CHAPTER 50 PART 3

I then just so happened to remember the conversation I had with the two of them not so while ago.

What was the exact power that I might have gained from signing a contract with both Sora and Luna, the members of the Spirit Tribe?

It was not a tremendous boost to my Magic Power.

It was not the fact that I was able to learn some new, stronger or more advanced spells.

But if that was the case, then……

「…………….」

I tried to focus my mind and thought of a certain Magic Structural Formula.

Then, all of a sudden, a structural formula that has never been seen before popped into my mind.

But it was not the new magic spell, but rather something that would apply change to the already existing formulas in my mind…… the kind of structural formula that would add a certain twist to the Fireball spell.
　
「…… Sora, Luna. There’s one thing I want to try here. But if it fails, I would like to leave this situation to you two.」

「………Okay. Rain, do your best, and if you do not succeed, you can just leave it all to us!」

「Yeah! I don’t really understand what’s going on, but we are going to take care of the rest! So do your best!」

「Thank you.」

I then exchanged glances with both of them really quickly.

Yes, there was definitely a feeling of trust that I could sense coming from both of them.

「Oi, what’s the matter? Are you going to keep that cheeky mouth of yours shut?　Or could it be that cat got your tongue? How long are you going to stay that way? If you don’t give me an answer quickly and do what I said, you’re going to have the blood of all of those innocent people on your hands, I hope that you do realize that?」

Edgar said my way, looking all impatient and irritated.

「…… Alright then. Here is our answer.」

「…… Yes? And that answer is……?」

「I’d rather die in a fire than do as you say. That’s our answer.」

I then instantly build a magical structural formula inside of my mind.

And then I added that newly discovered formula to it.

Now, the only thing that was left for me to do, was to unleash that newly created spell.

「“Fireball Multi-Shot”!」

In the next moment, multiple fireballs were created in the air all around me and scattered in all directions.

The Continuous Chanting.

The ability to unleash multiple copies of one spell at the same time.

Yes! I was actually able to pull this off!

So this is the power that I happened to receive from making a contract with Sora and Luna!

「What the……!?」

「Gyaah!?」

「Guaaahhh!?」

The fireballs struck the soldiers who were holding their swords against the people with great impact all at once.

Although I tried to narrow down the power of each and every single Fireball so as to not hurt the hostages by accident. But still, if you were to suffer a direct hit from a Fireball like that, you were sure to not get out of this ordeal unscathed.

The soldiers were knocked down in one fell swoop as a result of the Fireball assault, rolling on the ground and writhing in agony and pain.

「Impossible!? That’s nonsense! Unleashing a bunch of magic spells at the same time?　How could that even be possible…!?」

Seeing that scene unfold in front of his very eyes, Edgar seemed to be surprised, but as for me, I had no obligation or duty to actually explain to him what just happened and how it came to be.

And while Edgar was still dumbstruck and frozen in place, I picked up one of the swords that the soldiers dropped on the ground, and held it to Edgar’s throat.

「…… So? What’s it going to be? Do you still want to continue?」

「Kuh……!」

「Order your soldiers to retreat and get out of here. And I don’t want to see your face in here ever again.」

「Y-You plebeian bastard! I am going to remember this! I won’t forget this humiliation!」

「…… And again with cliched one-liners. At the very least you could try and put some twist into those lines, to make them more original.」

「Don’t ever think that this is over here! I always get my hands on the things that I want! And this time is going to be no different! You can be sure of that!」

Edgar glared at me with hatred and annoyance in his eyes, and then…….

He left the scene in a hurry on his own, leaving all of his fallen and unconscious subordinates behind where they laid.

「Alright, for the time being, I think we managed to get by somehow……」’

Thinking about this whole mess right now when it was all over, I might actually gotten myself into a whole lot of trouble, way messier than this entire scene.

However, even if that was going to be the case, I don’t regret it. Not even one bit.

「Sora, Luna, are you guys okay?」

I was able to protect Sora and Luna…… I was able to protect my precious friends and companions.

Not to mention that I was able to protect all those innocent people that got dragged into this whole mess because they were at the wrong place at the wrong time.

I am sure that if I were to encounter a similar situation, I wouldn’t hesitate to make the same choice all over again, without even having to think about it.

「Rein, thank you very much. You did something like that and it was only because you wanted to protect us.」

「Yeah, thanks a lot, Rein! Boy, am I glad that you were with us here today!」

「But even so, I must say that I’m really surprised. For Rein to be able to inherit a special skill of the Spirit Tribe as a part of our contract like that……」

「I guess that this is our Rein for you! A man who is going to constantly defy all the expectations that you might have for him, and doing it so effortlessly!」

「But Sora…… Sora also has a very high opinion about Rein, you know?」

「Nah, I’m sorry, Sister Dearest, but when it comes to the respect department, I’m clearly the superior one here.」

「No, Sora is the one who has more respect for Rein!」

「No, it’s me!」

「It’s me!」

「It’s me!」

The two of them started to fight over something I didn’t actually understand all that well, but at the very least they were smiling while doing it.

However, this is not the time to actually rest and let out a sigh of relief.

I have to go back to the inn and talk with Kanade and Tanya about the future, and whatever it is that we want to do from now on.
