VITOU’S POV

I really have no idea how the heck Nao-chan can attract so much trouble. She was even able to attract the Black King, who in the past dozen years or so never showed his face. What’s even more shocking is that it turns out those two are related. If you had given me any hints about it, I wouldn’t be able to come to this conclusion.

“Your Highness, you are in a daze again. Are you sure you want to continue? You have been holding the same piece of paper for the past thirty minutes.”

“I’m fine Tanaka. I just have a ton of things going on.”

I began clearing the documents once again. The sooner I get this over with, the sooner I can leave. Then I can go find Nao-chan and ask her about the Undying Necromancer. Earlier, I had to bite my tongue and act like it is no big deal, however I really want to know more about it all.

Since I was planning on travelling with Nao-chan to Sunset Islands, I had to deal with some things in advance. But now, with all the fuss around her, I don’t think I would be able to do even half of the work I planned on doing.

I was still in my office when the sun had set, then all of a sudden the door was slammed open. I wanted to yell at the intruders, but seeing it was Nakamura and Ishikawa, I held back the impulse. They wouldn’t do this unless things weren’t urgent.

“Boss, big news!”

“Keep it down! What’s the rush? Don’t you have any manners? Can’t you behave properly?”

I wasn’t planning on yelling at them, but Ishikawa’s call of ‘boss’ really made me snap. I don’t know how many times I told him not to call me like that, but he keeps on doing it regardless.

“It’s Naoko, something must have happened to her. We went to her mansion but she wasn’t there. Also none of her people know where she went. She also didn’t take any of the requests at the guild nor did she enter the castle.”

“It’s not the first time that she ran off somewhere without saying anything to anyone. She’ll be back.”

I really hope that she would stop running around, but lately she has gotten better at hiding from me. I sometimes have a feeling that she knows the exact position of my secret guards. Not to mention that she also has space magic that helps her get away.

“No, this is different. Something definitely happened to her. Boss, you have to send someone to find her.”

I gave him a weird look and turned to Nakamura. He is the more sensible one between the two. He should be able to give me a more reasonable explanation as to why they ran all the way here.

“Your Highness, he’s not saying nonsense.”

“Okay, she’s missing, I get that. But why are you so sure that something happened to her?”

“Some time ago, Naoko-san placed a spell on all the heroes. She prevented us from speaking about what she was doing in Orzak. Earlier today, that prohibition completely disappeared.”

“WHAT?!”

This is a huge deal. If I am correct, Nao-chan wouldn’t willingly remove the spell on anyone, so it is no wonder the two are so worried.

“Wait really? When did Maeda-san put a restriction on us? I don’t remember it at all.”

This time I turned to stare at Tanaka who seemed really surprised to hear about it. I glanced at Ishikawa and Nakamura who were just as surprised. I gave it a little thought and soon came to a conclusion.

“Tanaka, I think it is because the two of them completed their training at an earlier time and the restriction wasn’t as solid when Nao-chan placed it. But considering that you are unaware means that she is still fine and that nothing really bad happened to her.”

I heaved a sigh of relief. As long as she is alive, nothing major will happen. I know just how tenacious she is. She can always heal herself with light magic, even if she gets wounded.

“Speaking of which, why did she put the restriction on you?”

The two suddenly blanked for a second before collecting themselves and speaking.

“Your Highness, she forbids us from telling others that she is a Du…”

*BOOOOM*

A loud sound similar to a thunder hit the room out of nowhere and completely startled everyone in the room. Instinctively, I shielded myself with wind magic which made a huge mess in the room as it blew away all the papers neatly stacked on the desk and in the vicinity.

I prepared myself for the attack, but nothing like that happened. Instead, what I was greeted with was the muffled sound of retching behind me accompanied with a loud buzzing sound in my ears. Soon the guards that were outside, rushed into the room. I could see them standing at the door saying something, but I couldn’t hear clearly.

“Your Highness, are you fine? Where are the intruders?”

I was barely able to understand what they were saying and in reply, I raised my hand and signaled them everything was good and that they could retreat. When they left, I turned around and saw a petite figure on all fours and her face was completely green. I sighed and approached to stand next to her and hold up her hair.

“Nao-chan, what was that? Are you okay? Were you hurt? Who did this to you?”

I don’t know why she turned out like this. I suddenly had a bad hunch. Could she have clashed with the Black Hand again? Did they want to eliminate her and send their elite? Could it be that she confronted her brothers? My heart felt painful as I saw her weak like this. Right now I really wanted to do everything to protect her from anyone that dares to harm her. It took her several minutes to calm down and to be able to stand up again.

“There is no way in hell I am using this magic again in this lifetime! Thanks Vitou. Sorry for scaring you like this. I really didn’t think it would turn out this way.”
