Even though the girl was surrounded by menacing-looking men, she did not look frightened at all and was still smiling.

She was acting in a really lenient and carefree way, as if she was not concerned with those men at all……

It clearly was not normal. No normal woman would ever react to a situation like that in such a way.

The girl would not answer to any of those words.

She would just stand there and giggle.

　On the other hand, the men did not even try to hide their desires, but wore lowly and lustful expressions on their faces.

If it was just a normal pickup, I would have just pretended that those men must have been acquainted with that girl and I would just leave it at that, but……

Apparently, those men were thinking about something much more sinister than a mere pickup.

But I knew one thing for sure: the fear and dread I was feeling right now was more than enough to shatter anyone’s sense of confidence into tiny little pieces.

Yes…… It was a pure and primal fear.

I don’t know why I would feel that way, and I clearly did not have any reason to feel that way, but I was scared out of my mind right now.

Now is not the time to be trapped in an unidentified sense of fear!

I have to go there and help that girl right now!

「What do you think you’re doing!? Move!」

I scolded my trembling body and forced myself to step forward, one step at a time.

At the sound of my voice, one of the men looked at me in dismay.

Apparently the men, too, had been given an unidentified sense of fear and dread and were unable to move on their own.

At that moment the smiles disappeared from the men’s faces.

If they had that much energy left in them, I was afraid that they actually might think of doing something weird again.

Maybe I was going a little bit too easy on them.

However, I can’t just leave this girl all alone and chase after them just to teach them a lesson……

So I guess it just cannot be helped.

Let’s just call it a day for now.

「…… Are you okay?」

I turned my back to the girl and asked her that.

「Yes, I’m fine, thank you.」

The girl smiled lazily at me.

She then continued with a small bow.

「Thank you for coming to my rescue like that. I don’t even know what should I do to thank you for saving me.」

「No, there’s no need for you to thank me. I was just doing the obvious thing.」

「Well, fufufu, aren’t you one auspicious person?」

The girl giggled slightly……

Then she leaned forward gingerly and looked into my face.

She was really close to my face, but……

She smelled strangely sweet and made me feel a bit lightheaded, if I was going to be completely honest here.

The girl stared at my face, as if she was trying to stamp out a price on some precious object.

「Oh yeah, that’s right. I never actually introduced myself properly to you, didn’t I ? Sorry about that. Well, my name is Rein. Rein Shroud. I’m an Adventurer.」

「Rein Shroud…….. Oh my, that’s a lovely name. I’ve grown rather fond of you, Rein-san.」

「I mean, even if you say it to me like that……」

「I would like to make you mine if I could help it…… How about that? What do you think? Will you become mine?」

Along with a bewitching look, such an invitation was made to me completely out of the blue.

Even though she looked like a girl who was even younger than me……

The way in which she was carrying herself was indicating that she was way more mature than she was letting on……

The bewitching atmosphere almost made me nod my head in disbelief.

The girl pinched the hem of her skirt in her fingers, raised it slightly and then bowed down lightly.

「My name is Iris. From now on, I look forward to leaving myself in your generous care.」
