After the little spat between mother and child, things calmed down and food came aplenty. Kazuki who was starving from earlier ignored the lust-filled gaze from Lamia and the infatuated and occasional glares from both Nunully and Asuna and ate to his heart’s content. After going through the wringer inside the cauldron multiple times, Kazuki’s senses had increased several times over. This caused his sense of taste to rise as well and now everything he shoveled into his mouth was the most delicious thing he’d ever tried. Everything was enhanced.

This wasn’t all good though. His sense of hearing went up as well and now he mindless chatter from the others sounded like a stereo turned to max. Kazuki had to constantly circulate his ki to his ears to dull the noise and lower it. In this way, he could reduce the sound of a clap of thunder into a mild snap. He also did the same for his eyes, though this was a little trickier.

He couldn’t just use ki to reduce his vision. Instead, he applied a thin invisible layer of ki over his eyes that allowed him to focus on things in his immediate area instead of magnifying things hundreds of feet away. He would need to do this for a while until he got used to it.

As he was adjusting his eyesight, he couldn’t help but notice Tilly silently reading over something. Kazuki had never seen Tilly uninterested in a drink since he met her, yet there she sat completely ignoring the flow of alcohol going back and forth in front of her.

Kazuki became curious as to what was so interesting to read that Tilly would be so absorbed.

He concentrated a little and his eyes magnified in on a schematic laid out before her. As soon as he saw it a flash of memory became unclouded within his mind.

A scene began to play out in his head. Tens of thousands of images started to fuse together and fall into place and Kazuki saw things from Glacious’s perspective.

Glacious sat side by side with a man Kazuki had not seen before. The two were building reading over schematics and building a Golem together. Kazuki could tell that this was a precious memory. After that thousands of new things began to drown out Kazuki’s thoughts and fill his head as he started to learn more and more about Golems and how they’re made. With it, hundreds of ideas started to come to mind.

Kazuki stopped eating and stared across the table. Tilly felt someone staring at her and finally noticed Kazuki.

“Hmm, what is it, do I have something on my face or have you finally noticed my fine wine-like beauty, hehehe.”

Kazuki pointed at the large piece of paper laid out in front of her.

“That is?”

“This…this is the real reason I’m here. I told you about my hobby, I love to build and make things with my own hands. Seeing a Golem when I first came here, they caught my eye. Ever since then, I’ve been trying to figure them out. I want to build one but these designs are difficult to understand. Even for me, some of these inscriptions are way to complicated.”

“Can I have a look?”

Tilly smiled.

“Oh, you’re interested. Sure, these aren’t mine anyway, why would I mind.”

Tilly winked at Glacious but he just ignored her.

With a wave of her hand, the schematics flew into the air before gently landing on a clear space next to Kazuki’s plate.

Kazuki picked up the complicated-looking drawings and took a closer look. As he did, he began to confirm a few things and an idea popped into his hand. He couldn’t help but spare a glance at a depressed Kimi before looking back at the details in his hands.

(The way golems are designed, they seem to work either completely independently depending on how advanced they are or they work along with a user’s will. Glacious controls his Golems with his will but what happens after they are out of his presence, does he still control them, or are they bound to a set of rules or instructions. I think I can use this. I’ll have to take a closer look at the Golems and learn more to fill in the gaps about Golems but I think this will work.)

Kazuki passed the schematics back.

“Oh, done already young Kazuki? It’s not like I don’t get that though. From the outside looking in, these inscriptions are challenging, and if they’re this much of a problem for me then I can only imagine what they’re like when you see them.”

Tilly gave Glacious a sideways glance.

“And the big boss over there won’t show me how they work.”

Glacious wiped his mouth before throwing it back at her.

“If you could guarantee me that you’d fix my Golems after you open them up, I’d have no problem allowing you to tinker but since you can’t, you’d only be giving me a heavy loss. After all, Golems aren’t cheap.”

Tilly rubbed her head in frustration.

“Bah, and I’m telling you if you just let me crack one open I’d be able to understand it and replicate it I’m sure of it. After that, it’d be no problem for me to fix it up and repair em. You just gotta let me in one time and I’ll know what to do.”

Glacious swigged his glass of wine for a moment as though he were considering it but the look on his face showed no leniency whatsoever.

“The answer is still no.”

“Ahh! dammit all!”

Tilly finally lost her patience and grabbed at the nearest pitcher and began to chug it down all at once.

*Urrrrppppppppp*

After a long belch, she wiped her mouth on her sleeve before starting to shove food in her mouth. Between mouth bites, a mumble or two could just barely be heard.

“Stingy old lizard.”

Etora’s ears twitched and he heard her perfectly well.

“How dare you call my big bro stingy. After everything, he’s done for you. Allowing you to stay here and all and even letting you look at his Golems and this is how you repay the favor. Sure he won’t let you crack open a Golem or destroy a mountain or two. Sure he won’t let you eat all the food in the forest and drink all the sweet refreshing water but but…Where was I going with this?”

Etora began to lose direction and it was clear he replaced Tilly with himself midway through defending Glacious and had lost his way. Mei wasn’t one to let her new friend go astray and helped.

“Mister wolf you were talking about how stingy mister dragon was.”

Etora thought for a moment and found that seemed to be right and was about to go off on Glacious when Glacious snapped his fingers and a large Golem walked in and dropped a huge platter of meat down in front of Etora. Both Etora and Mei locked eyes for a moment before they exchanged a huge smile with one another and dug into the food before them.

“Hahaha, big bro is the most generous in all the land, right little Mei?”

Mei nodded repeatedly while sweeping food into her mouth with her hands. After swallowing several mouthfuls she replied cheerily.

“Right, Mister dragon is super super genasys.”

Tsura wanted to smack herself in the head, seeing her daughter being played so easily for food.

She grabbed a napkin and began cleaning up Mei’s face while complaining.

“Mei, stop shoveling in food for a moment look at all the mess.”

Mei allowed her mom to clean her up but the moment Tsura was done, Mei went right back into eating like a pig. Tsura sighed and gave up.

“I can’t win. When it comes to food you love it even more than your mother.”

Mei stopped eating and stared at her mother in shock.

“That’s not true!”

She then for some reason began to count on her fingers. She held up all of her fingers on one hand and chuckled lightly.

“I love mama this much and food, hmm…”

She then held up all but one finger on the other hand.

“I love food this much. See mama you come first.”

Tsura pouted a bit then she held up all the fingers on both of her hands.

“You only love mama that much but mama loves you this much.”

Tsura then grabbed Mei with both her hands and began tickling her.

“I love you this much and this much and this much. How can you love mama almost as much as you love food? Your gonna make me cry.”

Mei was laughing uncontrollably and then she began tickling Tsura back.

“Bwahahaha, I love you this much mama this much, hahahaha.”

The two shared a sweet moment with one another and then Shin chimed in.

“Mei Mei, what about me? How much do you love me?”

Mei stopped laughing and looked at Shin with the most serious face she could muster and began thinking really hard.

“Hmm, big bro Shin how many is the lowest amount?”

Shin felt a sting in his chest.

“Haha what do you mean Mei? The lowest amount is obviously one. Don’t tell me I’m only a one in your eyes?”

Mei thought for a moment and shook her head. This brought a bit of hope to Shin but Mei crushed him in a single moment.

“If one is the lowest then Mei likes you less than that.”

The whole room went silent for a moment before Asuna burst out in wild laughter.

“Bwahahahahahaha! One, you’re actually less than a one. Hahaha, serves you right!”

Before Asuna could gloat for too long, Mei fired at Asuna as well.

“Hmm, big sis you are also just under a one.”

Asuna froze on the spot. This would be the perfect opportunity for Shin to laugh at her but he was still feeling shell-shocked.

Everyone as well was a little taken aback by this low score of love and just as the silence was about to reach an awkward level, Mei laughed and pointed at the both of them.

“Hahahehe, just kidding. There’s no way you guys are less than a one. Mei isn’t that mean.”

A sense of relief washed over the two and then Mei added.

“You guys are at least a two.”
