CHAPTER 35: THE TWIN SPIRIT TRIBE SISTERS AND THE CONTRACT PART 3

「Yes, that’s right…… Alright. If Tanya and Kanade have no objections to this idea, then I don’t see the need to object, either. I mean, you’re more than welcome to join us, if you really want to.」

「Thank you, Rain.」

「Fuahahaha!!! Please take good care of us and all that jazz! Or maybe you would like for me to do something really naughty for you as a sign of friendship?」

「Luna, why are you always like that……!!」

「It was a joke, a joke! Don’t take everything I say at face value, sister! Seriously! I just thought about it, but aren’t you way too uptight when it comes to things like that?」

「Mugugugugh!!!」

I can see that with the addition of Sora and Luna, our party will become much more lively.

Seeing the two sisters frolicking about without a single care in the world, I cannot help it but to think something like that.

「Well then…… Here’s to us getting along!」

「Yes, we are looking forward to working with you!」

「From this day forward, we’re all allies. So let’s look out for one another.」

And just like that, the two members of the Spirit Tribe officially joined our party.

「By the way, Rein?」

「What is it, Sora?」

「Will you sign a contract with us as well?」

「Huh?」

「From what I heard, both Kanade and Tanya have made a contract with you, and you managed to tame them. We want to help you out as well, Rein.」

「If you make up your mind now, you’ll get a whooping twenty percent discount on our naughty services! Whew, what a steal! And you’d better hurry! It’s a limited time offer only!」

「Are you serious about that?」

「Yes, we are serious about that. You’ve been a lot of help to us and…… Well, we think that helping you out in the same way is the least that we can do.」

「…… Hey, are you really going to ignore my joke? Just like that! Buuuh! Rein, you’re so mean! I really tried my best to soothe the atmosphere here by making a clown out of myself, you know!? Well, be that as it may, my feelings are the same as Sora’s. I want to help you as much as I can, Rain.」

「Well, I’m glad that both of you feel that way, but I’m afraid that I cannot grant you your wish…… For you see, I can only tame animals and insects at best. I’m afraid that Spirits are way above my league.」

Apparently, there used to be a job called ‘Elemental Tamer’ who used to be able to tame Spirits in the past……

But when the Spirits disappeared those two hundred years ago, the Elemental Tamer also disappeared naturally alongside them.

However, in my hometown, there was actually a preserved know-how of Elemental Taming.

It seems to have been passed down secretly from father to son, generation to generation.

I had been taught it by friends in the village, but I had never actually mastered it.

That was the explanation that I gave to the entire group, but……

But apparently for Kanade that was hardly going to be an excuse here, for she looked at me as if she wanted to ask “So what?”.

「Well then, why don’t you just give it a try, Rein? Who knows? You might be able to succeed! And then you can keep on preserving that technique for posterity♪!」

「No, no, no, no! Don’t be ridiculous, Kanade True, I happened to learn some of its basics when I was young, but that’s about it. There’s no way I am going to succeed with something like that.」

「But I have a feeling that you can do it, Rein! Don’t you think so too, Tanya?」

「Yeah. I mean, I get a feeling that if Rein cannot do it, then no one else is ever going to be.」

「See? Try as you might, there is no way that you are going to get away with not trying, at the very least……」

「Why don’t you just try it out for the time being?　Don’t be so lame as to give up before you are even going to try something for real.」

If everyone else is saying so, then I guess that I have no other choice but to do it.

「Alright, then let’s give it a try. Sora, Luna. Come here, if you’d please.」

「Yes!」

「Umu!」

The two Spirits then stood side by side in front of me.

I bit my thumb and drew the magic circle with flowing blood on top of my palm.

I then closed my eyes and concentrated.

The way in which the taming process is carried out consists of some basic steps for all races and species out there, which is then modified according to the race that you are trying to tame.

You concoct your Magic Power, speak to the target’s soul, and talk to it with your heart and mind at the same time.

If the other party responds to your call, then the negotiations are completed and the contract is born…… and this is when you know that the taming process ended up in a success.

However, the structure of the Magic Power concocted by each race is vastly different.

It’s like trying to solve a jigsaw puzzle, but every piece is of different shape and size.

If the shape of the Magic Power is wrong, my words won’t reach their souls and the contract will fail.

In order to successfully tame the Spirit Tribe, what kind of structure of Magic Power should be woven?

How much Magic Power do I have to put into this?

I poured all of the experience, skill, and intuition I’ve gained in the past to come up with my own answer to those questions.

「My name is Rein Shroud. I hereby sign a new contract and make a new connection. With an oath in my heart, with hope in my mind, with power in my hands. Answer me: what is thy name?」

「…… Sora……」

「…… Luna……」

The magic circle became particles of bright light and was sucked into Sora and Luna’s bodies.

As for the contract…… It was successfully established.

「Huh, won’t you look at that? It seems that everything managed to work out in the end, somehow.」

「You did it, Rain! That’s what I’m talking about! That’s our Master for you!」

「Well, not that I was worried about it, or anything like that. I had faith that Rein could do it.」

「It only worked out by a sheer miracle. If you asked me to do it again, I probably wouldn’t be able to do it.」

「Really now?　I feel like Rein would make it work again and again and again, for whatever reason.」

「Yes, I agree. I’m sure that you would be able to successfully tame other species as well, with little trouble. For example…… Yes! Fish!」

「Well, I haven’t really mastered that taming either, but I have at least taken a crash course when it comes to the basics.」

「「What!? So there is one!? Fish taming!?」」

Both Kanade and Tanya seemed to be shocked by my answer just now.

Now, be that as it may……

「Phew…… But in all seriousness, I’m really tired.」

Perhaps because of the recklessness of making a contract with the Spirit Tribe, and two Spirits at that, I was feeling a tremendous amount of fatigue building up inside of me.

It seems that I’ve consumed a large amount of Magic Power in order to pull it off, and I felt terribly tired because of that.

If I hadn’t made a contract with Tanya and hadn’t had my Magic Power raised to the absolute extreme, I really might have been in danger here.

While I was letting my mind wander like that, I felt that my legs no longer had the strength to support my body and I started to visibly shake.

Then, both Sora and Luna moved to my left and right to support me and prevent me from falling down.

「From now on, Rein is Sora’s Master, is that right?」

「This means that you are free to do all sorts of things to us now! Like THIS, and THIS, and THAT, for example!」

「LUNA!!!」

「Oh my, oh my? My dear sister, why is your face so incredibly red? Just what kind of naughty and indecent things were you imagining just now? Kufufufufuh! You’re so lewd, aren’t you?」

「Want me to get REALLY angry at you!?」

「Come on now, it was a joke, a joke! Seriously, don’t take everything I say at face value! Oh well, whatever.」

Sora and Luna then both looked at me at the same time and smiled.

「Here’s to a fruitful and beneficial work from now on, Master……♪」

「It’s a pleasure to be working with you. Master♪」
