Garn remained within his palace and spoke calmly.

“This is not your territory. The Rin mountain range…Why would I ever go near your stupid pile of rubble anyway. Besides, is that any way one should talk to someone who just received help? Without me blocking her, your strange attack would never have worked. You should be thanking me.”

Tobern and Brian stared at Garn in shock. He actually dared to take such an attitude with Glacious, a 7th stage being. Was he not courting death or was he that confident in his palace?

Glacious’s expression changed as he focused on the barrier protecting Garn’s palace.

“Your overconfidence…Is it this barrier that gives you this false sense of reality? I destroyed your first toy, shall I destroy this one as well?”

Garn stared through the transparent floor. There was not a hint of anger or distress upon him. He calmly spoke.

“Overconfident, you could say that about our last meeting but this palace of mine is heavens apart different compared to Iselda. You destroyed that with a single black fireball but that simply won’t work on my palace. Whether it be defense or offense, the improvements I’ve made can be considered the best in all of Gordonia. If you don’t believe me, I wouldn’t be upset if you wanted to give it a try.”

Brian and Tobern again felt their hearts in their stomachs hearing all of this but Garn remained perfectly calm. Tobern whispered dryly.

“Garn what are you playing at? Don’t provoke that dragon or you’ll pull us all down with you.”

Garn though ignored him and continued to stare into Glacious’s eyes, not once breaking contact.

Glacious grew curious and approached the barrier. His hand slowly reached out and he touched the barrier. As soon as he did, he felt a buzz of energy run across the surface of his skin and he could feel a large amount of energy within it.

Glacious tilted his head in surprise.

(This barrier, the magic being supplied is so dense and pure. How can there be such a strong barrier? If my strength wasn’t being restricted right now, it would take me several real hits to get through. Since when did humans advance their magitech to such a degree.)

Glacious went silent and his red and yellow eyes both lit up at once and glowed brightly. His vision changed and he peered past the barrier and into the palace. His focus was drawn to deep within the palace and he saw several fist-sized orbs rotating rapidly. He could feel the power pouring out of these orbs and filling the palace and barrier with an enormous amount of magical energy. Studying the orbs for a moment, he was further left speechless.

(These cores, the inscriptions lining them are nothing I’ve ever seen before. So much of the ancient knowledge is inscribed and yet it’s not chaotic and flows smoothly instead. Like a chain link of commands, the inscriptions are somehow amplifying the power again and again. Somehow they aren’t degrading nor are they going out of control and exploding. Absolutely incredible!)

Glacious could see the genius behind the inscriptions and at the same time, he copied all of them to memory. He would study these for later.

Glacious slowly removed his hand and backed away. Right after he copied them, he couldn’t help but think of Tilly for a moment. He found himself behaving like a hypocrite. He had been so adamant about withholding his Golem’s magic cores from her because he felt it would be a terrible thing if such knowledge got out to the human world but looking at Garn’s cores within his palace, he immediately copied the designs to memory. He felt some guilt knowing what Tilly’s fate was.

Glacious looked up at Garn.

“Your barrier is indeed strong but I have no time to play petty games with you. What is it you want? Why did you come here?”

Garn shrugged.

“Am I not allowed to roam my own territory without being questioned. Especially after the sky went black for hundreds of miles. With my people thinking the end is nigh, it’s only natural for me to go and investigate the problem. Once I arrived here and saw it was you and a few others, I…”

“You sat in the sky and watched things unfold.”

Glacious interrupted Garn before he could finish, causing the tension to rise.

“You say you came to help yet you waited until the final moment to step in. Any outsider would say you were waiting for a few of us to die. At least you wanted Kazuki to die in combat.”

All eyes landed on Kazuki who was oddly quiet right now.

Kazuki wanted to speak but something was wrong with him even now. Not only could he not stand properly but even trying to speak was a struggle. Every little movement now, and the Azirian blood would replicate within him.

At the same time, Garn didn’t deny the accusations.

“True, if Kazuki died in battle, that would satisfy the resentment and anger I still hold for him. Since he didn’t though and you along with Etora are protecting him, I…I will no longer pursue the matter between us, on one condition.”

“Hah! You’re telling big bro you won’t go after someone under his wing for a condition. You actually are trying to extort big bro, are you insane? Big brother would never! Not now, not in a million or a billion years!”

“What is the condition?”

Glacious asked this which in turn shocked Etora as well as everyone else. That is except for Garn. Garn had been observing Glacious very closely. Even now, Glacious’s wounds were still healing at a slow rate. That combined with Fera’s words that he had weakened, and the fact that Glacious didn’t actually attack his barrier, Garn theorized there was something wrong with Glacious. All of that was a theory at first but it was confirmed when Glacious asked about the condition. Someone with the absolute advantage and with Glacious’s general attitude toward humans, he would never even humor a condition from Garn yet he himself asked about it. Garn smiled within.

“Nothing too extreme. What I want is simple. Help me end-all of the Azirian’s and afterward never involve yourself with human affairs ever again. I will soon rule this continent and I want to make sure there will be no outside interference whatsoever. I don’t care about the Rin mountain range, I don’t even care about the north of this continent at all. You can have it if you want, it’s basically a wasteland anyway. I don’t care where you go or why, but when it comes to Feya, you will stay completely out of its affairs. You do this, and my grudge with Kazuki, it will end here and now. What say you, dragon slayer?”

Glacious looked at Kazuki and it looked like Kazuki was trying to get his attention but he ignored it.

“Not just Kazuki. To involve myself, and do this favor for you, you will stay away from them all. Sam, Asuna, Kimi, Shin, Nunully, Mei, Lamia, all of them with Kazuki. You can not nor anyone on this continent will be allowed to harm a single hair on their head. If that’s something you can guarantee, then I agree.”

Garn was surprised Glacious would agree so readily and found his theory of Glacious being weakened more and more true. He wondered if he should call the whole thing off and just try and kill Glacious here and now. To get rid of his foul race and prove the strength of his palace here and now in front of Tobern and Brian would kill two birds with one stone.

(If I kill him with my palace, Tobern and Brian will submit after seeing my power. After that, I could kill Kazuki anyway.)

This thought flashed through Garn’s head for a split second but he threw it away.

(Even if Glacious truly is weak right now, there’s no guarantee my weapon can kill a 7th stage such as he. Plus Etora is still here. He could eat all of my attacks and the two could then combine strength and counter. The chances should be 50/50 but such a coin flip, the odds are not worth it. This deal, though I badly want Kazuki dead, things will work out better this way.)

“In the end, the other summoned ones were never even in my eye so leaving them alone is perfectly fine with me. As for that half breed elf and those bird beast, I don’t care for their foul existences but fine, they to will not be touched. I, Garn, King of Treia, and future King of Feya, will never lay a hand on any you have named today. I will leave them alone entirely and they may go in peace I swear. And you.”

Glacious nodded.

“I hereby agree to help you destroy every Azirian until they are fully destroyed. Afterward, I will no longer involve my self with you or any affairs on the continent of Feya. Og and I’ll also take you up on your earlier offer. From now on, the Rin mountain range, along with the entire north of Feya, shall be my territory.”

Garn’s mouth twisted a bit as though he had just consumed something sour. He had just said hed give the north away but he was just spouting nonsense to get to Glacious. There was no way he could go back on his word now though. Besides, he really cared little for the cold north. Garn nodded.

“I agree. From this day forth, the north is yours.”

Garn looked at Kazuki.

“Nothing to say young Kazuki. After all this time, you and I will have nothing to do with one another.”

Kazuki remained silent and Garn took that to mean Kazuki still held anger as well and didn’t wish to speak. The truth however was Kazuki couldn’t speak even if he tried.

Garn huffed before taking one last glance at Glacious wound covered body.

“I wonder…”

After that, he activated his palace and teleported away. As soon as his palace was completely out of sight, Glacious fell down to one knee and vomited mouthful after mouthful of blood. Etora rushed to his side in a panic.

“BROTHER!”

Etora held Glacious in his arms, only now did he notice how weak Glacious was right now.

“Big brother! what should I do? Please don’t die!”

Glacious coughed violently for a moment before he smiled.

“Idiot, stop screaming in my ear. I’ll be fine.”

“But big bro, you’ve never vomited blood. How can you smile like this? How could I not be worried”

Glacious let out a pained laugh before taking his hand and placing it over his chest. He then whispered.

“3rd form severing tempest.”

Glacious’s eyes slammed shut at this moment and he was inside his own soul world with his Mage core in front of him. His ki surrounded the lion dog face soul mark and the severing tempest raced toward it. The soul mark opened its eyes at this moment to devour the severing tempest but Glacious’s ki blocked it from devouring it.

*Schink*

The severing tempest landed on the soul mark and a small scratch stretched across its face. The soul mark seemed to go crazy at this moment and tried to draw energy from Glacious’s Mage core but Glacious blocked it with his ki. The soul mark could do nothing and Glacious fired several more severing tempest wind blades at it. 10 times, 100, 1000, 100,000. This was how many wind blades it took before finally.

*CHK*

A tiny corner of the soul mark broke away. It turned into particles of light and dissipated. The very next moment, the soul mark went back to sleep and Glacious left his soul world.

Glacious could tell that only a few seconds had passed in the real world and he couldn’t help but smile even more. Etora was still confused. In his eyes, Glacious placed his hand on his chest shut his eye for several seconds, and then opened them with a big grin.

Glacious could tell he was confused and just.

“I can now solve my problem. This battle showed me how to properly use both ki and sword forms together.”

Etora’s eyes went wide.

“Brother, you mean, that soul mark thingy?”

Glacious nodded.

“Yes, though it will take some time. I believe I can now safely remove the lion dog face soul mark and recover all of my power.”

Etora grew even more excited and shook Glacious back and forth by the shoulders. Glacious quickly pushed him away. He tried to stand on his own but he was still incredibly weak. Etora supported him.

“Sorry big bro I was just too excited. So is this why you agreed to Garn’s condition so easily. You knew you needed time to recover.”

“Yes, I couldn’t fight again. Garn probably saw through that but it no longer matters. All of my power should return within a year’s time. Not only that, the soul mark inside, I should be able to block its powers from now on. So from now on, I shouldn’t weaken any longer.”

Etora was now all smiles and felt gitty to his core. At this time, Asuna and the others finally managed to make their way there. Asuna and Kimi ran over towards Kazuki but just before they got to his side, up above.

*TZzzszzt CRACK*

Thunder boomed and lightning cracked above and the entire sky went white.

“DIEEEEE!”

A shrill voice boomed from above and hundreds of bolts of lightning fell from the sky all at once.

Lightning was just about to strike Kazuki when Etora roared out.

“YOU DARE!”

He inhaled deeply and a huge suction force pulled the lightning pass Kazuki and the ladies and it raced toward his mouth but Fera predicted this would happen. Green power surrounded the falling lightning and the lightning itself suddenly grew hundreds of times heavier. It still traveled toward Etora’s mouth but its path led it even quicker toward the ground. The heavy lightning fell between Kazuki, Asuna, and Nunully all at once and exploded.

*KA-BOOM!*

The lightning exploding directly in front of them blew them away from the epicenter. Etora kicked off the ground and raced forward as he saw Kazuki fall toward the Abyssal trench. Everything seemed to move in slow motion at this moment. Glacious tried to move forward but he was still weak and collapsed to the ground. At the same time, Etora tried to grab Kazuki before he fell into the trench but before he could, several more strikes rained down directly in front of him. Etora had no time to devour it so he simply ran through it. Fera increased gravity once more and slowed Etora while simultaneously firing dozens of bolts of lightning at Kazuki.

Kazuki was still falling but death was coming for him from above. If Etora didn’t help with the lightning the first time, Kazuki would have been done for, now that he knew the lightning was coming, he could deal with it. He grabbed the black ruler from his waist and immediately felt Azirian blood rapidly dividing and circulating in his body. He wanted to deal with it but first, he had to take care of the lightning. Raising his metal black ruler above him, it acted as a lightning rod and all of the lightning struck it all at once.

Kazuki activated his ruler and the lightning fell into it like a sponge to water. All of it was absorbed which in turn baffled Fera.

“WHAT!”

At this time, Asuna’s eyes glowed with a purple light and she yelled.

“BLINK!”

Kazuki’s body disappeared and was teleported. When he reappeared though, Asuna and everyone else were shocked. Kazuki had only moved a foot closer to the edge of the cliff but he was still over the trench. Shin didn’t realize why this happened and flew down and grabbed Kazuki by the waist.

“Hahaha, once again, I’ll be saving your sorry ass Kazuki.”

Shin said that with a laugh but when he tried to fly, he found that he could not feel his magic whatsoever. His eyes widened but it was too late. Kazuki and Shin began to fall once more into the trench.

Nunully tried to create a platform of ice beneath them to catch them but her power failed as well. Asuna once again tried to teleport them but nothing happened. Their magic was being interfered with from the trench.

As Shin and Kazuki were falling, Kazuki coughed up purplish-black blood terrifying Shin. Kazuki smiled and laughed.

“Looks like it’s me whos saving your ass.”

Kazuki then did his best to contain the Azirian blood within with his ki before using his strength and kicking Shin in the ass. Shin was thrown up and out of the trench while Kazuki accelerated faster downward.

Fera watched this with utter joy. She had no clue what this trench was but she could feel that magic could not be used within it. She extended her senses as far as she could downward and felt that the trench was several miles deep. Not only that, she sensed a terrifying presence down there as well.

Fera laughed wildly.

“BWAHAHAHAHA! DIE KAZUKI! FUCK IT! EVEN WITHOUT THE COMPASS, I WILL STILL REACH MY GOAL. YOUR DEATH WILL HAVE TO BE A CONSULTATION PRIZE FOR NOW!”

Fera continued to laugh before a blade of wind cleaved her in half and she disappeared.

Nunully ran to the edge and screamed.

“KAZUKI!!!”
