This dark energy invaded his body and coursed through him like it was his blood. Kazuki circulated his ki and tried to push it out of his body but found that this dark energy clung to his insides and pulled at him when he pushed. This dark energy was incredibly heavy and pure. It was similar to the purity a magical beast core would have inside of it.
That type of pure magic should kill someone in seconds. The high concentration becomes like a poison that overruns a person’s system and corrupts. It would cause a person’s magic to completely go out of their control and kill the user yet this black magic coursing through him was causing no harm in the least.
Kazuki quickly found the reason why. He could feel godly aura continuously seeping out of the compass around his neck. It was slowly entering his mage core whilst simultaneously suppressing the dark energy inside. Kazuki didn’t understand how or why but he knew his compass had somehow saved him. Not only from the dark energy flowing inside him but from the Azirian blood, as well as his fall. Thinking up to here Kazuki remembered his broken ruler.
He had pumped it full of godly aura and caused it to extend and take the brunt of the impact for him but after he fell, he was thrown away from his black ruler due to the vibrations running through it.
Looking around him was a waste of time. The place was filled with darkness in every single direction. Even looking up towards the sky, there wasn’t even a fragment of light peering down to guide him.
Kazuki shut his eyes and used his other heightened senses. He listened and sniffed at the air. As soon as he inhaled deeply through his nose, he felt a sharp pain in his left lung and had a nasty coughing fit. After a moment he cleared his throat and could breathe somewhat normally again.
(My body hasn’t healed fully. I need to take it easy or else I could reopen my wounds.)
Kazuki extended his ki all around him. He could only stretch it about 10 or so feet away from himself so he couldn’t see too far ahead of himself.
Though within that 10 feet, with his ki, everything was clear. It was almost like having another eye but again, past 10 feet and it was a seemingly infinite expanse of darkness.
*Skt skidd skt*
Kazuki could hear a few small creatures scratching the ground as they walked. With his ears, he could pinpoint their exact location and found them to be around 20 feet away.
(Somethings ahead of me.)
Kazuki wondered if he should move forward or back. His main objective was to get out of this place. In order to do so, an escape route would need to be found. Kazuki used his ki and found that he was near the cliff wall. He could tell it was covered in spikes.
(This wall goes nearly straight up but it’s covered in those dangerous spikes. Not only that even if there’s a clearing where there are no spikes on the wall, to climb up is nearly impossible.)
In order to climb such a wall that was harder than steel, that Kazuki found almost impossible to penetrate even with his black ruler, he would need to find cracks or other footholds naturally along the wall. But with his vision gone right now, he could only sense so far around him. Were he to start a climb and run out of places to grab going up, he would have no choice but to climb back down.
Kazuki tried to access his storage ring or Tilly’s but he couldn’t use any magic as something was interfering.
(I have tools, weapons, food, and water in my rings but I can’t pull anything out. Climbing up and down the wall could be a large waste of both time and energy. If I didn’t have ki, with my body I could last a month or so without food or water but that’s if I sit still and do nothing. With ki, I can last even longer and it seems my ki can still be replenished and used down here so that’s good at least. I’ll need to find a natural path up this cliff, one without spikes jutting out the side of it. To do that I should probably stick to the side of the wall as I go. First things first though, I should try and find the broken half of my ruler.)
With no access to tools or weapons, Kazuki’s broken ruler was an important asset. Even in its broken state, it could still be used and with its ability to change sizes, weight, become sharper, it was worth more than its weight in gold.
(I need to find my ruler.)
With that thought, Kazuki listened a bit more and when he thought it was safe, he took his first step forward into the black void.
As soon as he took a single step though, he found his body froze as the Azirian blood inside began to rapidly replicate.
(I REALLY FUCKING FORGOT!)
Kazuki was about to use his ki when he remembered the godly aura leaking out of his golden compass and filling his mage core. He didn’t know if it would work but found it worth a shot and tried to control it with a thought.
…
…
Nothing happened.
The Azirian blood coursed through his body. Without Kazuki’s ki to force it out or contain it, it ran about inside him as though it owned the place. Kazuki quickly blocked it with his ki and forced it out of him.
Purplish black blood splashed was pushed out of his pores and splashed on the ground, dissolving part of the ground with a sizzle.
(I can’t go anywhere without getting rid of Reya’s foul after effects.)
Kazuki gripped the compass around his neck in frustration.
(Why won’t this fucking thing work when I want it to.)
*Skd skidd skitter*
Kazuki was in his own thoughts when he heard the movement change from the creatures ahead of him.
(Whatever they are, they’re coming towards me. Fuck, I can’t take a step from this spot without the Azirian blood basically paralyzing me.)
Several creatures appeared swiftly. With his ki, Kazuki could see what they looked like. Each one had dozens of legs covered in pointed hairs. With rounded backs and heads that were shaped triangular, these things stopped a few feet away from Kazuki. There were 7 of them in total and none had eyes at all. instead, they had 1 large cone-shaped hole opening and closing on their back.
One of these odd creatures took two of its front legs and rubbed them together. The pointed hairs on its legs made clicking noises when rubbed and it sounded like someone snapping their fingers over and over again. These creatures were an ugly sight to see with ki but when Kazuki heard one of them start making snapping noises, he found it both odd and kind of funny.
“What the hell are you?”
It was just a simple question, one that slipped due to curiosity but as soon as he spoke, Kazuki saw the large cone-shaped hole on the creatures back open and close rapidly. Not just the one inf front of it but the other 6 as well. They all turned in his direction and opened their mouths.
Rows of sharp teeth and drool appeared. All at once, these seven strange insect looking creatures all jumped at him. Kazuki raised a brow and was ready to punch out. The first one jumped at his face and he punched it hard in its underbelly.
*Bam*
The creature was knocked away but to Kazuki’s surprise, it didn’t die. Kazuki didn’t use all of his strength with that blow but a bug whether it was that big or not should have exploded into a thousand pieces from Kazuki’s blow.
At the same time, Kazuki felt the Azirian blood start to move. He quickly used his ki to contain it but he had to throw out more punches to fend off these stupid bugs. Kazuki swiftly delivered 6 more punches, each one he used more and more strength, and each one was again knocked away and again none of them died. Kazuki wore a look of shock as he coughed up mouthfuls of Azirian blood. He had to punch and then block the azirian blood. The blood would go rampant every time he moved and there was nothing he could do but continuously use his ki.
(Damn you Reya!)
Kazuki purged the blood and tried to calm himself down and think about what to do next.
(I failed to kill those ugly things but I launched them pretty far away with my strikes. They won’t be coming back to bother me but in case they do I better hurry up and figure out how to fully contain Reya’s attack. After that, I should quickly find my ruler and head out before I waste even more time.)
*Skd skitter skitter*
It had only been a few moments since Kazuki sent those things flying but he was already hearing them and they were heading right for him.
(These little bastards! You wish to have a taste of me so badly!)
