「In the Labyrinth of Quratar, it’s a rare item that is dropped by the Silver Caterpillar, the Floor Boss on the 44th floor. 」

Going to the 44th floor of Quratar’s Labyrinth might be a good choice for now, like a nice mix of sweet and sour.

Led by Roxanne, who doesn’t even flinch when facing Floor Bosses from floors above the forty-fifth, we were moving up the floors of the Labyrinths at an incredible pace. It’s really an astonishingly fast pace. We’re just continuing to rise higher and higher. Is this really okay though? My worries are endless.

The Labyrinth is essentially a place where you risk your life. A place to fight for your life. If you make the wrong decision about which floor is right for you, you will lose your life. That’s why I want to move up slowly, taking my time to assess my situation. I don’t want to move up quickly with a surprisingly rough judgment; I want to settle in until I feel comfortable. I want to avoid rushing and dying suddenly because of it.

But then there’s Roxanne. As if this level of enemies was no problem to her, she says:「not yet」 and moves on to a higher floor without hesitation. Thanks to this, we’ve come a long way. But now it’s time to take our time and repeatedly fight the Floor Boss on the 44th floor.

「The 44th floor of Quratar’s Labyrinth, huh? That’s perfect. It will prepare us for the next floor, so for now we can keep fighting the Floor Boss and gather items for a while. 」

「The Floor Boss on the 44th floor is no match for us. 」

「Yes, but the basics are important, though. It’s important to fight some relatively easy enemies and reaffirm the basics to not forget them. 」

According to Roxanne, the Floor Boss on the 44th floor is no match for us. I’m not saying I can’t beat it, but… No, it’s not good to be swayed by Roxanne like this. It’s best to steadily build up your skills, one step at a time. That’s why I’m going slowly.

「Roxanne and the others are so cute, so If there’s a chance to dress you all up, there’s no way I’m going to let it go to waste. We should definitely get the Mithril Thread. 」

「Oh, t-thank you. 」

「The conditions aren’t too bad for the 44th floor. It’s not too difficult. 」

「Of course. 」

「I’ve gotten Mithril Thread a few times before, but I sold it all. I’ll have to collect more from now on. 」

Good. A complete victory. I want to run around with a piece of paper that says 「victory」on it. I want to go outside the Labyrinth and hold it up. I want to let the world know that I was right.

By the way, the opposite of a victory is not a loss, but an unjust verdict. I won because of my conviction. If I lost, it would be someone else’s fault. It’s a simple and clear truth of the world.

「It says that you need three mithril threads to make a single pair of those slimming socks. 」 Sherry told me. That’s great news.

Mithril Thread is a rare item that drops one or two times a day if you repeatedly fight the Floor Boss on the 44th floor of Quratar’s Labyrinth. Since it’s not an ingredient, even if you use a Chef Job, the drop rate won’t increase.

In other words, it will take days. We’ll be holed up there for days. This is convenient for me.

「Well, there’s no other way. Of course, I’ll have to get enough for everyone. 」

「I understand. 」

In fact, I might as well get ten instead of three.

Apparently, it takes one piece of Mithril Thread to make a pair of socks, and the other two are just for a margin of error. That’s good too. This is convenient.

We’ve been rushing up the floors of the Labyrinths recently. It might be a good idea to take our time and gather our strength here. To do that, I’ll hole up on the 44th floor. I’ll be fighting bosses on the 44th floor repeatedly, until we’ve gathered a lot of rare drops.

Miria, Vesta, and Rutina also agree. It’s decided then.

「Okay. If that’s decided, let’s move to the 44th floor of Quratar. Sherry, do you still have business here? 」

「No. If we investigate closely, we might find some information, but I don’t think it’s worth going that far. 」

Since Sherry doesn’t seem to have any reason to stay here, we moved to Quratar’s Labyrinth. We left the small room near the Boss Room on the 44th floor and hurried to the battlefield. No. I’m not in a hurry. Mainly Roxanne is.

「Hmm. I can smell monsters coming from the other side. Should we take a bit of a detour? Or should we head to the Boss Room? 」

「Let’s take a little detour. 」

Damn. I’ve been fooled. Rocanne acted like she was not interested in going, so I didn’t think there were that many. Up until now Roxanne has been the one who has been proactive in places with a lot of monsters. She is still as pushy as ever. Listen guys, don’t be pushy like her.

「I think it’ll be fine. 」

We went towards the Boss Room while fighting as many monsters as we could along the way. Well, it can’t be helped. The more we take a detour, the more time it’ll take. It will take longer to collect rare drops, and it will take longer to reach the Floor Boss. It’s not a bad thing. And it’s Roxanne’s initiative, so I can’t complain. It’s not like we’ll be in a pinch against the monsters on the 44th floor at this point. Because we won’t, right?

I wanted to take my time and slowly climb the floors to see what they’d be like, but, well, they’re not the opponents that we can’t beat. However, they’re also not opponents that we can defeat with our eyes closed, so they’re just right for us at our current level. This is good, this is good.

「It was an easy win after all. 」

No no. It wasn’t that easy. It was quite a close call.

I end up providing support from the back, so It’s fine for us if you take a longer route because it won’t affect me that much.

「From now on, let’s attack areas with a lot of monsters in them. 」

「Look, the Boss Room is right there. 」

We went to the Boss Room and fought the Floor Boss.

The boss of the 44th floor of Quratar’s Labyrinth is two Silver Caterpillars. They’re probably strong, but I can handle them. I say 「probably」because I’ve never had to use my full power against them. And that’s because…

「Yes, I did it, desu! 」

Because Miria neutralizes the opponents early on. Well, there are only two Floor Bosses in the Boss Rooms from the 34th to 44th floors, so as long as Roxanne and Vesta take on one each, it shouldn’t be too much of a problem even if they are strong.

Still, relying on Miria’s Estoc of Petrification all the time is a bit scary. When we go to higher floors, there will probably be enemies that petrification won’t work on. I’d like to be prepared for that moment.

「As expected. 」

It’s probably too easy for Roxanne to think it was a piece of cake, but that doesn’t mean it will always be that way. Sometimes things might not go well, so I’d like her to at least consider the worst-case scenario sometimes.

As Roxanne mutters something, I focus on defeating the petrified Floor Boss with Durandal.

Thanks to using Durandal to whittle down the petrified Floor Boss, my HP and MP are pretty much always full, so it’s hard for me to imagine the worst-case scenario, since I was never once forced to spam Recovery Magic until my MP was empty. It’ll probably never happen, so maybe it would be better to fight on a higher floor?

No, that’s not good. Roxanne is messing with my thoughts again. I’ve been tainted by her, so I need to purify myself of those filthy thoughts!
