CHAPTER 156: TWO MONTHS LATER pt2

It has been mostly uneventful two months. My students have officially finished their training period working as a 24-men unit and became full time members of Dragon’s Descent. The inn was flourishing wonderfully and I didn’t add many contributions to my name and my life was peaceful.

Oh how I wish I could say those words. The students were working as a single unit, but they were still in training. However, it felt to me like I would be able to send them out into the world at any moment, but it was them that didn’t want to finish the training and were making their own curriculum and saying they wanted to perfect everything before graduating.

On the other hand, I had to visit Kapitalia two more times which meant that I had to accept two more A-rank requests that have popped up, and since I cannot allow myself to fail a request to retain the perfect completion rate I added more contribution towards my promotion. And the reason I had to go was because of the war with Blood Knight and negotiating the sale of wyverns with Vitou-sama.

A funny thing about Blood Knight group is the fact they turned out to be our neighbors in the capital. The plot was only gained recently, and now it belonged to us. The first time they fought us they arrived without their core members and strength which meant that they were utterly crushed by us and we gained a place to keep the wyverns in Kapitalia.

The second battle is the one I participated in. The leader of their group is an S-rank adventurer and I didn’t feel at ease staying in Orzak. In that battle they went all or nothing and sadly they lost. One thing I should mention about that battle is the way it ended since it was something I didn’t expect and came up with it on the spot.

When the outcome of the battle became clear with the leader of the group being beaten majority of Blood Knight members fled the scene with only two dozen of them remaining and fighting with all their might to save their leader and high ranked prisoners we captured. They were even willing to beg to let their leader go and keep them as prisoners. I found their persistence really admirable so instead of merely taking their territory I proposed a merge with the members that were willing to fight until the very end. The forty members present would join Dragon’s Descent and form a special unit so that they will still stay together and in return they will get three wyverns for them to raise and use.

They accepted the offer after some discussion and upon stripping them of their emblems and granting them my own, all forty of them bowed to me and greeted me with very familiar ‘Honorable Boss’ greeting. I seriously had no idea what Thanatos-sama did to the original group when he made them my followers to even be able to affect new members. Their leader Boscou was then made Dogusu’s right hand man.

As for the wyvern acquisition, it came as a shock to me. A dedicated team of twelve was made to search for and capture wyvern babies and they were surprisingly good at it. Not only did they study about the lives and habits of these creatures, but they also had many contacts among adventurers all across the kingdom that gladly told them about any and all wyvern sightings.

One day I received a letter saying that Vitou-sama arrived personally and asked to buy some wyverns. They didn’t want to deal with him alone and begged me to arrive so I can close the deal personally. I didn’t think that Vitou was also interested in wyverns and had his people also look for babies just like we did but with much less success.

I arrived in Kapitalia and upon meeting Vitou-sama I immediately gave him and offer of three thousand gold coins per wyvern. I knew it was an outrageous price, but as I was still pissed at him, I didn’t want to give him any discount. I will try and milk out as much money as I can from him.

In the end the price was settled at two thousand for a total of eight thousand, with that a large budget was created for the guild I took a thousand and left the rest with Dogusu. I wanted to buy equipment for the raid team and pay another installment for the mountain that I owned.

The inn was flourishing wonderfully. With the dungeon being so near many adventurers that travelled here decided to lodge at the inn. And since both Succubus Princess and Fulgur were always around me I had them work as staff. Princess was a maid in charge of cleaning and Fulgy surprisingly had a cooking skill so I put him in the kitchen. Their salaries were quite special according to their own demands.

The Princess demanded that I sacrifice mana to her, specifically the mana of vigorous men that came to my inn. I agreed under the condition that he is willing and that she doesn’t kill him. I didn’t bother asking just how she is planning to get that mana from them.

Fulgy demanded that we share the same room and bed whenever we were together. At first I was afraid he might try something, but after a month of nothing happening I felt like I could relax around him. However, sharing the same bed with him and also being called his bride did start some rumors, but nothing really out of hand.

The most troublesome thing that had happened in these past two months was the arrival of heroes. They had to take down a dungeon master, so they decided to enlist my help and in the process they were able to realize the truth because the moment they saw me they got the notice the fight with a dungeon master would begin and I got a notice saying to defend the title of a dungeon master.

While they were still stunned with the sudden realization of what was happening I made my move with haste and rendered them incapable of fighting. I don’t think I ever moved as fast as I did that day. Then using Dark Magic I made them all unconscious and to make sure no one else finds out about me being a dungeon master I decided to place a curse on them with the help of Fulgy’s mana.

First I cast a spell to prevent them from speaking my name or being able to write it down while talking about me and dungeon master, then a curse that will prevent them from remembering my name when thinking about the dungeon master and lastly another curse to act as a protection for those curses and a protection for protection. I also made it so that every time one protection is broken the next one becomes stronger, it is like the protection that is broken becomes part of the strengths for the next one. I am quite proud with how I pulled that magic off.

Also to make sure none of the heroes do something silly as soon as they wake up I asked Princess to dry them of their mana in a polite way.

As for the dungeon it was developing steadily. The rank rose to B and I had full five floors now. And monsters were filling up first to third floor. I rearranged them so that each floor had its own type of monsters and decided to move Sanshi to the fifth floor. He grew up big and strong and I couldn’t bear to place him on the first floor where he was in greatest danger.

The two eggs that I got from the Random Reward function have not hatched and do not show any signs of being anywhere close to hatching, but the other rewards that I pulled from that function were really paying off. I got a baby Nine-tailed Spirit Fox monster and another five baby monsters that I would need to raise three of them were hellhounds and two were direwolf puppies. I noticed that aside from monsters I could buy regularly those that I pull out with Random Reward do have something demonic about them. I guess the type of dungeon affects what I can get.

I did ask Princess why I kept on getting baby monsters so often, but she didn’t know. Apparently there is very small chance of getting a baby form of a monster, especially elite monster like Sanshi. Well I didn’t let it bother me too much, I guess it was only my luck to not be able to get grown monsters.

As for my level it was raising slowly but surely with all the monsters coming to find me all the time. Some of them I had Byakko, Yoru or even Fulgy deal with, others I dealt with personally and some I left for my students to use as target practice. Whenever I dealt with monsters I made sure that nobody is able to see me and report me. Even all the corpses were kept nicely in my inventory so that nobody knows just what kind of monsters have appeared in this area.

***NINO’S POV***

“Uncle, you are finally back, thank heavens.”

“Nino, I’m back, don’t worry, our jobs are about to become that much easier. It was agreed upon that every major branch of guild will be equipped with a communication crystal so that requests, especially high ranked ones can flow more smoothly. This will be a huge investment, but it will pay off. Now tell me what about Naoko-chan?”

“It’s too cruel, she opened an inn next to the dungeon and doesn’t want to clear it at all.”

“Oh, she must have earned a lot. But fear not, I have brought the Stick of Truth. I will definitely turn her into an A-rank adventurer and secure someone to take on harder requests for my branch. She will be the ultimate weapon of our branch. Go on and call her to the guild. Tell her I am looking for her.”
