CHAPTER 146: INCREASING THE RANK

I am stupid and reckless! I can’t believe that I just gambled away all the points I had. I thought I could get more of those goodies since I was on a roll. It was truly naïve and irresponsible of me. Now I am left with only 400 points.

I had twenty monsters that I could use: seven goblinkind, five breasts, two undead, three orcs and three ogres. The three headed puppy I got was unusable for now, it was only a puppy. Luckily I will be able to use it once it grows older and stronger. I also got several traps none of which I could use at the moment. The rest were random items that I got, mostly junk but I did get two rare ranked swords. The only other thing I didn’t know how to use were two eggs. Apparently they would hatch into elite monsters with special properties, but some of them might turn out to be passive or friendly mobs that will not be able to fight.

I decided to place all monsters on the first floor for now. And from the leftover points I bought treasure chests and placed them near my traps to lure the adventurers. Let’s hope they fall for the trick. Now the only problem left is to have someone strong defend the core while I am away.

“My bride, why are you looking at me like that, it’s giving me the creeps.”

“You stole away my single life, don’t you think you should repay me somehow?”

If Fulgur would act like a dungeon protector I could be at ease. He is plenty strong and would probably be able to hold out against the Earl if he decides to come here.

“I didn’t steal anything. I simply took what is mine. If you want something from me you should be ready to give something in return.”

Tsk!

“Can you watch the dungeon for a few days? Just until I come back from my trip, it is only for about three to four days.”

“I can do that, but I want to sleep in bed together with you. I hear that is only natural for a married couple. You should know that I make for a great sleeping partner.”

“Absolutely not! Ew, heck no! I am not so easy to sleep with you. I told you before, but I plan on keeping my purity. Forget it, you’re not getting any!”

This perverted dragon, does he not know about a maiden’s heart. I won’t be giving this body to him or anyone else for the matter of fact. He can crawl on all fours and beg for days and I still wouldn’t be moved. Even if it means risking my position of a Dungeon Master.

“Get what? We will only be sleeping in the same bed. I don’t like sleeping on the floor, it is too uncomfortable. How could I bear to hurt my dearest?”

Ooh… he meant that kind of sleeping together. I thought about it; if taken everything into consideration it is not such a bad deal. It’s not like something will happen if we only share a bed. I believe in my willpower. With him guarding the dungeon I can be at ease.

“Okay, we have a deal. Watch over the dungeon. I will bring Byakko and Yoru to help out and bring in more monsters for the puppy to eat and train with. Also to fill up the first floor.”

“Mistress only dungeon master can stay in the dungeon. But if you spend some DP, half the value of the monster, you can turn it into dungeon monster.”

That is good to know. I wish I knew that before. I wouldn’t have killed all the monsters present inside the caverns. And I could have saved myself the trouble. I guess Fulgur can be inside for free because we’re married. Does that mean Byakko and Yoru can come in as they please since they are my monsters? I assume that is true since they are part of my fighting strength.

“Hey, how can I get more DP? Gaining only 20DP/day seems oddly ineffective to me. There has to be a better way.”

“Improving the rank, killing intruders, directly sacrificing mana, using mana inside the dungeon perimeter, recovering mana and special way available to me is to drain the magic of the person. To do that I would need to engage with them directly, that is my specialty as an avatar. If you choose this matter I would prefer to deal with men. Women are good as well, but men tend to be more enthusiastic you see.”

I shivered; she wasn’t a Succubus Princess for naught. But I guess it is a good thing for me, since all I had to do is make people use their mana, not a very hard thing to do.

“What’s the conversion rate? How much mana will give how many points?”

“When sacrificing mana directly, 50MP for 1DP, when using mana or recovering it is 100:1. The last two options can only be done by those who are not part of the dungeon. This means, you cannot use this method.”

That is not that good of a conversion rate. Well whenever I don’t have anything to do, I should pour mana directly and since my recovery rate is high enough I would be able to do this several times a day. I should be able to add 300 points a day easily.

I was still thinking how to use other ways to improve my situation with dungeon points when a certain idea popped into my head. Sadly I don’t think I will have enough mana to do it myself, luckily I have someone that is able to combine his mana with mine.

“Fulgur, actually I’m calling you Fulgy since it is easier to pronounce, can you combine your mana with mine every single time, or was earlier merely a one time thing?”

“Of course I can, you can do the same with mine, think of it as spouse privilege. But be careful if you want to do that since you need to match the mana being used. I won’t have any problems, but you should know the limits of your power.”

I might be able to do this then. What I was about to do is quite simple. I was planning on casting a curse magic on the entirety of the dungeon and making it one giant trap that will constantly drain your mana. This should be no different from casting a curse magic onto an item, just on a slightly bigger scale.

“Back me up, we’re going big this time. If this really works out I will be buying lunch for everyone.”

I didn’t hesitate to use up almost all of my mana which in turn made me feel weak and dizzy, but to make this long term investment it was worth it. I figured out one major loophole in the way magic and some skills work, if you think of something as a single object it can be so much easier and less expensive to cast magic then if you thought about it as a space or multiple objects. The design is faulty, but since there are no hotfixes I will gladly use this cheat to my advantage. I felt the mana spread out throughout the entire dungeon and I knew I was successful in my attempt.

Hearing the confirmation I smiled and decided to buy the monsters the normal way this time around. When I leave, I can do so with peace of mind. I left around a thousand DP for Princess to use for maintenance. At the end of the day I laid down on the portable sofa this time with Fulgur as I promised him.
