Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 230 Part 1

CHAPTER 230: THE TEST OF ABILITY PART 1

The very first test of the A Rank Promotion Exam, the marathon run, was concluded after roughly two hours of continuous running.

Throughout that marathon run, there were a little over thirty participants or so who happened to be disqualified.

Judging by the behavior of the examiners right after the run was over, that situation was highly unexpected.

As to the examiner who was overseeing the marathon run, people were saying that he really overdid it, or that he seemed to be carried away for some unknown reason, or many other things like that.

Now, even though people were saying stuff like that all over the place, there was no way for any of us participants to actually know the details of the situation, or if any of those words were actually true.

Oh well, when it comes to our party, we managed to pass the first test without any kind of problems, so there was no reason for us to be sweating over some minor details like that.

And since we were really tired from all of that two-hours continuous running, we decided to take a short break while we could still do that.

The overseers of the Promotion Exam also seemed to think that the marathon run was a bit too much this year, so they gave all of the people who passed time for some much needed rest before the next test would commence.

[Fuuh, as expected, running like that for two hours straight is really tiring.]

[Good job out there, everyone.]

[Nnh…… Rein, here. Take this.]

Nina then took out a towel and a water bag from the inside of her pocket dimension and offered those to me right away.

[Thank you, Nina.]

[Ehehe.]

In order to thank Nina for her offering I gently patted her on the head, and in response to that Nina’s three fluffy tails started to wag happily.

[Haah…… Haah…… Haah…… I-I did it! I won! Victory is mine!]

[Haah…… Haah…… Haah…… Kuuh! I should have known that it was a stupid idea for me to try and compete against a Cat Spirit Tribe in the contest of pure strength and stamina! …… Or rather, I should feel proud that I was able to keep up with you without falling behind……]

After Kanade and Tanya decided to finally get serious, the two of them went faster and faster, leaving the entire competition far behind. Theirs was quite a beautiful fight to behold, if I was being honest here.

However, since they were giving it their very best for so long, now that the marathon race was finally over they were walking in a really wobbly way, looking really spent and tired.

But even so, they also managed to pass the test without a problem, all the while managing to lap the examiner not once, but three times total, probably setting a new record of some sort.

[…… Epuh……]

[…… Uguh……]

As for Sora and Luna, who spent the entire marathon race piggyback riding on Kanade and Tanya’s backs, their faces were looking very pale and their bodies were almost completely motionless, twitching nervously from time to time as if to let us know that they were still alive.

As expected, both of them were completely out of it. Which was honestly not all that hard to imagine why.

I could only speculate about what they must have gone through during those past two hours, but most probably it was the equivalent of a two hours-long carriage ride on a really bumpy road, if not something even worse than that.

So yeah, it must have been pretty tough for the two of them.

[Sora. Luna. Are you…… okay, guys…….?]

[Aaahh…… Uuuhhh…… No, not really……]

[The sky and the earth…… They are spinning so much…… going round and around…… Ahaha…… Ahahahaha……]

[There, there. Good job, good job.]

[Here, let me fix you right up.]

Seeing the state that Sora and Luna were currently in, Nina and Tina went to tend to them right away.

Now, since it was not Sora and Luna’s fault, but rather Kanade and Tanya’s, we let them rest for the time being, hoping that they would be able to recover enough before the second test would eventually commence.

As for Kanade and Tanya…… Well, those two seemed to be in really good spirits for some reason, so there probably wouldn’t be any problems with them.

After about a half-hour break, the second test was finally about to commence.

We were then guided towards a small square inside of the ruins proper, where a wooden training dummy shaped like a person had been set up in the square’s center.

As for the training dummy, it was a simple thing made out of some ordinary wooden logs that were put together and held in place to resemble a person.

It was that kind of thing that you would often see at weapons shops or knights quarters, mainly used for training purposes or testing out the sharpness and durability of various weapons.

But this training dummy was clearly different from its plain and ordinary counterparts. Because for some reason, this dummy had intricate magical patterns drawn all over its surface.

So my guess here was that even though this thing looked like a simple wooden training dummy, it must have actually been some sort of magic device.

[This thing right here had a special kind of magic cast on it.]

Once again, Cell stood up on top of the stage before everyone gathered and proceeded with an explanation.

[I could explain to you precisely what it is supposed to do, but I do believe that a picture is worth more than a thousand words. So have a look at this.]

After she said that, Cell signaled the examiner who was waiting right next to her with a quick nod of her head.

That other examiner then proceeded to unleash a magic attack onto the wooden training dummy.

It was a simple Fireball spell that hit the wooden training dummy square to the chest.

However, even though the wooden training dummy should have been burned and shattered to pieces, it was still in one piece after the smoke and dirt finally settled.

What’s more, there was now a number “54” displayed right above its head.

[As you can clearly see, this here wooden training dummy was magically enchanted to be able to quantify the damage that it has received, and then display it as a simple number. Your next test is to simply unleash your most powerful attacks onto that training dummy and receive a score that is going to be equal to five hundred or above. Also, it doesn’t really matter if the attack that you are going to use is going to be a physical one or magical one. And of course, this goes without saying, but anyone who is going to be unable to reach the five hundred mark is going to be instantly disqualified.]

Five hundred, huh?

That was the kind of number that was honestly difficult to categorize.

When it comes to my offensive magic, the only spell I have on me is the Basic Level Fireball Spell.
