Kazuki gripped the underside of the hill sized orichalcum metal block. Using his strength, Kazuki casually tried to lift the block at first just to test its weight. As soon as he started though he could see right away that this thing was anything but light. Kazuki wasn’t trying to be cocky and overconfident when he lifted casually, rather he had proven time and time again how great his strength was. It was only natural for him to not take this large block all too seriously but with no movement from the block whatsoever, Kazuki realized he had underestimated this big ass block’s weight by a great margin.

Kazuki looked back at Oren who in return was smirking at him.

(“What’s the matter Kazuki, can’t lift it. Oh and before ya even think about it, don’t use that weird energy in ya body. I want to see only physical strength, nothing added, ya hear me?”)

Kazuki waved him off and went back to trying to lift the metal block in front of him. This time he took it as a real challenge and didn’t hesitate to ramp up his strength and use all of his strength all at once. Gritting his teeth tightly, Kazuki tried to lift the orichalcum.

Nothing happened.

The veins on Kazuki’s arms throbbed and his muscles bulged and he could feel the strain on every inch of his body but still, the block refused to budge.

Oren nodded seeing this.

(“I thought as much.”)

Oren’s eyes glowed and this time so too did his crown. With a wave of his hand, the top half of the block was cleaved apart. With another wave, the top half floated off the bottom half and sunk into the ground next to them, fusing with it.

(“I reduced the weight by half, try again.”)

Kazuki grunted at Oren. He could tell Oren knew it was far too much and was just having a laugh at his expense. Once again, Kazuki tried to lift the bottom half. Kazuki felt the difference right away and with all his might, he drove his feet downward and lifted the slab a few inches off the ground before he could lift it no more and its’ weight fell out of his hands.

*BOOM!*

Even though it was only a few inches from the ground, because of the slab’s excessive weight, it sounded like thunder as it slammed into the ground.

Beads of sweat started to pour from Kazuki’s forehead. He had really used all of his strength on that one lift.

“How’s that!?”

Oren nodded.

(“Not bad. You are currently stronger than me, at least when it comes to just the physical side. I probably can’t pick up that slab with just my body but when I do this…

Oren approached the slab and his aura came flooding out. At first, it sprang out chaotically like an enraged Kraken flailing about wildly but barely a second later Kazuki could sense Oren’s aura gather around his body naturally. It coated him in a layer of very dense aura.

(It’s like he’s wearing a suit of armor or something.)

Oren bent down and grabbed the slab before standing back up. With it the slab left the ground and Oren gradually lifted it overhead. Turning around to face Kazuki, the slab pushed the wind out of the way with a heavy whooshing noise.

(“With Strengthening Aura, what I can lift doubles. The strength of all of my physical attacks also double. Ya can only do this if ya master this technique. As ya are now, ya can only bring out 5 or 10% of your strength. With some work though, I’m sure ya can get to my level eventually, hehah”)

Oren tossed the slab down. Waving his hand he added a little more orichalcum to the slab increasing its weight by about 10 percent or so.

(“This time ya can use Strengthening Aura. Get to it.”)

Kazuki released his aura outward before gathering it around himself as Oren did. Creating a dense layer of aura around oneself was not easy. Kazuki pictured it like a suit of armor around oneself but the end result he had was a suit of aura armor with holes all over. Trying to control it all at once to cover him perfectly without leaving gaps was difficult to grasp.

In the end, he couldn’t cover himself entirely as he simply didn’t have enough aura. Only by growing his aura could he cover his whole body without leaving large holes all over the place.

Still, with a patchy suit of aura armor, Kazuki gripped the metal slab and tried to lift it.

Of course, the result was a failure.

No matter how he tried to lift it, with his aura spread so thin and patchy, it made his strength worse somehow.

(“What’s wrong with ya?”)

Kazuki took a step back.

“I can’t cover my entire body with aura. I don’t have enough aura.”

(“Hmm, that is a problem.”)

After a minute of silence, Kazuki barked up.

“Well, any advice?”

Oren shrugged his shoulders.

(“Just use what ya got, otherwise hurry up and grow ya aura and get stronger. What other advice do ya need?”)

Kazuki’s shoulders dropped and he stared at Oren with a look that said seriously.

(What kind of bum ass advice is that. Just get stronger hurr durr. Just get gud hurr durr. Not only that, to use what I got when it’s clearly not enough as it is…)

A thought struck Kazuki the moment he thought about Oren’s words.

(Use what I got…)

Kazuki stood in front of the slab once more piquing Oren’s interest.

(“Have ya thought of something Kazuki?”)

Kazuki didn’t bother answering and concentrated on his aura. Releasing it around himself, he pulled it in and created a layer around his body. Once again he was left with gaps ad holes all over. This time though instead of trying to fix the holes with aura he didn’t have, he made the holes even bigger. He took aura from around his body and added to only the important places. Took some from his chest and added it to his arms and shoulders. Took some from his feet and added it to his legs. Took the aura away from his neck and head and added it to his back.

(Some places of my body don’t need a layer of aura in order to lift this object. By taking aura away from the places that don’t need it and adding to the places that do, I can strengthen those important places and…

Kazuki flexed his muscles and grit his teeth, with it, he slowly but surely forced the slab up and off the ground. After a few seconds, he could feel his aura draining and he quickly set the slab back down and turned back with a proud smile.

“How’s that?”

Oren wasn’t even looking and was instead eating a large leg of meat.

(“Hmm, oh good job, now do it again.”)

“Again, why? Had you been paying attention you wouldn’t have missed it and I wouldn’t need to show you again. Are you actually taking this seriously you old ape?”

Oren shrugged his shoulders.

(“If ya don’t want to do it ya don’t have to. I just thought when it comes to aura I was the master of it and you the amateur but hey maybe being chained up in that prison for so long has rotted my brain. If I wasn’t taking things seriously why would I be out here with ya, when I can be relaxing in my palace all day with my harem.”)

“Good point fine but if you’re really trying to train me could you be a little more serious. For example by explaining things like why you want me to lift the slab I literally just lifted.”

(“Do ya ask everyone who teaches ya to break everything down. We apes do what we see and that’s how we learn. What’s so difficult about that?”)

(Did this ape just monkey do monkey see me?)

Oren could see that Kazuki wasn’t convinced and finally gave in.

(“Fine fine fine, I’ll break this one down for ya but don’t expect me to do this for everything. The reason I want ya to lift the slab again is so ya can master this technique sooner. How does one master something or at the very least improve. The answer of course is practice practice and even more practice. In order for ya to get better, ya need to not only lift this slab again but again and again and again. Ya need to lift is so many times that it becomes like second nature for ya. Not only that, the time it takes for ya to use your Strengthening Aura takes too long. What opponent is gonna give ya that time. Ya need to continuously activate it until again its second nature. Once ya get to that point I’ll increase the weight and you’ll keep going like that. We’ll do this until either ya master it or you wimp out and leave my city. Is that enough explaining to ya or ya want me to wipe ya ass as well?”)

Kazuki said nothing in response and instead turned back around and released his aura.
