CHAPTER 57 – CELEBRATION PARTY

Thus, feeling completely helpless, I accepted the decree and became a Viscountess. In the future, I must make sure not to do anything that will make me rise in rank, this was already something I didn’t hope for. I don’t want to deal with anything even slightly bit troublesome.

“With that, everything is concluded. Dismissed.”

The King, followed by his guards and heroes left first. Suddenly I was swarmed with countless people congratulating me on my new title. Everyone was insisting I visit them and join them for either tea or dinner. This is exactly why I didn’t want to be part of nobility. Already it is so much trouble. And that is with me frightening them earlier. From the corner of the eye I saw Earl Orzak mocking me. Just you wait, I will have my revenge against you.

With a lot of effort, I was able to escape the crowd and leave. In the hallways Hii-chan, Inoue-san, Nakamura-kun, Colt-san and another person were waiting. As soon as I emerged, they grabbed me and dragged me away. Honestly speaking, I was glad they did so, at least I wouldn’t have to deal with more unknown people.

“Nao-chan, congratulations on gaining your nobility rank. What do you say we go out and celebrate tonight. After this week, I really need to go and relax a bit.”

“Maeda-san congratulations!”

“Congratulations!”

“Hii-chan how could you sell me out to the King? Do you have any idea how hard it was for me to conceal from everyone that I came from Earth just like…”

I stopped mid sentence, I totally forgot that Colt-san was standing behind me. I turned around and all I could see was surprise mixed with ‘I didn’t hear anything’ face.

“I had no choice, he asked how did the three of us meet you. I tried to evade by letting the other two speak but he pressured me. You can’t blame me Nao-chan.”

Well I didn’t hold it against him. That sword makes things difficult for everyone. Luckily, the King didn’t make too much of a fuss later on and most importantly he didn’t announce it publicly.

“Well, I don’t blame you, also Colt-san, everyone thank you for supporting me back in that trial. It is very much appreciated. Let’s go out to the guild tonight. Colt-san bring Nord-san and Blink-san as well. The drinks are on me tonight.”

I had enough gold to support everyone’s drinking. Colt-san left happily after agreeing to bring everyone. The last person that waited for me finally introduced himself.

“I am Ishikawa Taichi, hero of Sona. I have heard quite a bit about you and really wanted to meet you.”

“I’m Maeda Naoko, pleased to meet you Ishikawa-kun. It is always a pleasure to meet fellow countrymen here, I hope we can get along well in the future. And please forget everything you heard about me, I don’t want groundless rumors spreading any further.”

He seemed to be looking for something as he observed me. Honestly, his piercing gaze felt a bit uncomfortable. Just what is he planning on doing?

“You see, I was quite curious about you and have asked Nakanishi-kun have you played games back on earth and he told me you used to play those otome games, but I wonder if you tried out VRMMO ones as well?”

An odd question… also playing games was reserved when I wasn’t at school since both
RPG and FPS games require too much attention. Otome games are perfect when you don’t need to think too much.

“I did try a few. I did have the equipment at home. I was lucky to win a contest to get it.”

“Is that so… I must have misheard the rumors here, there is no way such a godlike player would be a casual player. It was a pleasure to meet you either way Maeda-san”

“Wait, you should bring your party to drink tonight as well. The more people there are the better the atmosphere. Come on it will be fun.”

“In that case I will see you later tonight.”

I was about to bid goodbye to all of them when Inoue-san grabbed me and dragged me to her room. I didn’t know what she was thinking, but as soon as she sat me down in front of a giant mirror I understood.

“Inoue-san there is no need for this. I am perfectly happy with my look right now. There is absolutely no need for any makeover to do.”

“You are the star of the party tonight, that means you will need to stand out. Also it’s time to stop hiding half your face, people cannot see how cute you are. Instead it makes you seem gloomy, and we definitely do not want that tonight.”

“No… I…”

There was no stopping her as she pulled back my hair and uncovered the scar I kept hidden. Although she was stunned at first, she immediately concealed it and began working on my makeup. I had no idea where on earth did she get all these famous brands here in Doren, but I didn’t care, I just wanted to get out as soon as possible. After finishing up my makeup she proceeded by pulling up my hair and braiding it and making a bun that looked both youthful and elegant. I was surprised with how talented she is, but this is all too much for a casual night out at the guild bar.

But the most over the top thing was when she pulled out a crimson red dress from her wardrobe and ordered her maids to dress me up while she got ready herself. I let out a sigh as I let the maids drag me around and dress me up. Afterwards I waited a few more minutes it took Inoue-san to get ready.

On the way to the guild there were countless gazes focused on us. It made me feel completely exposed and uncomfortable I really wanted to shrink and become invisible. Hii-chan, Inoue-san and the rest of the heroes that were coming along all walked with their heads held up high, without being bothered one bit. I wonder if this is something they all had in them before they arrived here, or is this something they got used to after becoming heroes.

At the guild, Nord-san and his party were already there waiting for us. It was time to start the celebration. There were a lot of congratulations, even from people I didn’t know, but overall we were all having a great time talking, drinking, laughing and drinking. You know how I said I wasn’t going to drink anything tonight? Well Scratch that, last thing I recall was Nord-san calling out to me

“Naoko Queen I want a rematch!”
