CHAPTER 41: THE PROMISED HAPPENING PART 1

「NYAAH! FUNYAAAHHH!!!!!!」

「Kanade!?」

All of a sudden, I heard a loud scream coming from the direction of the lake.

It was a scream so loud that it even managed to wake me up from my nap, even though I dozed off quite well.

There was no response from the small animals that I had on patrol around the lake’s premises.

So, does that mean that something ended up happening at the lake itself?

「Ahhh, not good! Now is not the time for thinking! Now is the time for action!」

I got up from the ground and I started running towards the lake as fast as I could.

Kanade and Tanya.

Sora and Luna.

Everyone, I hope that you are safe and unharmed!

While I was running I was muttering that honest prayer in my heart over and over again, but unfortunately……

At this point I had forgotten about one small, but really crucial detail.

Just like that, I managed to arrive at the lakeside so fast that it almost seemed like an instant transition.

「Everyone! What’s wrong!? What happened!? Are you alright!?」

「「「「Huh?」」」」

Once I arrived on the scene, I could see all four of my companions, completely naked from head to toe, and they looked back at me with expressions of sheer shock and disbelief on their faces.

…… Ah.

…… Oh, yeah. Come to think of it, the four of them were in the middle of taking their bath, right?

For some reason Kanade’s scream got me so alarmed and worked up that this fact managed to completely slip out of my mind. And now that I have come to realize it, my body just froze up on the spot.

As for the girls, they were all frozen stiff and speechless as well, probably having trouble with understanding why I appeared right in front of them while they were still in the middle of their bathing.

As to just how stunned they were, it was on the level where they were not even trying to hide their water-dripping skin from my eyes.

Meanwhile, Kanade’s tail was twitching and swaying.

At the very tip of it, there was a fish, as if it has taken a bite out of it.

Apparently, the scream I heard earlier was due to the fact that the fish had bitten into Kanade’s tail, causing her to react so frantically to it.

After a long and embarrassing moment, I was actually the one who came back to my senses first.

「…… I-I’M SORRY!」

In front of me, there were numerous skin-colored body parts that were dangerous for me to look at.

And so, I hurriedly looked away from them, and turned around as soon as possible.

「Umm, you see…… I heard Kanade scream and I thought something must have happened, so I just rushed here without thinking…… I should have thought better about the situation and what was going on. I’m really sorry for it!」

I have to leave here, and leave fast.

And so, I left the lakeside, sweating like some sort of a pervert, and then……

「「「「…… ~~~~~~!?!?!?!?!?」」」」

I heard four inarticulate and loud screams coming from behind my back.

Really, I am so, so sorry for this……

…… About thirty minutes later.

「Nya, nyah…… Rein, you pervert.」

Kanade and the other girls, who had returned from the lake after finishing their bath, had their cheeks dyed vermilion from embarrassment.

As for Kanade, she turned her zit eyes towards me, wagging her tail in a restless manner.

「Once again, I am really sorry for that. This might sound like an excuse, and it is, but I really meant no harm by that. I had no ill intentions there.」

「Hm? Is that so? Really now? And are you REALLY sure that you weren’t just hoping to get lucky and witness all of us while we were naked? How about that, Rein?」

Understandably, Tanya also seemed to be really angry with me here.

The way in which she looked at me was so sharp that for a moment out there I thought that it was a pair of daggers poking at my body.

「Hmm…… Fumu, fumu. I guess that we can safely assume that my sister dearest is going to be useless for a while now. My, oh my, talk about trouble. Like, huge trouble, Rein.」

When it comes to Sora, she was so confused by the current situation that she did not know how exactly she should handle it, and she completely shut down as a result.

On the other hand, Luna was surprisingly calm and unflappable by this entire situation.

But if I am to be completely honest, that calm and composed demeanor of hers is what scares me the most.

I know. I have done something outrageous. I know that.

Even though I did not have the intention to do so, I ended up peeking at the girls while they were bathing in peace and quiet.

…….. Normally, after an experience like that, I know that I would not be able to trust a man who did something like that ever again if I were them.

I think that we have been getting along reasonably well up until now, but I think that right now all the trust that the girls managed to have in me has been broken all at once, never to return.

I guess that because of this incident, us staying together as a party might become increasingly more difficult.

And in the worst case scenario, the party might even fall apart and disband completely…… It is a slight possibility, but a possibility nonetheless.

「I’m sorry! I really am! I will do whatever it takes for you all to forgive me for my transgression! So please!」

「Nyan……? Anything, you say?」

After hearing my bold proclamation, Kanade’s eyes started to glow with bewitching light.

「Anything? Is that right? Are you seriously going to do anything just so that you can earn our forgiveness?」

「…… As long as it is something that is going to be within my capacity, yes.」

「Hmm, is that so…… Of course, I hope that you realize that you can’t back away after saying something like that?」

Tanya also joined in on the conversation.

「Awawawawawawawa…… Sora’s naked body…… was witnessed by Rein…… S-Since it has come to this, I guess that Sora and Rein will have to be together from now on…… There is no other way out of this situation…… Sora can’t become a bride in any other way……」

「Whoa there, sister dearest! I can see that your delusions are getting more and more out of hand there! But still, I am quite curious as to how far you can take those delusions and act on them, I’m not going to lie……」

I can see that Sora and Luna are going with the same routine as they were doing just a moment ago.

「If you are really going to take it as far as being ready to do anything for us……」
