CHAPTER 206: DEATH’S PLAYGROUND

I could feel myself coming to, but I was confused as to where exactly I was. The only thing that I could see was the Archduke in front of me grasping my hand.

“Okay you should be back to normal now, but we have a slight problem. Actually a big one. This is the first time something like this had happened.”

A problem, and one that he acknowledges, what happened that caused said problem? If I were to take my past experiences into account I must have drunk some alcohol, and knowing my drunk personality I most likely have decided to have a fight with the Archduke, but none of that explains how I got here. Moreover…

“Let go of my hand. How long do you plan on holding it? Also where are we?”

“That is the problem you see… As I told you before, something good might happen here, and well, it did. The one thing that I didn’t expect is that both of us will get our hands on it at the exact same time.”

What is he going on about? I was about to ask him to give a clear explanation when I got the notification.

“A dungeon?! This is a good thing that you mentioned? Do you have any idea how hard I worked to hide my identity as a dungeon master?”

“I didn’t plan on letting you become one in the first place. Even with the other one. I planned on hogging it all for myself, but you actually outsmarted me that time.”

Talk about being humble. He gave me the dungeon seed and now he seems super hurt that I took something from him. If you didn’t want me to have it, you shouldn’t have given it away.

“So how did this happen and why is it a problem?”

“Well the problem lies in the fact that both of us are recognized as the dungeon master, but there is only one core, so unless both of us agree, there is nothing we can do about this dungeon. Basically, any time that we want to do something here, we must both be present.”

That is a bummer, at least I will have another source of DP. Now, should try and set it up at the very least. We will figure out stuff later.

“Okay, let’s put the beginner seal for now. We need to set it up, just place the core wherever, it is in your possession since I don’t have it on me.”

“Fine, but you must agree if we are to do it.”

“Yeah sure, I agree.”

The core was placed and the seal became active. It will give us four days to act. As soon as the seal was activated I used transfer magic and took both of us outside. I made sure to slam us into one of the valley cliffs.

“What the hell Naoko? We still have work to do.”

“Shut up and act dazed. Vitou is about to come here.”

“Now you’ve done it! Your actions just created a dungeon. I don’t know if you were aware that this would happen, but you really screwed up now. Both of you did. And to make things worse you weren’t even chosen as dungeon masters seeing how both of you got expelled from it.”

Time to put my acting skill to test. I know that the Archduke won’t get in any trouble whatsoever, but that was not the case for me. I might get dragged to Kapitalia after all this is settled.

“My head hurts. What happened? Why am I outside? I was drinking the vinegar as punishment, so why am I outside?”

I was known to be unable to remember anything after drinking. So my alibi was rock solid. I saw Vitou about to explode from anger, but not being able to say anything. I think this is the first time where I am thankful to have a childish figure and face since it definitely helped making me look innocent in this situation.

“Archduke, I will hold you responsible for this event. I demand some form of refund for all the cost that it will take to clear this dungeon. We must report this to Kapitalia then wait here for the reinforcements. This dungeon needs to be under constant observation.”

Furious, Vitou left us and I saw him walk back to the inn. Once he left I winked at the Archduke and got up. I started walking back to the inn still acting confused about the entire situation.

“My dear little sister, you really are sly. I’ll give you a thumbs up. Your acting is on point. I can already see that in the future you will be able to control many strong people and have them dance in the palm of your hand. This big brother is impressed.”

“Shut up… We will go back in once everyone is asleep.”

Back at the inn I had to give full access to the conference room to Vitou so he could report and I also had to apologize for forging a communication crystal that had a way to receive messages from the nobles. For that reason I decided to take out my favorite stash of sweets that I had and bribe him with that. Hopefully when he leaves the room he would be in a better mood.

To apologize for my actions I offered everyone to stay at the inn for free until everything was resolved here. I even gave some food to the dragons that were disturbed earlier. Luckily they didn’t hold a grudge and only thought of it as something inevitable.

Once the night arrived I went to get the Archduke and then transferred to the dungeon. There was a lot of things that we needed to do, and not enough time to do it.

“I say we do random avatar… I got lucky last time. Also I don’t see any option for choosing the avatar.”

“Random it is, besides, there is no need to worry about them. They don’t have any great power and are just needed to manifest power.”

A grim reaper materialized in front of us. He seemed transparent, but his giant scythe was very much realistic. To be honest, just looking at him gave me the creeps.

“So the children of death summoned me. I must say I am quite honored. How will you have me serve you today little siblings?”
