Kazuki was feeling exasperated up to this point.
(This damn forgetful gorilla.)
The old ape’s eyes became dull as he stared off into space. Kazuki couldn’t tell if the old one was trying to recall or if his mind was lost to him at this time.
(Should I speak up? but what if he really is trying to remember how to weaponize aura and I break his concentration. No at this rate we’ll just be going in circles.)
“Senior, that damage to your brain, I believe I can help alleviate it if not fix it completely. Would you like me to try?”
(“Brain damage?”)
The old ape seemed confused before life started to return to his eyes.
(“Ah, that’s right I have a few problems remembering some things. It’s all up in there but just when I’m on the verge of tapping into it, it seems to slip away. You’re saying ya can help fix me? I don’t mean to throw doubt at ya but I don’t see how ya can, ya know, on account of ya being chained up over there.”)
“So are you saying you don’t want my help here?”
The old ape became curious.
“I ain’t saying that. If ya think ya can fix this old King, I ain’t one to turn away a gift. What did ya have in mind?”)
“Just sit tight. Once my power reaches you, you should feel some warm energy. Don’t resist it, just let it flow naturally through you.”
(“Hmm, this should be interesting. If ya can really do it then please go ahead and try, hehehah.”)
Kazuki closed his eyes and began circulating his ki. Using it, he could heal most anything internal wise. Forming a tendril of ki, Kazuki extended it outward but of course he was met with an immediate problem. After about 10 feet, Kazuki could stretch his ki no further. From him to the old ape, the distance was about 20 feet. Kazuki knew this but he had an idea. After finding new ways to manipulate his aura by folding it over top of itself, thereby creating more layers, he wondered if it was possible to do the same with ki. Except instead of folding ki over top of itself, he would make it thinner whilst upping his concentration.
Kazuki imagined his outstretched ki thinner and thinner. It went from a thickness of something similar to an arm to as thin as a thread in only a few seconds. Keeping his focus to his utmost, Kazuki willed his ki forward little by little. The outstretched ki went from around 10 feet in length to almost 13 at that moment.
Taking a deep breath Kazuki had a small grin.
(It worked. Now we need to make it smaller and smaller, like butter over toast. It needs to be so small that it almost sinks in with the environment itself.)
With this thought in mind, Kazuki made his ki even thinner. From the thickness of a thread to that of a needle, and then a sheet of paper.
(Smaller and smaller.)
From that of a sheet of paper to that of a hair divided in half. Kazuki’s ki inched forward until it was almost 15 feet in length. After ti reached this point though, Kazuki could stretch it no more. His ki was so small at this point that even with all of his focus on it, he was still losing connection with it. It was like holding a kite in the wind. At first, the kite would fly and soar, carried by the updraft but now the higher it went, the harder and faster the wind would blow, ripping the kite from Kazuki’s hands. His ki was so thin that at the end of it, Kazuki could no longer feel its presence.
Kazuki stopped for a moment and recalled his energy. He had to find another way to get his ki to the old ape.
*Haa*
Releasing a sigh, Kazuki wondered if there was another way. At the same time, the old ape was still waiting.
(“So when are ya gonna do it? Maybe ya already did. Sorry but I don’t think it worked. Are ya sure ya know what you’re doing Kazuki?”)
Kazuki didn’t bother opening his eyes as he replied.
“I’m trying to think of a way to do it. My energy doesn’t stretch that far.”
The old ape nodded.
(“I get it…actually I don’t get it, why won’t your aura reach me. Were barely 20 feet away ya know. It can’t make it this far?”)
Kazuki rolled his eyes without opening them.
“My aura can reach you just fine, it’s not my aura that needs to get close though. Just be quiet for a few minutes senior while I try to figure this out.”
The old ape nodded his head repeatedly.
(“Right right right right. Question, how were ya planning on fixing my head anyway.”)
Kazuki opened his eyes slowly, a low groan escaped his lips as a look of annoyance was clear as day on his face.
“If I answer you, senior could you please give me a few minutes of peace so I can think properly?”
(“Of course youngin. You figuring this out helps us both in the end. I’m just curious. Even my bastard of a son has tried many things to fix this old king’s wound but he couldn’t figure it out in the end. If he did he’d have challenged me long ago and I could have either died or lived and ruled long ago. It’s just the waiting that kills ya more than anything else, ya know.”)
The old ape’s words were starting to drag on. Kazuki quickly interrupted him before he went any further.
“Senior, I have a power that can heal practically any internal injury. The problem is I can only use it up to a certain range. Any further and I can no longer feel it. I’m trying to figure out how to get it from here to you without losing that connection. Now that you understand could you ple
(“Hmm, ya don’t say.”)
The old ape interrupted this time.
(“So after you stretch it too far ya can’t feel it no more. Does that mean the energy disappears or you simply lose control of it?”)
Kazuki was irritated being interrupted but since he did it first and the old ape wasn’t doing it maliciously, he just let it slide off his back.
“Ki energy won’t disappear just like that. After a few minutes of not being used by me or returned to me, it will begin to fade back into the environment. But after it’s no longer connected to me, of course, I lose control of it.”
(“Hmm, that’s interesting. So then is this ki energy dangerous at all? My body’s not gonna all the sudden explode because of this energy right?”)
Kazuki shook his head.
“Ki on its own is a part of life energy and part of the world itself. By itself, it can cause no harm and only help and be beneficial. Only when it’s being used by someone can it be considered dangerous and that’s only due to the way a being uses it. I can enhance my muscles using it giving myself greater attack power. In that way, it can be considered dangerous.”
The old ape grew excited hearing all of this.
(“So you’re saying it wont harm my body if it’s just in me and will only be a benefit and the only restriction from it getting to me is your lack of what exactly? Why not just use your aura than to deliver it to me, problem solved, right?”)
Kazuki almost scoffed.
“That won’t work because once I lose the connection…Wait…why won’t it work?”
The old ape tilted his head in confusion.
(“You’re asking me?”)
Kazuki’s eyes widened.
(Why won’t it work! If I use my aura like a balloon, I can trap a portion of my ki inside of it. Then I can move across my cell to seniors and …)
Kazuki gathered a portion of his ki and pushed it outside of his body. After that, he surrounded all of it with a bubble of aura. Stretching it forward, Kazuki lost the connection with his ki after 15 or so feet but with his aura still touching it, he could still feel his ki inside the aura bubble. The sensation was an odd one. He could feel and sense the ki inside of the aura bubble with his aura but the ki was no longer a part of his being and was both foreign yet familiar.
Kazuki brushed that feeling aside and continued stretching his aura forward and in doing so, he easily covered the distance between him and the old gorilla. As his aura came into contact with the ape, the old ape felt a heavyweight upon his body for a brief moment. The very next, Kazuki used his aura to push the ki into the ape’s body. He would have targeted the ape’s injury but now that the ki was no longer under his control it would spread evenly throughout the ape’s body with no one to command it.
As soon as Kazuki pushed the energy into the old ape, he pulled his aura back. The old ape’s expression went from confusion to pleasant surprise as he felt a warming sensation spread through his entirety.
Old wounds that could not be fixed in a regular manner began to mend. Weekend bones, muscles, and organs strengthened and were renewed by a small extent. Blood began to circulate faster and with relatively more ease and the ape felt strength in his body. The injury to his brain slowly started to recover and even the scar on the side of his head shrunk by a small fraction.
The old ape hadn’t felt so good in a long time and felt a moment of pure euphoria as the warmth continued to flow throughout him. After almost a minute or so, the warmth faded away. This saddened the old ape for a brief few seconds but after that, his expression changed as something came to him.
“Senior how are you feeling?”
The old ape shook his head.
(“Don’t call me senior, instead…call me Oren.”)
