if it succeeded, well he didn’t even consider it.

—————————————————————————-

Kazuki had just charred Reya’s body and felt his adrenaline pumping and he wanted to return to the fight but he also found himself conflicted.

(If I run and escape then I’ll live but at the same time, Etora can’t fight like this forever. Eventually, won’t he grow tired. If he does, how will Nunully and the others escape? They can barely handle the Azirian’s right now. I have to help them. Once the other Azirian’s are dead, they can escape with me. After we’re far away, Etora can then disengage and run away as well.)

Kazuki remembered something and sifted through Reya’s remains. He found his golden compass and gripped it tightly.

(My keepsake has returned to me.)

Kazuki put it around his neck and felt the strange aura seeping out from it begin to sink into his body. Kazuki wasn’t alarmed by this and knew it was fine as the aura sank silently into his Mage core. After his compass was once more around his neck, he felt a bit of bitterness as he spotted Tilly’s storage ring in the snow.

(It must have still been on Tilly’s finger when she was absorbed into Reya.)

Kazuki’s stomach twisted as though someone had driven a knife into him.

(Damn it Tilly! I would have taught you how to make a Magic core if I would have known things would have turned out like this. Damn it!)

Kazuki had recently learned everything there was to know about creating a golem as well as its most important Magic core. He didn’t hold the same thoughts as Glacious did towards humanity. He would have gladly given it to his friend Tilly had she simply asked him but Tilly had turned strange recently and had become dangerously obsessed to the point that she actually stole from a dragon of all things. Kazuki felt angry at Tilly as well as sad. Even if she stole, Kazuki didn’t think she deserved to die, especially not the way she went out.

(Tilly, I…I wish we could of at least had one last drink together over one of your funny stories. Now we never will.)

Kazuki was not one to pray but he did have a simple thought. If gods were as he imagined and heaven along with it. He hoped Tilly would be there, drinking and laughing, surrounded by good company.

Just as Kazuki was deep in thought. Something sprang up from behind him. He sensed it and tried to dodge but before he could escape something stabbed deeply into his thigh.

*Gushinck*

Kazuki saw a fleshly blade stretch from Reya’s corpse. It had stabbed into his leg and punctured through to the other side. Kazuki swung his black ruler and severed the fleshy blade and stumbled backward a few steps while cursing.

“You fucking vile thing, just die already!”

Kazuki then threw several blue fireballs directly ontop of Reya’s corpse, engulfing it in its entirety. A few moments later and her body was reduced to nothing more than ash.

The fleshy blade remained embedded in his thigh and he was bleeding profusely. Though he could feel his flesh healing quickly and the blood loss was nothing, it still needed to be removed. Kazuki reached down to grab the blade from his leg but before he touched it, the blade wiggled for a split second before retreating into his flesh.

This happened in an instant and an agonizing pain filled him the very next. The shock was something hard to put into words but Kazuki didn’t panic. He knew he had to remove it as quickly as possible and sensed the inner workings of his body.

The blade had morphed into a flexible worm-like thing and squirmed its way deeper inside. This worm knew it was in danger and raced as quickly as it could up Kazuki’s leg. Kazuki felt the fear of God as it came close to his nether regions. Kazuki instinctively flexed the muscles in his leg as well as grabbed hold of his thigh and gripped it as tightly as possible like a tourniquet. The worm struggled to go further but it could not get past Kazuki’s grip.

From the surface of Kazuki’s flesh, it looked like a large vein was bulging and throbbing but in actuality, it was the worm. Kazuki created a fire around his hand right then and used it like a blade to cut into his upper thigh to get to the worm. As soon as his flesh was cut though, the worm split itself multiple times, causing its size to shrink down into something similar to a hair.

There were now twelve of these hair sized worms and they split up in different directions scattering all at once. Some even dove into his arteries and split further getting directly into his bloodstream. These tiny ones made it pass Kazuki’s grip and started to circulate through his body.

Kazuki could tell right away where these tiny worms were going. Some headed for his heart and other organs while a few went directly for his brain.

(YOU DARE!)

Kazuki circulated his ki as fast as possible and surrounded most of these hairs. He managed to stop all of them from getting to his organs and he began forcing these little devils out of his flesh one by one. These little worms weren’t done yet though. As Kazuki pushed them to just under the surface of his skin, all at once, they fell apart and turned into purplish-black blood.

Kazuki wasn’t prepared for this and some of this blood got into his bloodstream. Kazuki tried to block some of it but a tiny amount managed to make it to his head. Kazuki quickly surrounded the rest of the blood and forced it out of his body in one go. He then immediately burned the blood until it was no more.

Several spots on his skin had blotches of purplish-black and he could feel a burning sensation as a small battle took place throughout his body. The effects of the purplish-black blood were damaging his cells and harming his body. At the same time, his body was rapidly healing itself. For nearly a minute Kazuki was in excruciating pain as cells continued to die from the poisonous blood. Had Kazuki been a regular human, this blood would have killed him within seconds as it tore through structures in the body and melted the vital organs. Thankfully, Kazuki was now at the 4th stage and he still had his ki.

Circulating it, his wounds healed several times faster and the blotches around his body cleared up. Out of his pores, tiny drops of purplish-black blood seeped out like sweat. As they fell to the ground, they sizzled on the snow. After another minute of this, Kazuki couldn’t help but fall on his ass, a wave of exhaustion overtaking him.

(That conniving bitch! Even in death she still tries to take my life.)
