CHAPTER 216: LET’S GO TO THE ROYAL CAPITAL! PART 1

「…… So that is why, I’m thinking of undertaking that Promotion Exam. What do you guys think about it?」

After our business with the Adventurers’ Guild was over, we left the building and went straight back home.

While we were on our way back, I started to think about the Rank A Promotion Exam, and after doing some serious thinking and pondering and deliberating inside of my head…… I ultimately decided that I would like to take that exam and give it a try.

Because of that, I gathered everyone else in the living room so that I could consult them about that matter.

「Fumuh, A Rank, huh? Finally, the time has come, huh!? My success and power is going to be recognized and awed worldwide!」

「Luna, why is it that your thoughts are always drifting in THAT particular direction every single time? Besides, it’s Rein’s success, not your own. Seriously, I would like to see what the inside of your head looks like for you to think like that.」

「Fufufu, oh, enough with the praise already, Sister Dearest! You are going to make me blush!」

I wasn’t praising you here, but…… Really now, sometimes I’m really worried about what your future is going to look like, you know?」

I could see that Sora and Luna were as cheerful and as close as always.

「A Rank, huh…… Just how great and amazing is that, exactly……?」

「Hmm…… Well, if I had to compare that to anything else, I guess it would be like becoming a king? Or something alongside those lines.」

「Ooohhh! Rein the King, huh……? So, does that mean that you are going to be wearing…… a crown on your head?」

「I guess that’s part of being a King, but that’s also not the only characteristic……」

I could see that Nina and Tina were also making a great duet as well. Just like Sora and Luna did.

「Nyah! I have a question!」

「Why exactly do you wish to aim for the A Rank straight after being promoted to B Rank?」

Kanade Tanya asked me that almost in unison, seemingly being on the same page here.

「Achieving the A Rank grants the Adventurer a whole lot of useful benefits, which can make one’s future life and jobs a whole lot easier. It’s all good, but I think that the most important thing here is that one’s voice is becoming way more powerful and influential.」

「Nya, nyah? More power and influence?」

「Natalie-san said that an A Rank Adventurer can have as much power and influence as some members of the nobility.」

Sora and Luna gasped in reaction to my words.

「Muh? Well, does that mean that becoming A Rank is going to be great for us all? Fufufun! I guess the time has come for the entire world to learn about my nobility and magnificence!」

「Yeah, at this rate it is going to be a display of shame and simplicity rather than nobility and magnificence.」

「Hey, that was helluva mean! Wanna go!? You want to take this one outside, huh!?」

「Oh my, didn’t you know that? When it comes to conflicts, they tend to occur between people on the same levels. And since the two of us are on entirely different levels, there is no need for me to bother with you, not to mention going into conflict with you.」

「Mukyaaaaaahhhhhh ———!!!!!! Them’s the fighting words!」

「You two…… Could you please be quiet for a moment…… Fighting is…… no good……」

「「Yes, we are deeply sorry.」」

The way in which Sora and Luna were being so loud must have upset Nina, and the moment she told them off, the Spirit Tribe twins lowered their heads and apologized for their behavior.

「Yeah, umm…… Back to the topic at hand, but when you are given a certain amount of both power and authority, there is more that you will have to say on certain matters and subjects, right? Normally an individual opinion is not something that matters that much, but when multiple Adventurers are working together and share a single opinion, as was the case with Iris, they will follow the orders of their superiors without a single complaint or question…… Even though it creates situations where you have to work in a specific way, even if it goes against your personal principles.」

「Rein…… Could it be that you still can’t get over that situation with Iris?」

「No, I’m fine. I have already put that behind me.」

I smiled at Tanya, who gave me a worried look.

「Thanks to that lecture that you gave me, Tanya, I was able to put that behind me. So now I can focus on looking straight ahead, instead.」

「I-Is that so…… Well, that’s all good, I guess.」

「Nayuh…… Now I’m all curious as to what that’s all about.」

Kanade was looking at Tanya with suspicion in her eyes.

But as for Tanya, she just pretended to not notice that glare of Kanade’s and just shifted her gaze to the side.

「I think that with more power and influence, we are going to be able to openly disregard orders from above and question their validity. What’s more, that might allow us to be able to take a certain degree of independent actions when we would need to do just that.」

「I don’t really think that we need to worry about that. At least not that much.」

「Unfortunately, we cannot be so sure about that. In Iris’s case, various factors came together at just the right time, and the result was that ultimately everything ended up okay…… But normally, it wouldn’t be so strange for us to be severely punished for disobeying direct orders and acting on our own like we did.」

「Hm, I see.」

「That’s why I want to aim to reach A Rank as soon as possible. With that, we are going to have way more independence and autonomy when we are going to need it the most.」

I then made a slight pause as I looked at everyone gathered in the living room.

They were all listening to me closely, their eyes focused on me and me alone.

「I think it’s a good idea. I agree with it!」

「I agree with that as well. If it means that we don’t have to follow some boring and bad orders, then I am all for it.」

First of all, Kanade and Tanya agreed with me almost instantly.

「I don’t see anything wrong with that decision, either. Fufufun! I want to have more power and influence so that I can boss people around!」

「…… Saying things like that only confirms that you would never be a good leader. Oh, but what I meant to say, Sora also agrees with that idea!」

Sora and Luna also agreed with my proposition without a moment of delay.
As for the other two members of our party……

「Yup…… I think it’s…… good idea.」

「I think so, too. Besides, there are bound to be a whole lot more benefits to being A Rank than the ones that Master Rein mentioned, right? So as long as you have the opportunity to get that promotion, I think it’s a good idea to take it.」
