CHAPTER 50 – ROYAL CAPITAL GUILD BRANCH

This city is way too large. I have been wandering the past three day and I felt like I only saw a tiny bit of it. Not only was it the political and governmental center, but it is a cultural centre as well Museums, pavilions, halls, parks and courtyards; there was simply too many things to look for.

I also wanted to explore the castle, but unfortunately I was restricted to the east wing and the courtyard. I didn’t really want to hide and use stealth since I was invited as a guest, and breaking that trust wasn’t worth it, besides there was enough to see in the city.

As I was wandering aimlessly looking for interesting places I came across the guild building. Actually to call it a building would be wrong, it was more of a campus with several facilities and huge ground area which had different terrains. And that was only what I could see from the gate.

I had no idea how could I have not come across this before. The entire structure was
humongous. Well, I might as well get rid of the monster corpses that I have in my inventory. Looking for the main building I noticed that a lot of people were practicing. They didn’t look that much older than me and they were sparring among themselves with wooden swords. Looking at them I couldn’t help but smile, they all looked so eager and happy.

“Hey kid, don’t just stand around, why aren’t you sparring with others?”

I turned on reflex. A man and a woman were standing some distance away. The man pointing his finger at me looked rather angry. Hey don’t you know it is rude to point at others like that. I went over to explain that I am not here to train.

“Excuse me, I am not here to spar. I’m a C-rank adventurer from Orzak and I am looking for the main building. I have some materials to sell.”

“Don’t mess with me, only brats over 13 can climb the ranks. If you are a C-rank than I am the king of this country, now go and train before I suspend you from class.”

Oh, a school… but shouldn’t you know who your students are? Not a good teacher if you ask me. Also why does this keep on happening? I swear, people should learn some respect, even towards younger people.

“I am not in this class. In the first place, I am 17 years old, here’s my guild card.”

“If you are C-rank, you should be able to go against me who is also a C-rank in a fight. Something I don’t think is possible for you. You should learn manners and treat elders
respectfully.”

A fight? He wants a fight? Also why aren’t you looking at my guild card? That way I wouldn’t need to bother with you, and you woman why don’t you say anything. I looked at her pleadingly, hoping she would stop him, but she pretended not to even see me.

“I do not wish to fight you or anyone else. I honestly just want to get rid of materials I have on me. And since you won’t accept reason, I have no further plans to argue with you.”

“Gather round everyone, your special instructor will now show you how to really fight. This kid doesn’t want to participate in class, so I will show you why practice is important.”

Hey I just told you I don’t want to fight, so why are you pressuring me? The kids quickly stopped sparring and gathered around us. I could hear their expectant whispers. I heaved a sigh, they seemed to be really looking forward to this.

“I said I have work to do, why do you keep on pressuring me. Kiddoes I don’t want to fight your instructor. I’m only passing by.”

“Scared aren’t you? Since you are claiming to be a C-rank using wooden swords would be pointless, we’ll be using a real one. Everyone take a seat and pay good attention.”

This man wasn’t listening to word I was saying. Very well, fighting will be faster, also I’ll make sure he forever regrets underestimating me and calling me a kid.

“No, I am not scared, but I want to make this interesting. A wager, what do you say about 30 gold. Since you are C-rank I’m sure you can afford such a small amount. And since you are so sure of your strength, this will be easy money for you.”

“Deal, 30 gold it is. Ronnie, come here and write it down. I don’t want this brat going back on her word.”

A kid from the class ran and brought paper and wrote down the contents of the bet. Hmm I ought to add something.

“Please add that your instructor refused to take my guild card proving my id and rank even after telling him that data.”

The kid added it and we both signed it. Now I am safe. He gave me a sword, but I declined it saying I will be using my own. L We separated and stood 20 meters apart. The woman took the role of a judge and declared start.

I kicked the ground using my full speed and power reaching the instructor in a blink knocking his sword from his hand and pointing the blade directly at his throat. I didn’t forget to target him with my killing intent at full force. He fell down on his bottom and began to tremble.

“It’s my win. Please hand over the waged money… Kids, you should learn from his failure and remember to never underestimate your opponent. If I had been serious, or this had been a real battle, he would have died without even knowing what hit him. After all, a magician fights with magic and not swords.”

Since the man was unable to stand, I took the contract and told him I’d collect my prize later on, before leaving the class that was still in silence. This will be a good lesson to all the kids there and hopefully to that idiotic instructor of theirs.

Finally, after some time, I reached what looked like main building and luckily it was what I needed. Inside it was utter chaos, everyone was yelling at cursing at the staff. People were shoving each other and cutting lines. Unlike the guild in Orzak, this one was the depiction of calamity. Seriously, how is anyone supposed to get things done in here?

The guild room was much bigger than the Orzak one, even with a single glance I could
count over ten individuals that had bloodied faces with fresh blood. This is not normal no matter how you look at it. These people were more like animals than humans.
