Garn stared up at Glacious but as the two’s eyes met, Garn could only avert his cold gaze. Garn knew what would happen if he pushed things further. The fact that Glacious already didn’t kill Garn for the sneak attack could be counted as a miracle and Garn knew it. At the same time, to lose so many beast cores after taking the time to gather so many was a bitter pill to swallow.
Garn was about to open his mouth when another voice came from above.
“Brother, you went ahead of me. I was wondering what you were doing but it turns out you were entertaining guest.”
A silver line of energy no bigger than 10 feet appeared in the sky. Following that, a pair of large hands stretched out from that line and expanded it forcefully, tearing open space and stepping out.
As soon as Garn saw who the figure was, he felt fury.
“You thief, you actually dare show yourself in front of me.”
A tall man nearly the same height as Glacious fell out from this tare in the sky. Glacious waved a hand and the man floated and stood next to him. His hair was platinum blonde and short and his eyes were silver. Compared to Glacious’s large muscles, this man had a slim frame but that didn’t take any of the edge away from him.
The man smiled at Garn but his words were the complete opposite.
“Garn, you old bastard! You kept me chained up for quite a long time and I nearly starved to death. If my brother didn’t already agree to let you leave this place with your life, I would carve out your flesh right here and now and grind your frail old bones between my teeth.”
(This monster. He escaped a while ago and this is where he’s been. Damn him!)
Garn pointed accusingly at the man.
“Etora, you cause a war between countries, and then you blame me for locking you away like the foul beast you are.”
“Who caused a war? I may be a beast but I didn’t start shit. It was your king and Maoudou’s king that caused things to develop as they did. Was it not because King David and King Tobern were far too greedy. They brought it onto themselves and then I get blamed for everything.”
Garn then fired back.
“It all happened because you stole that ancient treasure for yourself. You are the cause and the fall of Eden.”
Etora roared.
“WHAT! IT WAS TREIA AND MAOUDOU WHO CRUSHED EDEN LONG BEFORE I EVER SHOWED UP! YET YOU STILL DARE PLACE BLAME ON ME! DIE!”
Etora swung his fist forward at a speed neither Garn nor any onboard his ship could see.
Before Etora could inflict any damage, however, Glacious moved Etora’s fist away and his punch was aimed away from Garn.
*FWHOOOOOOOSH!*
Etora’s blow was completely deflected but a force of air shot forward towards a mountain in the distance.
*BANG!*
The side of the mountain exploded and collapsed, leaving a large gaping hole a third the size of the mountain itself in its place.
Etora turned in disbelief.
“Brother why?”
Glacious rolled his eyes but he was still a picture of calm. pointing at the distortion of space in the sky as well as his newly broken mountain he tilted his head slightly.
“You ask me why. Just who’s territory do you think you’re messing up here?”
Etora’s anger cooled instantly and he bowed deeply, realizing his mistake.
“Big bro, forgive me. You know how I get when it comes to that human. His smell alone infuriates me.”
Garn felt a bit happy in his heart. Glacious was trying to extort millions of beast cores at him for destroying a few mountains. Garn wondered excitedly what price Etora would have to pay to compensate Glacious. He was on edge waiting to see Etora’s miserable expression but what happened next made him scream inwardly.
Glacious nodded at Etora.
“Ok, your forgiven but don’t mess up any more of my stuff, it’s bothersome to fix.”
Etora smiled.
“Ok big bro, sorry.”
“Good, as long as you know.”
Garn watched this exchange and he felt as though someone twisted a rusty knife in his gut while spitting in his face.
(Just like that! he forgave that beats yet demands my beast cores. Where is the justice? These monsters, all of them are scum who deserve death. Nasty, vile, greedy creatures who know not their place.)
Just as Garn’s thoughts were starting to spiral, his eyes looked at the large hole in the far-off mountain.
At the same time, he thought about Etora’s punch and swallowed dryly.
(That power that defies magic, this damned beast has recovered completely. I can’t take him on and I dare not challenge Glacious. Damn it damn it damn it. This…This is my loss.)
Garn felt his skin itch and his blood boil. He waved his scepter and millions of Magical beast cores disappeared from the heart of Iselda and reappeared on the deck where he stood.
As soon as Etora saw this his eyes filled with hunger and he tried to come down from Glacious’s side but Glacious still held him up in the air with his power.
“Brother, release me, let me down so I can have a bite.”
Glacious shook his head.
“No, these are mine.”
Waving his hand, the millions of beast cores that had just appeared on the deck below him vanished out of thin air, a small purple glow lit up on a ring on Glacious’s finger.
Etora saw this and a line of drool spilled down his chin.
“Brother, how can you be so cruel. Just a few thousand, no more than that, please.”
“Hmph, you still don’t know how to lie. You who can devour anything and is always hungry would be satisfied with only a few thousand.”
“Big bro it’s true I swear. Just a few thousand and I won’t dare ask for more or you can strike me to into oblivion.”
Glacious sighed.
*Haaa*
Next thing he knew a few thousand cores really did come out. Etora’s eyes lit up and he opened his mouth before inhaling deeply. Those few thousand cores began flying to his mouth all at once. The man did not chew nor swallow yet every single core fell into his gullet in one go.
Etora’s stomach swelled slightly and after only a few seconds they were all gone.
*Belch*
Etora burped before patting his belly with a satisfied smile. Steam began to rise out of Etora’s pores and his muscles seem to expand slightly before retracting back to normal.
Etora’s smile vanished and he whispered under his breath.
“Damn, still not enough.”
Glacious’s ear perked up and he barked.
“What was that!”
Etora waved him away.
“Hahaha, nothing big bro, nothing at all, hahaha.”
“I thought so.”
Garn and everyone else watched this scene in awe. They simply couldn’t understand what had just happened before them. How could a creature eat Magical beast cores? The energy within them was so pure it would destroy nearly anything it was exposed to. Everyone knew this. A Magical beast core was no plaything and was meant to be handled with utmost caution and careless one accidentally explodes. If one did explode, the pure energy it released would kill a human, whether he be normal or a Mage. The energy would saturate to such a point that the ground would and all life in it would die. Air would become poison to breathe and water would become almost like acid.
They all were aware of this and even experienced it when it happened back in Tresta. A Magical beast core had gone off at the palace and a large portion of the city was destroyed. Not only that, but many lives were also lost, and even when they began to seal off the area with Garn’s dome, many more died just trying to contain that energy. Yet Etora just swallowed thousands and the after-effects were a tiny belch.
A chill ran down their spine as they looked at Etora and Glacious in a different light. One who could devour Magical beast cores as though it were nothing and the one who was the elder brother of that one. Just what have we gotten ourselves involved with they thought.
Garn as well knew Etora was strong but he never knew such a thing was possible and he began thinking about his insults earlier. Garn turned cupped his fist to Glacious.
“I have given you what you wanted so if there isn’t anything further, I shall take my leave, goodbye.”
Garn then turned around to leave but it was at this time that Etora remembered his actual purpose in coming here.
“Before you go old man there’s one more thing.”
Glacious looked at Etora in curiosity and Garn stopped in his tracks, turning around once more to face the two.
“My business was with the dragon slayer, not you. Glacious if that will be all, It’s time I take my leave.”
Garn was about to turn back around when Glacious stopped him.
“Hold.”
Garn felt uncomfortable but he still stayed where he was.
“Little brother, what is it?”
Etora pointed at Kazuki who was still squished and kneeling within Garn’s barrier.
“Give that man to me.”
