Chapter 28: Character & Nation Introduction (As of End of Part One)

This is an introduction to the characters and nations as they stand at the end of Part One.

◆◆◆ Barbar ◆◆◆

・Barbar
⇒ Refers to the collective tribes living in the northern forests under imperial rule.
Because their language sounds like 「Barbar! Barbar!」 to Imperial ears, they came to be called Barbars.
Imperials look down on them as savages inferior to themselves.

◆ Gaia (Protagonist)
Thirteen years old, male, human.
Son of the chieftain of the Blumunt tribe of the Barbars. Became chieftain after his father’s death in battle.
Sworn to one day overthrow the Empire that killed his father.
A reincarnated Japanese man.
Was granted three skills by a god.

・Before Reincarnation
Part of the 「Lost Generation.」 Forty-two years old.
Couldn’t find stable employment; drifted between part-time jobs.
Died in a traffic accident while working night shifts as a construction guard.

・Blumunt Tribe
A human tribe of the Barbars located at the southernmost edge—closest to the Empire.
Because of frequent contact with the Empire, they serve as the face of Barbar relations and act as representatives.

Regeneration ⇒ Restores physical body.

Information Download ⇒ Currently provides language abilities.

◆ Athos
Gaia’s uncle. Middle-aged.
Gentle and supportive by nature.
Has black hair, a black mustache, and a round face—though the author may have forgotten to describe him in the story.

◆ Rosso
Chieftain of the Great Lizard Tribe.
The Lizard Tribe are beastfolk with large lizard-like appearances.
Stronger than humans and serve as front-line warriors in battle.
Not the sharpest thinker. Gets along well with Gaia.

◆ Drye
Vice-chief of the Great Lizard Tribe.
Rosso’s right-hand man. Handles practical matters.

◆ Jessica
Beautiful Elf girl. Thirteen years old. Niece of the Elf chieftain.
Gaia’s lover.
Her parents were killed by the Empire.
Can use magic.
Currently, she’s… still flat-chested, apparently.

◆ Elranief
Chieftain of the Elves.
Age unknown. Appears like a handsome character drawn by Maya Mineo-sensei.
Uses magic.
The Elves speak their own Elven language.
Trusts Gaia because he can converse in Elvish.

・The Empire
⇒ The Vaffancrow Empire.
A powerful nation spanning the central to southern regions of the continent.
The current Emperor aggressively expands territory through military force.

◆ Emperor
A militaristic ruler.
Drives expansion while troubled by internal unrest within the Empire.

◆ Crown Prince Muno
A useless Crown Prince with a fondness for wine, gourmet food, and women.
Saved by Gaia, yet fails to show any gratitude.

◆ Benito Ponkots
An Imperial noble who serves Crown Prince Muno.
Somewhat of a useless man.

◆◆◆ Kingdom of Argeas ◆◆◆

・Kingdom of Argeas
⇒ A kingdom with territory to the east of the Empire.
A relatively new regional power that expanded rapidly under the current king.
Acts to resist Imperial aggression.

◆ Karanos
A soldier of the Argeas Kingdom.
Disguises himself as a merchant, appears in various places gathering intel.

◆ Prince Alex
Exceptionally talented. Exceptionally strong.
A chiseled, handsome man.
A walking cheat code.
