The two sat around enjoying their meal for a while when a loud call came from above.

*SCREEEeeee!*

Mei swooped down from above and dropped something from her large talon before turning into a human. Pulling out a simple plain dress from her earring, she quickly threw it on before grabbing the items she had dropped and ran over to Kazuki in excitement.

“Big bro big bro! Look at all of these treats I found in mister dragon’s backyard!”

In Mei’s hands, she hugged a large pile of different fruits and vegetables. The color and variety of them all were so vast and bright that they almost seemed to shine. Some were shaped like apples and pears while others were more cubed or the size of grapes. Kazuki hadn’t seen most of these before but a few he knew from books he read as a kid.

“These are?”

Mei quickly began to describe everything.

“This yellow one is chewy and taste like pudding and this weird brown one is hard but is like an almond. Ah and this green one doesn’t look too good but it actually is super sour and it makes your mouth feel funny.”

“Are you sure that last one isn’t just poison?”

Glacious shook his head.

“There are no poisons in my land. If it’s a fruit or a vegetable or an animal, none of them are poisonous.”

As soon as Glacious mentioned that, a flash of something appeared in Kazuki’s mind.

(A memory. This is?)

Kazuki caught glimpses of a memory of Glacious planting different plants throughout his territory.

“What is it big bro, what’s the matter?”

Kazuki pat Mei on her head.

“Nothing, I just remembered something.”

Glacious and Kazuki shared a knowing look and Glacious couldn’t help but grow excited.

Since there was nothing wrong, Mei continued explaining about all the different foods she had found. Everything was either super tasty or amazingly delicious. She then went on to explain all the incredibly beautiful spots she found to have a meal with her mom and the others. Though most of the places she described as the perfect spot, were cliffs and other high up locations. Mei loved a place she could be high up above at.

Kazuki was listening when his stomach started to grow again. He couldn’t help but pick up the skewer of fish nearby and was just about o take a bite when Mei screamed.

“FOOOOOOD!”

She then jumped at Kazuki and tried to snatch the fish from Kazuki but as soon as she did she realized she shouldn’t have and stopped.

“Little Mei how can you want my food when your hands are full of food?”

Mei smiled shyly.

“These and that are different.”

“How so?”

Mei went quiet for a moment until Kazuki pushed a skewer forward.

“How so?”

Mei took the fish not with a snatch but with a gracious and gentle grab before she tried to think up the right words.

“Ummm, the fruits are more like snacks and stuff but fish and meat are real food. I could eat a million Cagillion fruits but I’d never be satisfied. Meat though is the best in the end and is the meal. If someone took me to lunch and just gave me fruit and no meat, I wouldn’t talk to them ever again.”

“Eh, just because they didn’t give you meat?”

Mei nodded.

“Of course, how can I be around someone that doesn’t know what to eat. Don’t you know big bro that the fastest way to a lady’s heart is through food.”

Glacious and Kazuki both gave one another a stare.

“Mei Mei, I think that saying is meant for a guy.”

Mei shook her head.

“No no no, ladies need meat everybody knows that.”

“Hmm, then what do men need?”

Mei took a big bite of the piece of fish in her hand and said confidently.

“Women need meat and men of course need women, at least that’s what big sis’s mama says.”

When Mei said that, the image of a single person came to mind.

(Big sis’s mama, she must be talking about Lamia. Is she trying to fill this kid’s head with nonsense?)

After that, Mei continued to excitedly describe everything she discovered and the three chatted happily about it. When Mei had her fill, she told Glacious to look after all of her newfound tasty prizes she had collected from his forest before taking off into the sky. Once more she went to go discover more interesting things.

Only a few moments later.

*Burp*

Kazuki released a long belch and rubbed his stomach in satisfaction. He had eaten at least 30 fish by himself and only now did he have a feeling of fullness. Leaning back on a nearby log, he watched as the clouds slowly floated by.

“Are you done eating young Kazuki?”

Kazuki was so relaxed that he didn’t even sit up as he answered.

“Yep, that was great. I’ve never tasted fish like that. What seasoning did you use?”

“Seasoning? Just the basics. The flavor of the fish will be thrown off if you go too far with additives. The deep taste comes from the natural fats of this fish. These fish, by the way, are just normal trout, or rather they would just be normal trout but because they live in my clear waters, their bodies absorb magical energy and their body soaks up power. This fish is not only super tasty but also provides most of the nutrients you require, the rest you got from the ingredients in the cauldron. Speaking of the cauldron, you still have more training to do, are you ready?”

Kazuki slowly sat up. A feeling of dread coming over him as Glacious’s last sentence echoed in his head.

“More training, aren’t we done for the day?”

Glacious got up and kicked the cauldron next to him.

*Gush Slush Gush*

The green slimy liquid within splashed about, sounding out as if to respond to Glacious’s kick.

“You hear that noise? only a 5th of the liquid is gone, you still need to absorb the rest, otherwise it’s a waste.”

“But but but…”

Kazuki stammered as he tried to find the words but failed.

“But nothing. You have already recovered and your strength has improved substantially. For what reason would we wait any more than this? Did you really think you would only train once a day? How can someone become a dominating force without putting in the work? No Kazuki, you will train once more until your muscles are ripped and your body can no longer support itself. After that, I will drag you back here and dump you in my cauldron and you will take in another Magic blood orb and absorb more of this green concoction. You will do this repeatedly until all of the liquid within is no more. Remember this is not only for you but for me as well. I need what’s in your mind. You and your brother’s skills hold the key to my survival. Do you think I will let you slack because it hurts? Now follow me back to the training field or would you rather I throw you like before?”

Kazuki couldn’t help but swallow hard at the thought.

(This isn’t training, it’s torture.)

Still, there was no way Kazuki could defy Glacious and with that, he got up and meekly followed after Glacious.

Making their way back to the training field, Kazuki was ordered to once more lift the heavy ass dark green rocks and carry them to and fro, until he could move them no more.

Kazuki picked up one of the rocks he had before and found it to be quite light.

(This…it’s like its weight was reduced to a sixth or so. It’s so light.)

Kazuki wore a confident smile and began to carry the rock to the edge of the field but Glacious already knew this would happen. With a simple flick of his wrist, several inscriptions beneath Kazuki lit up, creating a golden path under his feet. As soon as it came to light, the rock in Kazuki’s hand responded with the inscriptions and doubled in weight, and then tripled. Kazuki began to grit his teeth and struggle but this was still manageable.

(Oh, his strength improved more than I thought. He may be tougher than he looks. Good, the stronger he gets, the more of my blood he will be able to absorb, and the faster he can learn to offer his own magic blood orbs. Once he’s there, I will be able to learn his ki in no time.)

Glacious flicked his wrist once more and the green rock increased in weight once more. Kazuki’s steps paused as he tied to maintain balance and keep the rock from pulling him to the ground.

He wasn’t allowed to use ki during this training and had to rely solely on his body’s physical attributes. Taking a moment to breathe in deeply, Kazuki composed himself before finally taking another step forward. As sweat started to pour down his face like a stream, and every muscle cried out in agony, slowly but surely, Kazuki made his way forward, one step at a time.
