Chapter 198 – Part 3

It was actually exactly what I was waiting for!
I could feel myself getting excited.
But… I had to stay calm.
First, I focused on the status screen.
The stat that went up with the level-up was AGI.
I put another point into VIT.

Creep Viper Lv7→Lv8 (↑1)
DEX 12
AGI 19 (↑1)
INT 12
STR 12
VIT 19 (↑1)
SPI 12

Skills:
Bite Wrap Scent Detection Heat Detection Conceal Poison

《Summon Monster『Creep』has cleared the Class Change conditions!》
《Please go to the Monster’s status screen to access the Class Change candidates.》

Alright…
I decided to sit down and think about it properly.
It felt strange to do so in the middle of nowhere in an underground cave, but it was a wise thing to do.

Just in case, I used 【Instant Portal】.
I recalled Couturier and summoned Loewe.
I prepared to use 【Fusion Identification】 too.

Class Change Candidates:
Venom Python
Cursed Viper

I already knew what the candidates were going to be.
If I remember correctly, Irina chose the Venom Python.
But which of the two would be the one I needed for fusion?
I first took a look at the Venom Python.

Creep Viper Lv8→Venom Python Lv1 (New!)
DEX 12
AGI 20 (↑1)
INT 12
STR 15 (↑3)
VIT 23 (↑4)
SPI 12

Skills:
Bite Wrap Scent Detection Heat Detection Conceal Poison

【Venom Python】 Summon Monster Battle Position: Ground
A type of superior Viper. Its main methods of attack are its bite and strangulation.
Its body is also larger than a normal Viper.
Unlike an ordinary python, it also has venom.

《The target is an eligible Summon Monster for fusion. One more Summon Monster is required.》
《All Summon Monster Fusion Targets are present.》

Oh!
It looked like I managed to guess which Summon Monster it was going to be right the first time.
But just to be sure, I decided to check out the other option too.

Creep Viper Lv8→Cursed Viper Lv1 (New!)
DEX 13 (↑1)
AGI 19
INT 14 (↑2)
STR 12
VIT 19
SPI 14 (↑ 2)

Skills:
Bite Wrap Scent Detection Heat Detection Conceal Poison Dark Attribute (New!)

【Cursed Viper】 Summon Monster Battle Position: Ground
A type of superior Viper. Its main methods of attack are its bite and strangulation.
It has gained the Dark Attribute, along with Dark Attribute Special Skills, and its ability as an ambusher is heightened as well.

《The target is not an eligible Summon Monster for fusion. A Class Change is required.》

Hey!
Could I fuse this guy to make another Summon Monster after its second Class Change?
How deep was this rabbit hole…
It was way too deep.

In any case.
I chose the Venom Python.
But that wasn’t the end.
I had to actually fuse the Summon Monsters.
And for that I had my new spell, 【Fuse Monsters】.
Just to be sure, I removed Loewe’s collar.
I had no idea what was about to happen.

「Fuse Monsters!」

What happened?

A menu appeared on a virtual window in front of me.
2 columns lined the left and right sides of the menu.
Under the columns was a button that read, “Fuse”.
The names of my Summon Monsters were in the left column.
There was the heading, “Summon Monster List” above that column, after all.

Senki
Heather
Creep
Loewe
Taylor

The right column was blank.
Or at least that’s what I thought.
There was the heading, “Fusion Candidate Monsters” above the column to the right

Did that mean I had to move them from left to right?
I see…
I focused my gaze on Creep’s name.
Keeping my gaze focused on the name, I moved my gaze to the right column.
I blinked once and Creep’s name moved from the left to the right column.
Hmm…
I did the same for Loewe.

Would that be enough to fuse my Summon Monsters?
I focused my gaze at the “Fuse” button.

《You can use 【Fuse Monsters】 on these Summon Monsters. Do you want to fuse these Summon Monsters together? 》
《Yes》《No》

Tsk.
I didn’t seem like they were going to tell me what the fusion result was actually going to be.
But there was nothing I could do about that.

I had already made up my mind to fuse them.

A magic circle appeared between Creep and Loewe.
From there, a new Summon Monster was probably about to appear.

When it appeared, I realised it was bigger than Loewe.
It had a terrifying, no, cruel expression.
Its tail was a snake’s tail.
It was smaller than Master’s Pyro Chimera, but it was still very big.
I could kind of already guess what would be on the virtual window when I focused my gaze on it.

[ ] Chimera Lv1 (New!)
DEX 15
AGI 22
INT 13
STR 25
VIT 27
SPI 14

Skills:
Bite Roar Scent Detection Heat Detection Night Vision
Conceal Predator Fusion Poison Breath Fire Attribute

A name input field was there too.
When I focused my gaze on the empty name field, three lines appeared.
Creep, Loewe, and an empty field below the two options.
It looked like giving my new Summon Monster a new name was possible too.
And if I wanted to, I could just name it Loewe or Creep too.

I decided to go for a new name.
This is what I ended up with:

Shishiku Chimera Lv1 (New!)
DEX 15
AGI 22
INT 13
STR 25
VIT 27
SPI 14

Skills:
Bite Roar Scent Detection Heat Detection Night Vision
Conceal Predator Fusion Poison Breath Fire Attribute

【Chimera】 Summon Monster Battle Position: Ground
A Fusion Summon Monster. Its main methods of attack are its bite, etc.
It has the body of a lion, and the tail of a snake.
It is also known to absorb the abilities of other monsters when preying on them.
The appearance of the Chimera varies very much depending on the individual.
A very temperamental and aggressive beast.

Wow!
It looked like an amazing beast!
Considering its status values and skills, it definitely felt like a Class Change Summon Monster.
But it still looked like it was a close-range fighter.
There were some interesting new skills too.
Breath?
Predator Fusion?
I had high hopes for the new skills.
I definitely had to try them out.

I adjusted Loewe’s collar again and managed to somehow equip it on Shishiku.
But if he got any bigger than this, it would definitely be tough…
I would probably have to ask Margrid for another set of equipment.

Yep. I would probably have to return to the Wind Spirit Village.
I had to make sure I didn’t forget.
Because I fused two Summon Monsters together, I noticed that it also became possible for me to summon another Summon Monster.

「Summon Monster!」

I narrowed down the list of summonable monsters to just the new Summon Monster candidates.
This time, there were a few more candidates.

Viper
Lion
Big Spider
Sea Snake

It was a very tough choice…
Both the Viper and the Lion looked like they had other routes leading to different Fusion Summon Monsters.
But I was also interested in the Big Spider and the Sea Snake. Monsters that I hadn’t seen before.
What should I do? Which Summon Monster should I go for?

After some thinking, this is what I decided on:

Denier Big Spider Lv1 (New!)
DEX 20
AGI 18
INT 15
STR 6
VIT 8
SPI 7

Skills:
Bite Vibration Detection Conceal Spin Web Trap Poison

It was quite small compared to Taylor.
But for a spider, it was definitely huge.
Poison attacks… And probably web and string attacks too?
It definitely looked very interesting.

Anyway…
It was definitely something I had to check out.
But I had to have Denier fight an Einherjar Fighter or Einherjar Soldier.
If I used strengthening spells, Denier could probably make it somehow.
Wait, Shishiku’s STR and VIT stats were already approaching Senki’s stats.
I could probably have him fight in the front too.

I left the Instant Portal.

In the front were Senki, Shishiku, and Taylor.
I had Heather as a support character in the back.
Maybe I could have Denier in the back as a dynamic support character too?
Well, my Summon Monsters would probably figure it out somehow.

Bifrost Guardian Lv.1
Heroic Spirit Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground Light Attribute Wind Attribute

Einherjar Soldier Lv.4
Heroic Spirit Enemy Target Active
Battle Position: Ground Earth Resistance

They probably weren’t the most suitable first enemies for Denier…
There were two Einherjar Soldiers.I let Senki take care of one, and Shishiku take care of the other.
Like Heather, Denier could probably support them from the rear, right?

Well, if not…
There were a lot of different ways to fight, so I could just leave it to him to figure out.

Shishiku’s fighting style wasn’t too different to Loewe’s fighting style.
But it was a little more… Dynamic?
It was very nice to see the snake tail attack at the same time Shishiku bit down.
To be honest, Taylor was completely overshadowed.
I completely forgot about the fact that the snake tail poison attacks weren’t working.
