With how gigantic he has grown, he could easily be mistaken for a mountain now. He slowly raised his hand made from chalk-colored rock and pointed it towards Ayato, and when he did so, stony weapons of various shapes and sizes were hurled towards her.
Swords, spears, axes, halberds clubs and spiked maces, all of them were being shot towards her one after another in a non-stop barrage of rocky death. Overall there was more than seventy of them, but they were being thrown at such high speed that they were making the optical illusion as if they were bullets shot from a machine gun. If that little girl, who was made out of nothing but soft, fragile flesh would be hit by even one of them, her body would undoubtedly end up being split in half with chunks of meat and puddles of blood spraying in every possible direction.
However, Ayato just stood there without moving her Linked Sword at all, and her eyes were strongly conveying a simple, yet powerful message: she was going to stop them all from reaching their intended targets. Right now, she was about to become the Giant Spirit Train’s unbreakable shield with a resolve not to let a single attack go past her.
「*Inhale….*, *Exhale…*」
She calmed and fixed her breathing, unleashing her Serpens Scorpius Sword Flash.
At this very moment, her mind was even sharper than it was back on the Giant Spirit Train’s deck when she was fighting Asterios, Byakko and Shen Gongbao at the same time. With just a light move of her hand, she deflected the stone double-edged axe which was flying towards her at the forefront of the weapon shower, causing it to collide with other axes and spears following closely behind it, causing them to be knocked down to the ground a good distance away from her. It was a good opening strike that managed to take care of a good number of hostile weapons, but just like Ayato expected, it didn’t affect all of them.
Fortunately enough, she was able to accurately predict how many arms will remain after that first repel, so now she was able to catch all of the remaining ones as they were inches away from her in midair and throw them all back where they came from without breaking their momentum.
This was a manuever that no ordinary hero, or even most of the Divine Spirits for that matter could successfully pull off, which begged the same question that he was asking himself before, when she was able to knock Shen Gongbao’s head off her shoulders with a single arrow surprise attack:
Exactly how much would one have had to polish and hone their skills in order to perform inconceivable feats like that as if they were second nature to them? Because what she did just now was way beyond the realm of even the most exquisite of martial arts.
Until now, something deep inside of the Minotaur’s very soul was telling him that he should be afraid of that girl and her abilities, but after witnessing the spectacle that played itself before his eyes, he couldn’t help it but to change those feelings of fear into those of respect, because he finally understood why he must change his approach to this battle if he wants to overcome the Giant Spirit Train’s current defender.
Try as hard as could to break her with the flood of an unlimited amount of weapons, now he was absolutely sure that she would never falter before them. Because those who managed to master one single weapon to the point where their mastery with that weapon could be described as nothing but the divine extension of their own selves had nothing to be afraid of from someone who did not master even one and tried to blindly hurled large quantities them at them, hoping to overwhelm them with nothing but numbers alone. And speaking of numbers…
The amount of weapons that Ayato managed to shoot down from the sky has now reached fifty, and before anyone could notice, her surroundings became filled with large amounts of broken pieces of rocks that did not even resemble weapons anymore. But as the Minotaur was about to find out, Ayato was not the only one who was hell-bent on protecting the Giant Spirit Train from being destroyed along with everyone inside of it.
When he was least expecting it, another shadow has swooped down towards him from the heavens above while releasing all kinds of wind-based attacks: wind slashes, bullets, waves and currents towards the rocky giant in a seemingly random order.
(. . . . . . ughhhhh! Another one?! Where in the world are they even coming from?!)
However, it was inevitable that the Bull Monster made out of chalk would miss her, because she – Ayazato Suzuka that is – departed the 『Sun Thousand』 at the same time Ayato did, but instead of going together with her on the ground, Suzuka opted for a more stealthy approach of teleporting herself way above the canopy of the clouds that were now hanging over the entire Labyrinth grounds and keeping herself up there, right outside of the reach of the enemy’s senses with consecutive teleportations supported by the winds from the Paopei she stole from Shen Gongbao.
「Look out cause there is a big move incoming so you’d better take cover, Aya!」
「Understood! But you’d better try to control it even a little bit, okay Suzuka?!」
「No promises there!」
With that said, Suzuka released the entirety of the wind she was able to create in this single moment in one go, mowing down the remaining weapons without fail and scattering all of their remains to the four winds, no pun intended.
According to Shen Gongbao herself, operating the Paopei responsible for the control of the weather and the five elements, but that was the case only if what the user needed them for were precise attacks and operations, but as long as the elemental attacks were to be fired at random outputs and in random directions, effectively eliminating that otherwise crippling drawback. And to top it all off, as long as she kept that exact attitude, Suzuka could stay high in the air where she didn’t need to worry about getting hurt, all the while continuing to hurl her own projectiles of destructive force down on the Minotaur, contributing to the battle by having him choose between focusing his attention either on her or Ayato. Thinking about it, the Paopei were a prefect match for someone like Suzuka, who excelled the most at mobility and doing many things seemingly all at the same time.
Having all of his weapons utterly destroyed, the Minotaur immediately began to produce another batch of them which he intended to release in an attack similar to the previous one, but stronger and deadlier than the last one, and his target… would be Suzuka in the air. His aim was to decrease the amount of crafty tricks his opponents could employ against him, but he didn’t even realized that such a method of approach, chosen by him in a hasty manner after what he just witnessed was an exceptionally poor choice of a strategy. Unaware of how useless what he was about to do was going to be, he aimed his hand at Suzuka and shot another volley of rock-crafted weapons towards her.
Anticipating that this was what he was going for, Suzuka already knew what to do and she immediately moved out of harm’s way with her Teleportation.
(Damn it!)
Frustrated, the Monster of the Labyrinth cursed in his mind. Just how big of an idiot was he? He knew that this girl was the Teleportation Gift user, and still he chose to attack her from the front. That was the prime example of stupidity id there ever was one. He blindly assumed that she was going to do what the other girl did and try to deflect the weapons that were flying towards her with the Paopei’s winds again, but if she possessed the means to not come into contact with them at all, then of course she would use them not to face them head on!
In order to fight a Teleportation user, what one needed was not as many weapons as one could carry, but rather a Gift that would allow them to either block, counter or disable the opponent’s ability to freely transport themselves from place to place, and that is why those who wanted to fight Teleportation users were practically required to possess either Gifts that granted them either the ability to predict the future or the one allowing for wide area perception. That is why those who used teleportation and all of the abilities related to it were perceived as the most troublesome people to fight even here in Little Garden, which was filled to the brim with all manner of Gods and deities who possessed powers that could be called broke, overpowered or world-changing.
