Tsura was in the kitchen with 20 pots and pans going all at once. Each one filled to the brim with food. Boiling, frying, stewing, sauteing, she was doing it all while also constantly checking on a few stoves full of meat or bread.

A bit of sweat dripped from her brow as she kept busy but a large smile never left her face. A few feet behind her, Lamia sat at a counter sipping a drink and conversing with her.

“Tsura how can you keep up with all of that cooking, isn’t it exhausting?”

Tsura nodded.

“It is exhausting but at the same time I love it.”

“Hmm, is it really so fun to take over the work of 5 golems and make everyone’s meals?”

Lamia ladled a bit of soup and blew on it a few times before giving it a taste. Adding 2 pinches of salt, she stirred it together satisfied.

“After Glacious decided to train everyone, he needed all of his golems to gather ingredients for his cauldron. With the golems busy with their task, someone needed to keep up with the meals, otherwise, people will go hungry.”

“That’s not what I asked. I meant is my big brother bullying you? Should I step in and put him in his place.”

Lamia waved her small fist in the air in a threatening manner but the smile on her face clearly showed she was just teasing.

“Lamia I really do enjoy this. After traveling for so long with Mei and fighting time and time again for our lives, I was ready for a break. Coming here, it’s so peaceful it’s almost scary. With no danger around and nothing to do, it becomes boring rather quickly.”

“Are you saying you’d rather be out of this tiny world and back in the frying pan? Though I’d have to agree with the boring part. My daughter has never been much for entertaining people and besides you, the only other mature one to talk to is Tilly. However, she and I have nothing in common. I like gossip and men, while she is only interested in drinking or working on magic tools and the creation of the golem. The only thing I can rely on for fun and stress relief is Kazuki but because he’s training with big bro all throughout the day and then after dinner, he trains with Glacious for the night, I never get him alone. All I want to do is tackle him and drag him back to my room but Glacious keeps getting in my way and claiming I’m interfering with his training. It’s so frustrating. I don’t have to tell you though. Being a woman and seeing the young men come back with bulging muscles covered in sweat…”

Lamia licked her lips and leaned slightly over the counter. Her plump breast pressing against the countertop and her beating heart increasing as she began imagining the things she would do or what would be done to her on a fateful night where all inhibitions fall away and the natural act between men and women explodes like a lust-filled volcano.

“Fufufu, the temptation is undeniable, am I right?”

Tsura went quiet for a moment before muttering.

“I…I wouldn’t know.”

Lamia’s brow rose slightly.

“Hmm, what do you mean you wouldn’t know? You can’t tell me that you’re not attracted to one of the boys. Kazuki, there’s no question about him and Sam’s large sturdy muscles are what women dream of. Even Shin has a few good points, though don’t tell him I said that, it would go to his head. For little guys like him who are still wet behind the ears, you can’t ever give them a hint of interest or they’ll pester you to death. Letting them question everything and teasing them is the funniest. Out of the three which one has caught your eye?”

Tsura shook her head.

“None of them.”

Lamia stood up and walked up behind Tsura before hugging her from behind and grabbing her breast, giving them a squeeze.

Tsura dropped a spoon directly into the boiling pot and jumped, releasing a cute squeal.

“Kyahh!”

She barked at Lamia.

“What do you think you’re doing!?”

Lamia started to knead Tsura’s breasts and laughed.

“Fufufuf, I’m just messing with you until you tell me which guy you think about late at night when you grind against your pillow.”

Tsura felt a little shocked by this and pinched Lamia’s hands.

Lamia quickly released her and yelped in pain.

*Owwww*

“What was that for!? I was only messing with you. You can’t seriously be telling me you don’t think about any of them at all.”

“I don’t, I already have someone…”

Tsura’s words got stuck in her throat as she almost admitted to doing the deed to herself but it was already too late as Lamia picked up on it.

“Fufufu, so you do flick the bean at night. Not on,y that you were saying you already have someone. Now, this is getting juicy, out with it.”

Tsura’s face paled before turning pinker and pinker. She quickly hid her face in her apron in embarrassment as she mumbled out.

“Flick the bean, how vulgar.”

Lamia ignored her embarrassment and pulled her up to the counter.

“Come come, you’ve already admitted it. Now have a seat and tell me who this guy is that has you so infatuated that you play with the clam every single night.”

Tsura almost sat down when Lamia mentioned a clam. At first, she didn’t understand but not even a second later it clicked and she once more jumped. Her face now becoming red. She tried t turn and leave but Lamia grabbed her shoulder. Even though Tsura had terrifying strength that could crush a boulder and Lamia was just a regular human, because Tsura was completely embarrassed, she couldn’t seem to put up a single resistance to Lamia’s pull.

Lamia pat a seat in delight and sat Tsura down before running to the other side of the table and sitting down.

“Tell me, tell me everything! Who is this man you speak of!?”

Tsura didn’t know what to say or do but at the same time, she had no one else she could talk to about such matters. Maybe, maybe it was ok to talk and share she thought.

“My husband.”

As soon as Lamia heard this, she felt disappointed.

(So it was just merely her husband. Here I thought it was something interesting, it’s just her husband.)

Lamia picked up her cup and began drinking it as she became uninterested in this same old same old story. But just as she was thinking it was the same old stuff, Tsura continued.

“My husband as well as Danny. I, I think about them both.”

Lamia was sitting there nodding along when what Tsura said clicked in her mind and she almost spit her drink out everywhere. Thankfully, she had been a hostess and a professional for many years and she managed to clench her mouth tightly shut and swallow her drink without spilling.

As soon as she did, she shouted.

“Your husband and another fellow! Here I thought you were a prude but you think about two different men when you rub one out.”

Tsura got up to leave but Lamia quickly pulled her back into her seat.

“Sorry sorry, continue. I won’t mention that anymore so please keep going. I didn’t even know you had a husband and this Danny fellow, that’s not the companion of yours that died recently is it?”

Tsura felt bitterness and sadness in her heart as she nodded.

“My late husband and Danny, they both died. After my husband died, I resigned myself to being alone. Yes, Mei was there with me but I told myself I would never love another man again. That’s when Danny came along.”

“Hmm, for you to act this way, he must have been amazing. Was he super strong or rich?”

Tsura shook her head.

“Danny, no. Danny was a coward. At the same time, he was one of the bravest men I knew. Constantly fearful and cautious of the world but when he needed to be strong he was. He was kind, sweet and so smart. He would sometimes try and explain difficult things to me, like the stars in the night sky. I couldn’t understand much of it at all but when he seriously tried to teach me about things, he became very passionate and it affected me in a different way than my late husband did. We grew closer and closer and I even tried to teach him how to cook. He could be clumsy and slow at those times but that made him cute. The way he interacted with those children back in Burashi village and my heart grew warmer for him. I don’t understand my heart. How can I love two men? How can the gods make me fall in love twice and then twice take them from me? It’s cruel, too cruel. What did I do wrong, why did this have to happen?”

Tears began to well up in the corner of Tsura’s eyes and Lamia felt for her.

Lamia came around the table and hugged her seriously this time. She softly stroked Tsura’s hair and whispered.

“You are not to blame, never think that way. You’re right, the gods are indeed cruel. They took the men you love away as well as my own husband. At the same time, they gave you your daughter and mine. The world can be so vile sometimes but as long as we still have those around us that love us and we love them all back, things will be ok. You and me, we both understand why love is precious and why it’s coveted, and also why it needs to be protected. Because we know this, it makes it that much harder when it falls away. But it doesn’t fall away completely. We still have it right here.”

Lamia pulled Tsura’s head into her chest.

“Listen.”

*Ba da ba da ba da bada*

Tsura listened to Lamia’s heartbeat and she felt warmth in her own. Her breathing steadied and she closed her eyes and just listened to it for a while as her tears fell and she sobbed.

After a few minutes, the two began to smell something burning.

“Ahh! the bread. Quickly help me take them out!”

The two jumped into action and threw open several ovens and desperately took out all of the bread before they were burnt to a crisp. After the bread was safe, Tsura and Lamia had a million other things to do as the pots and pans on top of the stove were about to be ruined. Scrambling around for nearly an hour and the two were finally done.

Sitting down, the two collectively heaved sighs of relief. Tsura had a few beads of sweat on her brow but she was still ok just a little tired Lamia, on the other hand, was dripping with sweat and panting for breath.

Tsura passed her a cup of cold juice and Lamia downed it in one go. As soon as Lamia finished her drink, Tsura hugged her.

“Thank you.”

Lamia was a little surprised but she understood and hugged her back.

“That’s what we girls do.”
