Since the princess became unconscious, the water dragon let go of her. But, the water dragon who had lost its objective was now just wandering around the spring in circles.
「Princess!」
I ran towards the princess along with the man. Even from inside the barrier, I could feel the suffocating amount of aura was fading away and that means the princess’ ―no, that can’t be it.
I hastily looked into the face of the princess who was being embraced in Heinrich’s arms.
「Princess! Princess!」
I couldn’t hear that lovely voice that always answered 「Filmina」. My eyes filled up with tears and my vision became hazy. I tried calling her once more but was interrupted by the man who looked into the princess’ face and brought his hand near her mouth. When I looked at his face, he sighed with relief and looked back at me.
「There’s no need to panic. She’s alive.」
「I, I se…see.」
With that relief, all the energy escaped from my body. The man supported my body and stopped me from sitting on the ground. Aah, I’m glad, I’m glad about it. It isn’t like everything’s been solved just yet, but I’m just really happy that the princess is still alive. Tears began to fill up in my eyes but this time they were different kinds of tears. They were the tears of relief. I was relieved to see her cheeks slightly moving with each breath and suddenly, Heinrich, who was brushing his hand against her cheek, leaned towards her. I blinked my eyes, wondering what he was going to do next, and he pressed his lips on top of the princess’ lips again right in front of my eyes. I was baffled by it and in front of, no other than, my eyes, he stole her lips. It’s long, it’s too long, Heinrich. I heard a large snap sound in my head.
「Even if it was to protect the princess, I won’t forgive you this time! What do you think of a beautiful maiden’s lips, you insolent fool!!」
I hit Heinrich’s face with a piece of the white altar that was laying on the ground. I heard a dull sound and his body fell back on my surprise attack. He fell on the ground and remained there as I looked at him while breathing heavily. He pulled a feat of falling down while holding the princess carefully, it was an admirable feat, but his previous actions cannot be forgiven. Hitting him once or twice isn’t enough, I was wondering what to do with him still holding the princess and laying there. That’s when I felt a pull on my arm and I got embraced by Edi again.
「Now isn’t the time to do things like that. If you aren’t satisfied with hitting him once then you can do something later. I won’t stop you then.」
He wasn’t even shouting at me but his tone made me freeze with fear. I looked up into his eyes hesitantly and what I saw was pure rage. I lost my words and froze again.
Edi saw that I had finally become quiet and let out a big sigh. He glared up at the water dragon, who was causing destruction after losing its vessel. This man has probably decided what to do with the high tier water spirit that still remains here even after the princess has lost her consciousness. The chaos continued to spread as we speak. The man lifted his staff up.
A violent glow resided in the magical jewel that was the same colour as the man’s eyes. The water dragon noticed the light that had an intent to harm it, it lifted its head and looked towards us and roared. Edi stood up while holding me and stood in front of Heinrich and the princess to protect them. The magical jewel shone brighter and I put my hand on Edi’s hand holding the staff. We had once taken an oath to live together. The oath we took on our wedding. It’s the time to fulfill the obligations…no the right that comes with the oath.
As I was looking up at the water dragon listening to him cast a spell using the magical language, I heard a voice calling my name and the man’s name.
「Agedilus! Filmina!」
The medium who was about to be taken into the barrier created by Agedilus to join the flock of sheeps came towards us after resisting the people trying to take him away. His copper brown eyes shone brightly along with the magical jewels on his long hair and his iridescent hair looked as if it was emitting light.
「Snow-sama!?」
「Don’t interfere. Leave it to me.」
I called out his name as a reflex and he replied to me in a majestic tone. It was a tone full of resolve, something that was unheard of from him.
The medium took a step towards the water dragon, he didn’t fear its roars and looked up the water dragon with a serious expression. His hair rose up and copper brown eyes shone brightly. It was a scene that I couldn’t interfere with, without being able to say anything I just looked at it from the man’s arm and then suddenly the medium looked at me.
「Filmina, I’ll return the favour of this name that you gave me.」
The medium spread his hands wide apart. His appearance looked bigger than the normal appearance of a boy who hadn’t fully grown. The water dragon stopped and looked down at the medium and roared again. But, the medium responded to the frightening roar with a smile.
「My name is Snow, the one that is your friend! I apologize for the atrocities committed by us and I wish for your return from the depths of my heart. In the name of Snow, spirit, please respond to your friends wish.」
It wasn’t an ‘order’ it wasn’t looking at anyone from the higher ground or looking up at someone from below. It was a wish directed at a friend, an equal, and his voice was of someone who knew the responsibilities that came along with such a wish.
Edi had lectured the medium when we had just arrived in the Azure desert that if the medium didn’t like giving orders then he himself needed to find an answer to how he needs to act. What the medium did now was that. The boy known as the medium had finally found the answer. The medium who is also known as the beloved child of the spirits has the power similar to the princess. The man uses his magic to make the spirits obey him but on contrary to that the medium and the princess use the spirits with the premise that they are being loved by them. The spirits will gladly comply with the mediums ‘wish’. The high tier water spirit isn’t an exception to that. The water dragon gave a high pitched cry and flew up into the sky. Flying up in the sky with the water from the spring, his appearance was that of a tornado. Everyone around sighed in relief but the medium murmured 「Oh dear.」
「I’ve made a mistake. At this rate it will take all the water from the spring.」
The medium hurriedly tried to call back the water dragon but it had risen to such altitude that his voice could no longer reach it. The water that is attached to its tail got dragged higher and higher into the sky. As the spring water grew less and less, the people surrounding it grew paler and at that moment the man lifted his staff up while holding me in his arms. His thin lips started reciting the ancient magical words that I can’t understand.
Splash! I heard something exploding in the air and at the same time the layer of water in the air got cut and came falling into the spring. It was also followed by something else.
「―Snow?」
Fluttering and shining brightly, reflecting the sunlight, snow came falling like blue petals. It melted in my hand as I touched it unconsciously. Cold yet gently, the snow was falling upon the ground.
「It’s a miracle…..」
I heard someone’s stunned voice. That voice served as a trigger and the murmur turned into a commotion. The commotion turned into cheers of joy and it wasn’t limited to inside the walls but it could be heard from outside too.
「E,Edi? What did you do?」
I asked the man who had caused all this and he replied, 「Nothing special.」
「I just changed the direction of the spirit’s power.」
「What do you mean by 『Just』…..」
I think it’s a complex skill that can’t just be summed up like that but for this man it’s just that simple. I got cold due to the falling snow and got closer to Edi. He enveloped me like it was an obvious thing to do.
The medium came running towards us and he had a smile that of a boy and the majestic look from the prior was nowhere to be seen.
「You could have obliterated it by force but you chose to let it go. You really are kind, Agedilus! 」
The man remained silent even when exposed to a bright smile. He just looked away and I think it wasn’t just me who understood that he was just embarrassed. The medium came running towards the man smiling and smiled once again and tilted his head.
「Was that the correct answer to the assignment you gave me?」
「I’ll say that you got the passing grade.」
Upon hearing his twisted answer, the medium and I looked at each other and laughed.
