I was sitting atop its head. Since we came to an agreement I felt a bit at ease since it would not kill me immediately, but I still kept my guard up.

“Do what you want. I won’t forbid you from doing anything. I just wanted to be sure you wouldn’t kill me. Once I am out of here, you can go back to doing whatever it is you usually do. This is your home and I do not plan on taking you anywhere.”

“You call thisss place home? Thisss isss a prissson, didn’t you hear my name? I am the Guardian of the Deep. Ssstupid humansss captured me and put me here. I wasss once feared asss the Demon of the Sssea.”

Huh? This lake isn’t its home? Then I could definitely ensure its loyalty and respect towards me.

“How did they capture you? You seem rather large to be carried from the sea to this place.”

“It isss the cursssed sssword. It captured me and I wasss dumped here to act like a guard for their sssilly temple. Asss sssoon asss I wasss out, I killed them all and took away the cursssed sssword.”

That sword seems as powerful as the gem pendant. Since this was so long ago the sword might just be the one I saw earlier. If that is the case then I can be sure to gain another piece of the Rainbow blade.

“Okay, one more thing. This gem, why were you guarding it? I get that it is a legendary item, but I would have thought that you would be more concerned about the sword.”

So that’s how it was. The human that captured this serpent most likely combined the power of two items to overpower it. I still hadn’t explored the power of the gem, but it was strong enough to defeat this demonic serpent. It seems like my future is bright. Now it was time to make an offer.

“I’ll give you an offer. If you give me that sword, I will return you to the ocean. You will no longer be confined to this dark and gloomy place and if you do this, I will not ask you to submit to me, but you will have to promise not to kill me or anyone that I deem as a friend if I ever come across you again.”

Being locked away in this place for who knows how long must have been infuriating. Offering it to get away is the best option for this serpent.

The serpent remained silent for a while and then it started swimming suddenly.

“To use that name for ssswearing, you are either bold or ssstupid. It ssseemsss there are sssome that remember that name. Very well, I will let you take that sssword.”

Yes! This was it, now I can get out of here for sure. I was expecting the serpent to move towards the surface, but instead it kept on moving deeper. The sword I saw earlier must not have been the one I was looking for.

What the hell? The item is too strong. Compared to the Sword of Light which compels one to tell the truth, this is on a whole other level. Unless that sword also had some other broken skills. But now I can see the true value of Mermaid’s Tear in combination with this sword. Just imagining using Surging Waves with the Tear’s control ability, makes me shudder in freight.

“I’ll deliver you to the sea as soon as possible. That is my promise to you. Thank you for letting me have this. I first need to get to the surface, afterwards I will take you inside the sword, since I don’t have any other way to transport you, I hope that okay with you.”

The serpent was moving towards the surface. I had never thought that this trip would be this fruitful. Now the only thing left to do is to stop the rain. My mood immediately got that much better thinking about all the benefits that awaited me once I am back. Not only will this be another completed B-rank request, but I would also be able to count as a water magician even though I don’t have any water element magic thanks to these items. I just need to bring the pendant out of the temple. So the only thing I need to do is persuade that ghost woman to let me have it.
