Seeing his father free and using the crown with ease, Groud was filled with unease. At the same time, he couldn’t back down in front of all of his apes.
He puffed out his chest and beat it three times like a drum.
*Thump Thump Thump*
(“Father…Return the crown to me immediately and I might just look past this small transgression of yours.”)
Oren’s body flashed and he appeared before Groud like a ghost. Holding the crown in his hands he flipped it a few times teasingly.
(“This crown? Ya want me to hand it over to ya?”)
Groud’s expression began to turn to anger and he was about to roar but before he managed to a heavy aura came pressing down atop his shoulders. Groud resisted at first but with every passing second, he felt the weight of the aura increase again and again. In less than a second, the aura became far too much for him to bear and he was forced to take a knee.
Groud recognized the aura immediately and stared up at his father in shock.
(“What’s wrong son? If ya want the crown, simply reach out a hand and take it from me.”)
Oren held the crown out and dangled it on the edge of a finger right in front of Groud’s face.
Groud tried desperately to lift his hand to grab the crown but the higher his hand moved up, the heavier it felt before the heavy feeling became overbearing and his arm came slamming back down into the ground.
Humiliation, horror, rage, confusion, everything flooded Groud’s mind all at once but still, he was in denial.
(“How…How can this be? You were barely holding your mind together and now you’re suppressing me with aura. How?”)
Oren ignored his son’s question.
(“Well if ya ain’t gonna take it, I minus well hang on to it for a little while longer, right?”)
Twirling the crown on his finger, he tossed it into the air before catching it perfectly atop his head.
Groud couldn’t understand how this had come to be at was at a loss for words. Kazuki on the other hand couldn’t help but smile like a cunning fox.
“You underestimated me a bit too much. Not only did you underestimate my capabilities, but you also underestimated just how much your father hates you. You see, while I was trapped in your little prison, I got to talking with your pops. The two of us had something in common, an enemy, you. I healed your father’s mind and in exchange, he taught me a few interesting things about how to use aura. The moment after you controlled one of your soldiers to kick me around, I used my aura to knock the crown to your father. Did you really think I was just gonna sit around while you heal yourself with a potion? You were so focused on healing and destroying me, that for a brief instant, you no longer cared about your crown or where it was.”
Oren took a step forward, announcing to the whole arena.
(“Groud has shown his true face here and now. You all should now understand whether he has actual honor or not. He lied to all of you for many years and if it wasn’t clear, he cheated during this fight by poisoning his opponent. He betrayed you all, he betrayed me. He is not fit to be king…and so…I have taken back my power. If anyone disagrees, step forward right now and strike me down.”)
Oren spread out his aura further until it covered the entire arena. He suppressed everyone at once. The apes might not understand what was happening, after all, many weren’t aware of what aura really was. Kazuki and Groud though knew and were both equally shocked by the way Oren used it.
Expanding it out to cover the entire arena was already an incredible feet but what really left the two bewildered was the fact that Oren was suppressing people with different amounts of weight. The Adrola apes filling the stands were not all the same. Some were strong, robust and tough, soldiers. Others were weaker such as the normal citizens and then you have the children who are quite fragile.
Oren put heavy pressure and weight on the soldier, covering them in aura that weighed from several thousand pounds to 10’s of thousands of pounds. For the normal citizens, he pressed them with a few hundred pounds up to a thousand or so and for the children even less. Oren did this taking into account everyone’s strength and pressed them depending on what they could actually take.
This means Oren was controlling his aura in tens of thousands of different ways all at once. This level of mastery was something hard to put in words and left both Groud and Kazuki absolutely dumbfounded.
In the arena though, the apes were feeling differently. A few of the stronger ones who initially saw Groud lose his crown had immediately wanted to jump in and claim authority but once Oren’s aura touched them, their courage drained into the pound of no fucking way in an instant.
With no one stepping up, Oren smirked and released his aura, pulling it back inside.
He returned his gaze back to Groud who swiftly turned his eyes away. Oren couldn’t help but snort in disgust before turning back to Kazuki.
(“Kazuki, I wish to thank you for everything you’ve done but unfortunately, there is still a problem. I told you before, Though I hate this bastard with half my heart, the other part still see’s him as my treasure.”)
Oren waved his hand and two swords made from orichalcum came out of the floor and one each fell in front of Kazuki and Groud with a clank.
(“Kazuki, finish it. Destroy my treasure as you said you would.”)
Kazuki understood and picked up the sword. Oren had been betrayed by his son and even after everything Groud has done, Oren couldn’t take Groud’s life.
Groud on the other hand felt such humiliation and anger.
(“Even now you won’t fight me! Even now your still a coward father!”)
Groud grabbed the sword from the ground and ran at Kazuki with utter hatred.
(“Your body is still broken. Even without magic, I’ll crush you in a single swipe.”)
Kazuki watched him rush forward as if he were a fool.
Groud’s body blurred and he left after images in his wake. Kazuki as well stomped on the ground and disappeared from where he stood. As the two appeared before the other, they swung their blades with such speed that only three were able to perceive these movements.
Groud’s blade came slashing down toward Kazuki’s neck and Kazuki’s came just as fast. Just as Groud’s blade was about to touch Kazuki’s neck, Kazuki accelerated even faster and disappeared from Groud’s vision.
(“So fast, how!?”)
The two landed opposite from where they started and it was over.
Groud stood there and he felt something was wrong. He felt a strange heat from his neck and he could feel his vision fading. Kazuki’s voice came from behind him but for some reason, he couldn’t turn around to look at him. His body was no longer listening to his instructions.
“You were so caught up with your father you again underestimated me. Without magic, there’s no way for you to increase gravity on my body by several hundred times, and you cant use the wind to further hold me down. Without using gravity on your own body, you can not lighten it and without the aid of wind, you can’t accelerate as fast as before. Without magic, there’s absolutely no way you can keep up with me, and there’s absolutely no way for you to beat me. Goodbye Groud, thanks for the fight, it was interesting at least.”
At this moment Groud fell over and his head rolled across the ground for a few feet before coming to a stop. As the blood spurted out from his neck, Kazuki caught a whiff of it and he couldn’t help but feel an itch in the back of his mind as a small voice called out to him.
(de…vour.)
Kazuki shook his head and used his aura to suppress the eating power within and walked over to Oren.
“It’s done.”
Oren shook his head.
(“Even until the very end my son…Kazuki…Thank you.”)
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
A few days later, a strange calm blanketed the entire city. Those that were loyal to Groud were loyal for one reason and one reason only, he was powerful. With his power being false and Oren stepping in with true strength and honor, the city returned to normal eerily quickly. At least Kazuki felt it was quick. To the Adrola apes, this was just how thee culture was.
Inside the palace, Oren was sitting around in luxury while Kazuki was going over several old documents. He was allowed to go through maps and other such things necessary to leave this place. The thing though was which way to go. Kazuki had fallen into this shitty abyss only to later lose his way more and fall even deeper and get washed away for who knows how long. He needed proper information if he was to make it back intact.
