Chapter 44 Part 1
How To Enjoy You First Seafood Dishes And A Sudden Encounter
Sybilla leans out of the window and looks at the city of Seiris.
Emmy and I followed her and looked down at the city from the window as well.
「…..Wow.」
Looking at the sea is nice too, but being able to look at the whole city from up here is just as incredible.
It’s a beautiful, developed city, which is very different from Hammond.
From this inn, we can enjoy a panoramic view of the small mountain in the distance and the all-white houses lining up along the harbor.
All of the houses have blue-colored roofs, giving it a very refreshing feel.
「To maintain the prestige of the city, they’re making everything in the city with a uniform color scheme. Isn’t it beautiful?」
「Wow~ it’s so beautiful! This city is so amazing!」
Emmy was also looking outside the window and expressed her admiration, to which I nodded silently in agreement.
「And then, our destination is that place over there!」
Sybilla said while pointing her finger.
「Where…?」
「Look, it’s the square building near that round thing!」
「 There are a lot of building that matches your description so I can’t tell which is which.」
「…That’s true… The beauty of the buildings’ uniformity is great, but it’s certainly hard to tell them apart…」
Sybilla’s shoulders slumped at the unexpected weakness of this uniformed city, but she quickly recovered, took a step back, and clapped her hands.
「But well, you’ll see a stylish sign once we get closer to it, so we’ll be fine. And the time is just right, so let’s go there right away.」
Sybilla tossed the backpack she was carrying onto the bed and briefly checked the weapon that was still hanging on her waist before we left the room together.
「As for equipment, you should bring your sword with you, Russell. And for Emmy-chan… you should be alright with your bare hands, right? Or rather, I guess it’s better if you don’t go with your full equipment, huh.」
「As expected that’s not something that I’d take with me to a meal…」
Emmy is using my sword right now. It’s the large mithril-coated Dragon Fang sword we got from the blacksmith.
I thought, if it’s Emmy, she would be able to use that sword to its fullest potential.
As for myself, I preferred the first sword I bought because it felt more comfortable in my hand.
In addition, we also decided to hand the giant shield made by the Dwarves from the Fire Dragon material to Emmy.
It’s simply because it fits with Emmy’s Job and with her strength, she would be able to wield a shield with that size easily. Besides, it would just end up collecting dust since none of us can use it except Emmy.
「Quarrel among adventurers is strictly prohibited here, and since one can simply tell who did it first if such a problem arises, there’s no need to carry such excessive equipment.」
「To think that it can even accurately grasp such information, this adventurer tag sure is handy, huh…」
「It really is, isn’t it~? …Well, let’s leave it at that. Still, there are pickpockets and such, so you must at least have a weapon with you regardless. Also, be careful not to have your weapon stolen.」
I see. We never had problems with those, back when we were still in Hammond, but it might be because Jannet was looking out for us. It would be hard to believe she doesn’t have any knowledge regarding that.
……Really, I wish I had the chance to thank Jannet a little more.
Perhaps, with the way Vince is now, the party wouldn’t even be able to run properly if it weren’t for Jannet.
I’m a bit worried about Jannet because Emmy came here, but… in this regard, I want to respect Emmy’s choice to ultimately decide to leave the party to fight alongside me.
Other than that, is… well, it’s my selfish desire to stay with Emmy.
We enjoyed taking a look around the city once again as we followed behind Sybilla.
There are rows of fish that I have seen from time to time too back at Hammond, and there are also rows of what look like black insects-like things, but… Do the people in this city eat those too?
「Shrimps sure are delicious, aren’t they~?」
「How should I know?」
「You’ve spent a lot of time in Hammond, didn’t you? Have you never eaten that much seafood there?」
「I’ve only been in Hammond for half a year since forming the Heroes Party with Vince and the others. And maybe because Hammond is located inland, the closest thing I’ve had to seafood there is the fish from the river.」
Emmy nodded at my words as if agreeing with me. Well, we spent our time in the same party after all, so it’s not surprising that she had the same response.
As if she had thought of something after seeing our responses, the corners of Sybilla’s mouth lifted into a very nice smile while nodding a few times, and started walking off again in front of us.
……While I’m looking forward to whatever that was, at the same time, considering her personality and her expression just now which can only be described as the smile of the 『Mischievous Goddess』, I must say it’s a bit frightening.
I’ve been to something called a restaurant back in Hammond.
So I was wondering if we would see something similar to that, but……!
「A-Amazing… This place is on a completely different level!」
It’s only natural that Emmy would be surprised.
I was thinking we would get something like a course-style meal where meat and other items were placed on a white ceramic plate like the ones we had at Hammond.
In the restaurant there, the waiter and waitress would come out with silver plates piled with food, which they would then arrange neatly on the tables.
「So you see, this place is the type of restaurant where, after you pay once, you are free to take and eat to your heart’s content!」
「So it’s like a self-service thing like in the inns?」
「Right~ right~ it’s a self-service!」
I had seen self-service type meals at inns, but they only provided bread, soup, and water, so you could eat even when there was no waiter around.
But this restaurant is so different in scale.
Various types of food that look like you ordered everything from the menu in the restaurant at Hammond were lined up and each of them looks so much better compared to the one at inns.
「Hey~ Onii-san, give me a table for three please!」
「Aiyo!」
Sybilla quickly completed the payment on her own and received something that looked like a necklace from the waiter.
「This is a tag that’s used as proof of your self-service right in this restaurant. Hang it around your neck and take it out when you’re done eating.」
「I see, got it!」
Emmy took one of the tags in her hand, stood on her toes, and wrapped one around my neck.
「T-Thanks.」
「You’re welcome…」
After returning my thanks, Emmy stared at me with a gaze full of expectancy. Sigh… I know, I know.
When I put the other tag around her neck, she looks so happy and laughs, although I don’t know what she’s so happy about. But well, it’s good to see her happy.
As I was looking at such Emmy, a sudden shock ran from on top of my head——!
「Ow! Wh-What!?」
There stood Sybilla with a slightly disappointed look on her face.
「”What”, you say. Even though we came here to eat and enjoy our meal, why are the two of you getting immersed in your own world, huh? …How’s that for “what”, hm?」
Sybilla then brought down the thing that she hit my head with and thrust it onto my chest.
It was a pretty worn-out, big silver plate.
「Put the food you want to eat on this plate. Understand?」
「Y-Yeah, got it… sorry, and thanks.」
Finally realizing what was going on, I took the plate from Sybilla. I could even hear the female customers nearby giggling as they watched us.
……I admit, that was totally my fault.
By the way, Emmy, on the other hand, is still frozen with a bright red face.
