CHAPTER 26 – SUMMON
I flipped through the book I was reading with a smile on my face. It seems that Bitch-chan was on probation and cannot make a mistake for now. This is perfect, now I can hang out at the guild in peace, but there was something I needed to do before.
I went into a forest and prepared anything that I might need from weapons and trinkets to food and flowers. I was about to try out the summoning magic that I learned some basics to.
When making a contract with summoned creatures sometimes giving gifts will make them more inclined to accept the contract. Since I didn’t know how this will turn out I allocated all my skill points for a “slight” power up.

After my night of heavy drinking when I met the heroes some things changed. First the
elemental affection grew a lot. Second I gained poison resistance, this was almost a slap in the face to me, but maybe now I will be able to endure better and maybe remember just what exactly I do when I get drunk. And the last thing was a change in dark magic. I learned Disrupt somehow, but I had no idea how to use it whatsoever.
“Didn’t anyone tell you it is not safe to look at your status without checking for intruders, Naoko-chan?”
I jumped at the sudden appearance of a person behind me. Taking Amethyst from the inventory I immediately went into battle mode.
“Easy there Naoko-chan. I will not harm you, I was just curious about you. I heard a bit
about you and became curious.”
“Who are you? Why do you know my name?”
This person was completely clad in black clothes. His hair was black much like his eyes. If I didn’t know better I would have sworn he was Japanese just like me. Moreover he was gorgeous. I could not look away from him. He was the most handsome person I have met after Thanatos-sama.
“I read your name from your status. Those are some monstrous numbers for a mere level 25 human. You must have some great combination of titles and skills to gain so much. And from whom I heard about you that I cannot disclose, privacy is very dear to me.”
I tried to scope the power this person had and concluded that he was either so weak that he would not cause any alarm from my defensive instinct or so powerful that I can’t realize his power at all. In either case I had no reason to fight him and put away my sword.
“Then you shouldn’t have invaded my privacy. So, now that you saw me what do you plan on doing… umm, can I get your name.”
“No can do, well I only wanted to see what made him speak so much about you since he never bothered to pay attention to anything, but seeing you are doing something interesting I might as well stay around.”
He simply sat down on a patch of grass and just stared at me. I was at a loss, this
person was incomprehensible. He just stared at me, and after I didn’t do anything for a while he urged me to continue as if he wasn’t here. With my mind still in confusion I drew the summoning circle, placed my hand on it and poured in my mana.
It was working, the circle was glowing and reacting to my mana, but with that, I felt like I could no longer control my own magic and was scared that it will suck up all my mana at this rate. Inside the circle something was starting to change. Black and gray streaks of mana were being formed and condensed then stretched and shrunk. Slowly but surely a form was being created inside. I hoped that whatever comes is not a spider.
When the last drop of mana I used was spent, the circle collapsed and in its place a
purple, almost black butterfly no bigger than my fist was fluttering around. This… is my summon? Was it a failure or success?

After fluttering around a bit the black butterfly landed on my hand. I couldn’t recognize it at all. I read about insect-type monsters, but I don’t remember this one. None of the butterfly type monsters were this pretty.
“Please, please tell me your name. You smell a bit like master but somehow nicer.”
The voice surprised me, it sounded like a young girl with high pitched voice full of
innocence. Could this come from the butterfly? Since there was nobody other than that person around I concluded that must be the case.
“I am Maeda Naoko, and you?”
I was looking to see if the owner of that voice was indeed the butterfly.
“Daphira, you can call me that and we will get along well for as long as you don’t call me Fifi. Naoko please make a contract with me and help me out.”
So it was the butterfly, and I realized that it was talking using telepathy. How convenient. I wonder what kind of magic and attack it will use.
“I would be happy to form a contract but I do not know if I will be able to help you as I am now. I am still rather weak, but if it is within my power I will lend a hand without hesitation.”
“Trust me, you are more than good enough. I just want to get away from him, recently he became clingy. I need some space.”
The butterfly bit my finger and took some blood. Just who is her master? Being too clingy is definitely not a good thing.

Eh? EEEH? Divine Monster? Isn’t that too OP? I think I made someone really mad for doing this.
“Speaking of which, you said I smelled like your master. Just what is his name?”
“It’s Thanatos-sama, God of Death, Son of Nyx-sama, I am sure you are familiar with
him.”
I couldn’t believe this. She tried to get away but she might have made a mistake. I should probably tell her that.
“Daphira, you should know about this. Thanatos-sama is someone that sent me here. I don’t think you can escape him that easily just by hanging around me.
“I know that Nao-chan, that is why I chose to come here when I saw you were summoning something. You see all he does is talk about Nao-chan this, Nao-chan that. I am sick and tired of him whining all the time.”
I couldn’t believe her words. The almighty god was acting like a doting parent and
annoying everyone around him. Since I was finished with my summoning magic I turned around to look at that man clad in black clothes but he was no longer around. Instead, there was a note stuck on the trunk of the tree.
‘I came to see with my own eyes what it was that made you so interesting that my father would mention you several times. Meeting you, I realized why. I can assure you that our destinies are tied together. I will meet you again for sure in the near future.’
I was dumbstruck with this sudden visit, but thinking about the future where I will meet him again I couldn’t help but anticipate. With the Hell Butterfly attached to me like some hair ornament I gathered up my things and went back home.
