*average reading speed was taken as 200 words per minute. What? You think you read faster? Then take an online reading test and calculate a new value for yourself. Btw, my reading time comes out to be 22 hours 57 minutes.
You guys seeing that shit? Volume 5 was almost twice as long as volume 4. Goddamnit.
Anyway, hey y’all, Anit666 here, bringing you the end of the 5th volume of Ruler, The Dawn.
As always, I gave my all for it, and this time, the result was much better than I expected. Compared to the 1st volume which reads like shit now, I’ve come a long way, and this is the result. It’s enough to bring tears to a man’s eyes. Hopefully, you feel the same? In case you don’t, then please let me know, cuz I love feedback from the readers because it helps me improve.
Now, Imma keep it real with you chiefs, volume 5 was never planned to be this big. I was expecting something like, 40 chapters? Yeah, that sounds about right. But then I decided to add some things to increase the quality of the work and everything went to shit. This continued happening till the very last chapter. Jack’s appearance at the Council was supposed to be 2 chapters long. Then I started writing and was like ‘Wait, when the fuck did I write 2k words? Why is this section so long?’ and then it became 5 chapters so long.
Interesting, ain’t it? The saying goes ‘Quality over quantity’, but upping the quality came with a significant increase in quantity. Anyway.
This volume was mainly used to flesh out a lot of the new characters, including Sam, and especially Sherry. Keep it between us, but originally, Serasta was supposed to be a mindless monster king like existence which would have been killed by Sam using Tzeeneth. From that, I gradually shifted to a more human like existence that was wronged in the past and would finally find peace in her death by the hands of Sam.
And then I thought; why kill her? A character who had been wronged in the past; why give her peace in her death? So I decided to keep her alive. From there she turned into the Witch of the Ruin, Serasta La Graes, who lost someone dear to her. Of course, to keep her alive, I had to give her a proper role in the story; and I dare say that I’m glad I didn’t kill her. Just wait for the next volume, Beyond the End of Despair. Volume 6 is going to be even crazier than this one, so look forward to it.
Now, I’d usually talk about my favourite moments, but there are too many- half of which are Phiria fawning over Sam- so I’ll spare you this time.
Anyway-
Hmm? You’re asking why I included the stats? Simple- because I was interested in how much I had written. After calculating it and being astonished, I decided that I might as well share it with you.
Anyway, let’s wrap this up here.
As always, I’m incredibly grateful to you, the reader reading these words from the screen of your phone, laptop, pc, Samsung Smart Fridge et cetera. Thanks a lot for reading my work. I’ll continue working hard so that Ruler changes your standard for isekai novels.
A special thanks to my patrons and those donated for bonus chapters. It means a lot to me.
And thank you, Weasalopes. You are the reason I can deliver Ruler in its full glory.
Well then, until we see each other again.
