Tobern smiled at the news, while Garn on the other hand was furious. Garn aimed his scepter at King Brian’s holographic image, threateningly.

“Spying on my territory is bad enough but the fact that you’ve held your tongue til now about an army of Azirians rising in my land, are you wishing for death!?”

Brian raised a brow but remained calm as he retorted.

“And how would one go about speaking with the great hero Garn, hmm? So busy you’ve been. Locked away, out of sight. Working on who knows what, while your lands suffer. I’ve sent many messengers to open a dialogue but you’ve refused them every time. Your secretary can confirm this as well. Every time, no matter how urgent the news was, you were in no mood and wished to not be disturbed. Even today, it took such a strange phenomenon for you to finally hold a conversation with me and you have the gall to blame me. As for spying on a neighbor. Only a fool would not watch ever-increasing dangers just because it’s not polite.”

Garn felt nothing but mockery and contempt from Brian’s calm words.

“Are you saying I am such a fool, King Brian?”

Brian shook his head.

“I have no need to call you anything. Your actions alone are more than enough for any to see whether you are a fool or not. A king who coops himself up for months on end, while disasters arise in their own backyard. A king who ignores the plights of his people. A king who pursues summoned heroes to put them to death. A king who angered Glacious, a sleeping monster by poking it. You lost your ultimate weapon Iselda and instead of looking at your own mistakes, you try and build an even bigger, stronger weapon. Are you not doing this for petty revenge or do you see yourself as the hero who will save these lands? Either way, it is clear for all to see, whether or not you are a fool.”

Garn felt his blood boil. This way of speaking was it not a direct attack on Garn. It attacked his ego and forced him to realize his own incompetencies.

“Boy king, you provoke me to no end. Do you wish for war so badly? Shall I grant it and show you just who is the sleeping monster being poked?”

Tobern’s grin grew as he watched this exchange. He imagined a bloody battle erupting because of this and he foresaw the two sides weakening one another to such a degree, that he could then sweep the two aside and claim rule over the entirety of the Feya continent.

(More, provoke each other more. I’ll take everything after things settle and all of your lands and wealth will belong to me,hehehe.)

Counter to his thoughts though, king Brian shook his head.

“No, I do not want war but instead peace. I do not say these things to start a war but my words are indeed there to provoke you. Ever since I was a small child, I grew up hearing all of the stories, all of the legendary tales of the great Hero Garn. The man who could overturn the mountains. The mighty hero who saved his king many a time. The man who helped build cities with his own two hands and saved starving orphans and took them under your wing teaching them magic. When I heard of your student, Alice’s death, I knew how much that must have devastated you. To then learn that it was your very king David as well as Rust the number one knight in Treia who set things in motion to frame you, once again I felt it. When I heard of your imprisonment, I personally spoke with king David and protested on your behalf. At that point though, it seemed David’s mind was already unbalanced. I was personally set to come to Treia in-person to again see if I could help but then I heard of your daring escape and take over of Treia. I held a celebration in your honor that very night.”

Tobern didn’t like where this was going and was about to speak up but Garn spoke first.

“What are you trying to say? You provoked me to light a fire under my ass?”

Brian nodded.

“Exactly. I am an outsider but when you took over I thought deep down inside that, that was what was best for Treia. If it was hero Garn who controls Treia, things would change for the better. However, now things are different, rather it is you who are different. You have become obsessed with petty revenge as well as ignoring your own people, pleas, and focusing all of your time and energy on whatever it is your creating. I provoke you for your people, I provoke you for Treia itself and I provoke you for all of Feya. This world needs Garn the hero. Can you not be both King and Hero? Can you not put down your obsessions over your creation and help destroy the Azirian’s and bring about peace once more to this world?”

Garn’s anger receded, as he took all of these words in. He had been obsessive to no end. He had locked himself away and ignored the happenings of the world to such a degree that he failed to notice the enemy in his own territory until they were creating a disaster. This would happen no more.

Garn though still questioned one thing.

“I’m curious. Your words are inspiring and one could easily become lost in them but that doesn’t change the fact that you knew about these Azirian’s growing in my land. Now that I am aware of them, with no Miasma to protect them, I can crush them easily enough. However, if I didn’t take notice, at a certain point, they could have continued to multiply until even I could not deal with them. By this account, were you not hoping for the Azirian’s to grow even more until I was completely overwhelmed and my kingdom was lost?”

King Brian went silent for a moment and he began tapping his finger quietly on the armrest beside him. Tobern thought things were about to be buried between the two but now that Garn brought this backup, he was anticipating things to erupt once more. Once more though Brian was quick-witted.

“After everything that’s happened. I selfishly thought, what if Garn was no more. What if it was I who took control of the world as we know it. This line of thinking though is dangerous and only corrupts. If there is no Garn, then the Azirian’s will only destroy us all. Not only that, even if all of the Azirian’s are somehow eliminated, with how unstable all of the other countries are at the moment, war would surely break out. I know that is something that one kingdom alone can not handle. I need you, Garn, I need Treia and its people to help settle the chaos that would surely unfold if you weren’t around. I know all of this now, without you, this world, it can not function without all of us coming together properly and taking hold of the smaller kingdoms. Only when we have control can this world work properly. So once more, I implore you, give up on your creation which you’ve obsessed over, and let’s work together, all three of us. We can start with the ever-growing problem in the northeast.”

Garn went quiet and Tobern gripped his fist tightly out of sight of the others. At the same time, Brian felt euphoria. Things were going exactly as he wanted, that it was almost scary.

(With this, Garn will not see me as an enemy but as an ally. At the same time, he will stop building this new weapon. Iselda was bad enough but I could still somewhat handle that floating island. The new weapon he’s been making, by the reports I’ve read…The thought alone is a terrifying one. It needs to be put out of commission if I am to take this continent.)

As Brian was deep in thought, Garn’s words snapped him back and then crushed him in one go.

“King Brian your right. I have been obsessed, no beyond that. I’ve had blinders on this entire time as I tried to achieve my goal. I’ve also been thinking about revenge but at the same time, it was Glacious’s words and his actions that forced me to reach a conclusion. It took him destroying Iselda for me to see it’s many flaws. Because of that, it took quite a while but there’s no longer a need to devote my all to completing my new weapon. After all, it is already perfect.”

King Tobern and King Brian at the exact same time said.

“What!”

Garn took the scepter in his hand and stamped it down on the ground. As soon as he did a vibration made its way through the entire palace and thousands of inscriptions along the floors and walls all began to glow at once.

“You heard me correct. I no longer need to work on my weapon as I completed it yesterday. It is perfect in every way and now this is the perfect time for a demonstration. After this though, there will be no need for cooperation between our nations. Once you all see my weapons power, you will naturally follow my lead.”

Garn waved his scepter in the air and the palace began to glow in purple light. The very next moment, a brilliant flash took over the skies for a split second before the entire palace disappeared from sight.
