CHAPTER 80: A SHOW OF POWER

As soon as the sign was given I jumped back as far as I could. It was not yet time to get into close combat. The Crown Prince remained in the same place, as expected he would go against me with his magic.

“Come elementals I offer you my mana in exchange for your help.”

“Naonao we’re here!”

“Nao, I will defeat all your enemies.”

“Guys I need you to protect me against his attacks, if anyone can do it then it is you. I am counting on everyone here.”

If there was a chance to anticipate his attacks then it will be down to the elementals that are literal manifestation of elements, or at least their representation. This was only the first step, what I needed right now is for him to change the terrain. I would do it myself, but why do something that other person can do as well.

Taking out my two swords I began my approach. Without pulling any punches I used Blink and moved directly behind him and slashed downwards. Sadly, before I could even reach him, I was blown away and thanks to the elementals I was able to land safely and skillfully.

I knew that my chances of success were low from the very start but I needed to try nonetheless. I didn’t want to go and use my trump card from the get-go. Changing my stance I prepared to use my charge skill.

Yesterday when Ishikawa-kun used this skill the Crown Prince changed the terrain and perfectly countered the skill, I wanted to know if he would do the same thing today. After all, this was quite an effective move to use. However, much to my disappointment he didn’t do it, instead as soon as I got close a sole boulder was erected that would stop me from reaching him.

I jumped up and further teleported into the air as I took out several throwing knives and flung them towards the prince. With that, while still in free fall, I began gathering my mana inside my swords. This was in order to use the strongest attack that relied on pure power.

This was a single slash that held massive energy which is then launched in a single line. The power is really out there, but if the opponent has even a little bit of brain he would be able to avoid it. The name of the move is Golden Moon, Earth Shattering Slash. If one were to take it head on, unless he had massive defensive power, he would be obliterated.

Technically speaking this counted as a lethal attack, but I was certain the Crown Prince would be able to defend against it. However, I didn’t want to risk it, so I aimed slightly away and immediately after releasing the slash, I also threw several needles aiming at him.

The Crown Prince easily swept away the knives and immediately raised several layers of earth and stone providing a shield from my slash. However, it couldn’t stop it entirely and all three layers that were formed were shattered into thousands of pieces. It was among this mess that another pillar appeared, just as I was about to land on the ground and sent me flying back into the air where strong wind blew me towards the edge of the stage.

I crashed onto ground feeling wounded all over. Immediately a soothing light enveloped me slowly healing me. I was truly lucky that the elementals seemed to truly like me and were willing to help me.

“Naonao, be well. His magic is weird, it’s too fast and I can’t see. Sorry Naonao.”

So even the elementals could do nothing against his [Instant Cast], he really is a true monster among people.

“Don’t worry; you guys did your best. This match is still far from over.”

“Come on Naoko-chan, I’m sure you can do better than this. I won’t deny that you are strong, but this is really disappointing. I expected more of you. You already did all this and couldn’t do anything as I remain untouched.”

“Heh… then it would seem you are getting rusty.”

I pointed towards his cheek. There on him was a small cut bleeding. He wiped his hand over it and stared in shock at the blood that was left on his hand. The smirk on his face disappeared immediately and even the audience was dead silent upon realizing the Crown Prince had been hurt.

“Damn you Naoko, how the hell do you dare to hurt me?!”

“A magician never reveals his tricks!”

I wanted this outcome. I needed him to stop being so calm and collected. That way he would leave an opening. The first wound he got was the result of him underestimating me, and I intend to make him lose not only his composure, but also the entire match.

“Behold, I will show you true power. I may have underestimated you a bit, but not even you could go against me when I show my true might. Consider yourself lucky, there is no person alive that has witnessed this magic. I will show it to you personally today.”

The temperature in the arena rose rapidly. Trusting my sense of danger, I used Blink to
move up into the air and with the help of wind elementals I stood somewhat still mid-air, although I was slowly falling down.

All around the Crown Prince lava was erupting and melting the earth. I should have known he would be able to combine the elements. He isn’t called a genius for naught. This is really bad for me. I wanted him to change the terrain, but not in this way. I need to come up with a counter somehow, otherwise I will run out of mana soon since staying in mid-air is not easy at
all.

“How do you like it? My magic Gates of Hell is able to kill countless enemies and have done so many times in the past.”

Shoot, I really need to turn this in my favor somehow. Sadly the only thing I had in plan would require a large chunk of my mana and I really didn’t want to spend it all at once.
