CHAPTER 222: THE BANQUET PART 1

「Rein…… Shroud? Did you just say “Shroud”?」

「Umm, yes, but…… Is there something wrong with that……?」

The King seemed to be surprised for some reason, as there was an expression of sheer shock and disbelief painted all over his face.

Why would he ever look like that? And especially after hearing my name?

「Father? Is there something wrong?」

「No, it’s just that…… Well…… No, nevermind. It’s nothing.」

Thalia-sama looked at her father with utmost curiosity, but it was because of that that the King managed to regain his composure and his stoic expression.

「Well then, for tonight I shall have my cooks do their very best for the sake of my daughter’s benefactor. Thalia. I would like you to guide Shroud-san and his companions back to the guest room. I supposed that you also have a whole lot of things that you would like to talk about with him, correct?」

「Yes, that’s right. Thank you very much, Father. Now then, Rein-san, everyone. Please come this way.」

「Y-Yeah, right……」

Although I noticed that the King was staring at me rather intently……

This time around, he did not seem to be able to answer the question that I asked of him.

Both Kanade and Luna were eating all sorts of dishes with great fervor and vigor.

And the way in which they were eating so fast and so greedily, as if they were afraid that someone might take the food away from them…… I was surprised they did not suffocate on the food yet.

It seems that they were completely enthralled by the food of the royal family, to the point where there were heart-shaped marks visible in their brightly sparking eyes.

Now, even though Sora tried to chastise her sister for her unbecoming behavior, Luna’s hands would simply not stop grabbing the food and she continued to stuff her face.

Even though she looked pretty dumbfounded by her younger sister’s behavior, Sora was also having her plate stacked with food to the plate’s very limits.

The pace of her eating was way slower than that of Luna’s, but her appetite was exactly just as voracious, and that was surely not the end of her meal.

Looking at the two Spirit Tribe self-proclaimed gourmands eating lots of different dishes, Tanya was eating meat almost exclusively with a dumbfounded look on her face.

「Huh?　Hmmm…… Did that do it? Are they gone now?」

「No, at least not yet. Now, if you would just stay put for a moment, please. I will wipe them all for you, so don’t worry about it.」

Tina’s small body floated gently in the air and she wiped the sauce stains from around Nina’s mouth.

Since it was already nighttime and we were all indoors, there would have been no problem with Tina actually using her Ghost body during the banquet……

However, since it would be quite disastrous and catastrophic to have a genuine Ghost roam the halls of the royal castle as if it was the most natural thing to do, we decided that it would be better for her to remain in her doll body.

「Now listen closely Nina. You are a very cute and adorable young lady, so you shouldn’t eat in such a messy way and get dirty with sauce all over. Let’s leave that sort of behavior to Kanade, and don’t try to act like her.」

「Goodness gracious, could you stop putting Nina on the spot like that? She is already pretty shy, so no need to put any extra pressure on her like that.」

Nina, who was not used to being praised so much, blushed heavily and started to mumble under her nose in apparent embarrassment.

But that behavior of hers actually had the opposite effect of what she intended to do, as it was so cute that Tina started to praise her cuteness even harder than before.

When someone called out to me all of a sudden, I turned around to see Thalia-sama approaching me.

The elaborate and gorgeous dress that she was wearing was making it look as if she was glittering, only accentuating her natural beauty.

I had no idea that a single article of clothing could make someone leave such a strong impression on the entire environment around them.
