Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 54 Part 3
CHAPTER 54 PART 3
In the future, I get a feeling that Gantz-san might grow into a tremendous armor and weapon craftsman. Without a shred of a doubt!
「……………」
For starters, I decided to get myself a dagger that would feel the most comfortable while resting in my hand.
I then loosened my belt a little bit and stowed the dagger away behind it, to see how it would feel there.
Then I decided to wait for a little while until Gantz-san would return to the front of the workshop……
「I’m sorry for keeping you waiting.」
Gantz-san appeared from the back of the workshop shortly after with a pair of gauntlets in his hands.
「This is……..」
I was able to tell that at the first glance.
It was a first-class piece of artisanal weaponry that had the entire soul of the craftsman who forged it put into it.
「It is a specially-made piece of weaponry made specially for you, Rein. There is nothing else quite like this in this entire world. A one-of-a-kind thing. As for its name, hmm , let’s see…… How about “Narukami”? How does that sound?」
「Narukami….」
「Come on now, let me show you how to use that thing properly.」
Gantz-san then helped me to wear the gauntlets on my hands.
My fingers, my wrists, my arms…… The gauntlets were so fitting onto my arms that none of their parts interfered or hindered my movements. Not even a little bit.
And yet, even though this was supposed to be a foreign object, the gauntlets felt so natural, as if they were a natural part of my arms. Or as if they were always there, where they belonged.
Once again, I have come to understand that I have been given a wonderful piece of equipment in the form of those gauntlets, something that no amount of money could ever hope to buy me.
I can’t believe that Gantz-san really provided me with something like this……
Maybe it was stupid or immature of me, but seeing those things I felt like a small child that just happened to receive a new toy from his parents.
「Alright then, are you listening, lad? First of all, let’s go over the features that you asked me for in this thing……」
Gantz-san then started the lecture about the functionality of the gauntlet, something that lasted for half an hour, if not even longer.
After he was done and I had a firm grasp on all of the gauntlets’ functionalities, I left the workshop completely satisfied.
I guess that with this business having been all taken care of, we were finally all ready to go.
***
And then…… the night came before we even knew it.
We exited the inn and I took everyone to meet up with Stella at the designated place.
That place was at the outskirts of the town…… right in front of a warehouse that was now unused by anyone and pretty much abandoned.
We then lurked in the shadows some distance away from the warehouse as we moved to meet up with each other.
「I’m sorry for keeping you waiting.」
「No problem. This person here is Kanade, and…… who the other three might be?」
「They are the rest of my companions. The five of us form one party.」
「I’m Tanya. Nice to meet you.」
「I’m Sora. It’s nice to meet you.」
「Hahaha! My name is Luna! You’d do well to remember that name! Oh, and pleased to be working with you, I guess.」
「I’m Stella Emplace. It’s a pleasure to meet you all.」
Stella then bowed her head politely as she briefly introduced herself.
At first glance, Tanya and the others looked like normal girls, with nothing really indicating that they were the members of the Ultimate Species.
But even so, Stella could still bow her head to them without hesitation and problem.
I could feel that Stella’s personality was really showing through in moments just like those.
「As for you, Stella-sama…… You brought six other people with you?」
Yes, in addition to Stella, five other knights were accompanying her, standing right behind her.
「I’m sorry, but…… Those are the only people I could rope into this at such a short notice. But I trust them with my life, so there is no need to worry about their loyalty.」
「No, I can’t really blame you for that. In fact, it’s better if that’s all you have. To put it bluntly, at first I thought that you might come here all alone with no support at all, Stella. I’m sorry for that.」
「It’s nice to hear you say that. Not that I can’t exactly understand where that came from.」
「Rein, Rein!」
With a slight chomp, Kanade tugged at my clothes.
「I can hear footsteps incoming. A whole lot of them.」
Personally, I couldn’t hear anything at all.
But if Kanade, the member of the Cat Spirit tribe, says so, then it must be true.
It seems that our prey has been caught in our trap, without actually suspecting a thing.
「……………」
Before long, we were able to hear the sound of heavy footsteps echoing in the distance, causing the ground to shake a little bit.
Soon after that, a large number of knights emerged from the darkness of the night, getting closer and closer towards us.
I don’t know the exact number, and I wasn’t going to count now, but there must have been at least a few dozen of them.
With us still remaining hidden and the knights failing to notice our presence, they have split into two smaller groups.
One group of the knights spread out around the warehouse’s perimeter, acting as lookout in case someone who shouldn’t be here at this hour would try to approach, while the other group of knights rushed into the interior of the warehouse without wasting even a single moment.
If you were some random citizen witnessing this scene from the side, having no idea what was actually going on here you could even think that the Knights Order was maybe conducting some sort of a late-night maneuver or perhaps a late-night drill.
However, we were more than perfectly aware that this was actually not the case here.
They must have been sure that they managed to corner me and my comrades, but it was actually the other way around — it was them who were walking right into our trap.
「Now then, I guess we should be getting that cleanup operation started, huh?」
