CHAPTER SEVEN – ADVENTURER’S GUILD

“How rare it is to see such a young girl to join us. Would you like me to explain you about the guild and how everything works?”

“Please do.”

“Certainly, the guild is an independent organization operating within both kingdoms and since we are based in both kingdoms all adventurers rank B and higher have the right to pass the border without any additional introduction letters. Since we are independent we are not obliged to take request orders from the king, but under the threat of national security we must give aid to the army.”

“Once you register in one city, your guild card will be valid in all other branches as well and you can accept requests without any problems. Requests rank from F to SS and ranks go from G-S. You can accept requests that are one above your rank and lower. Only higher ranked requests can be counted when going for a promotion rank. If you are under 13 years of age you will start at G rank otherwise F rank.”

“All the requests currently needed to be done will be posted on those boards you see behind you. If you want to choose a good one you will need to arrive early enough before someone else takes it. There are also special requests that are always active. You can complete those at any time you want.”

“When it comes to selling materials you can do it through the guild, or if you prefer so, sell them yourself. About materials until you sell them, all materials aside from the wanted item belongs to you and we have no right to claim it from you.”

“Now one last thing I must inform you is that you will not be able to join the guild if you are younger than 11 years and if you total stat points doesn’t add up to at least a hundred. This is to prevent some accidents and deaths that might come across the youngest. Do you want to proceed?”

Eh? There was a thing like that. No wonder those three didn’t want to say anything.
According to their information I had way below hundred points. If they told me about it they would be able to save themselves and myself from worrying.

“Yeah… I mean yes I do. Do I have to fill out a form or something?”

“No such thing. Please follow me, since I have to confirm your status we must move to a private room where no information leaks would happen. The guild is sworn to keep your data safe and will not leak it to a third party.”

I followed Nino-san to a room just behind the counters. Inside there was a crystal the
size of a basketball on a table. He stood in front of it and asked me to open my status which I did so obediently.

Ever since encountering those bandits on the road, and gaining some levels, my status have really gone up. Not only did my base stats increase greatly, I was also given additional level up points which I could allocate freely. I didn’t know if this was something normal so I asked Colt-san about it and learned that the only way to increase your power is through those level up points. If not you would have to train for hours and hours just to get a single digit increase in strength. Thanatos-sama made me more monstrous that I thought he did.

“Oh my, Maeda-san you are already 17?”

That hit a nerve… seriously there are more things to be surprised with than my age. Taking notice of my glare he quickly murmured an apology and picked up the crystal ball handing it to me. Taking it and while holding it Nino-san placed a stone tablet against it. Glowing for a bit something was being carved onto the tablet. Placing the crystal back on the table he handed me the tablet.

“This is your guild card, it also serves as an ID so do not lose it. The card can only ever be used by you and it will automatically record all requests that you have accepted, finished or failed so think about which quests to take on.”

“Thank you very much Nino-san. I’ll be in your care from now on.”

I bowed and left the room to find my companions. It was very easy to locate them since they were surrounded by a large crowd of people drinking. They were already on their third round of drinks. I approached and proudly showed them my guild card.

“…Naoko…great…”

“Lass… that surprised me! When did you get strong enough to enter the guild?”

“When you found me that was only my temporary status thanks to whatever that person did to me. I leveled up on the way and I recovered a bit. But couldn’t you have warned me before? I spent time worrying what was going on with you for nothing.”

I pretended to be angry with them and hurt at the same time. Ordering a drink for me
they offered it as a sign of apology. Taking the glass I decided to do whatever and accept their gift. This was a different world and I was different as well. Maybe here I can actually drink.

Raising the class I cheered and downed it. The night has only begun.

***Nino’s POV***

It is not often that we get new members for the guild, much less young girls. That is why I was surprised to see such a person arrive at my counter asking to join the guild. Well the fact that she can stand in the same room with this unruly crowd shows that she has more than enough courage.

I led her to register. She turned out to be 17?! I seriously thought her to be twelve at the most. Talk about deceiving looks. It seems that I have hit a nerve with her when I mentioned that. I could imagine that this had happened more than once or twice and that it caused her some trouble.

But other than her unusual looks and age, her overall stats were rather high for a girl. Especially, since she didn’t spend her level up points yet, to have such base stats could mean she was either trained her whole life or she was born genius. Her titles and skills also were unusual among commoners.

I didn’t think that I would come across a double attribute magician as well, unfortunately she had the least useful magic. Nonetheless I think she will be able to find her place in parties just for her inventory skill.

After she left, I returned to my post. I saw that she was quite friendly with the Cerberus party that was on the brink of becoming an S-rank party. Well with those three around here she shouldn’t come across much trouble. The poor thing might even be crushed under the pressure of all the high rank adventurers. This way she will have a shield against bullying.

This was also the last time I thought about her as a poor thing. Tonight I was able to
witness the start of a legend. A brat drank five fully grown men under the table and won almost a hundred gold in bets merely in one night. Most of it came from Nord-san who up until now was hailed as the best drinker in the guild. Maeda Naoko, what a fearsome woman.
