After looking around a bit more we got busy.
We proceeded to finalize the contract with Will-san and managed to get his permission to stay in the mansion for the night. Because of that, Sakura and I returned to town with Will-san to buy cleaning supplies, yard maintenance supplies, and cooking supplies. I also bought some ingredients before returning to the mansion.
I left the task of cleaning up the mansion and checking the furniture to the girls and headed out to the garden to weed it for the day.
Sistina had made dinner, but since the kitchen wasn’t fully restored, she could only make a simple meal. She seemed dissatisfied by that fact, but I thought the meal tasted delicious enough.
After our meal we gathered in the living room and used Hotaru-san’s light magic to continue looking around the mansion and making a list of the things that needed to be bought and repaired.
Chairs, dressers, and tables were left behind and seemed usable, but the higher quality items like sofas had been taken away so I decided we should buy new ones.
There were many various odds and ends that each of us wanted personally for our areas, so I gave permission to open our pocketbooks in celebration of our new home.
Furthermore, this used to be the villa of the Town Lord so there were plenty of devices that used magic stones. Of course, those magic stones had been removed when the Lord moved out and I assumed that getting new ones would be very expensive.
Making a list of the minimum necessary magic stones we came up with this. First the kitchen would need 3 fire stones to use in the stove and one water stone for the sink. There were also two toilets so we would need two more water stones. Each room including the kitchen, living room, and dining room needed quite a few light stones. However, light stones were expensive since light magic itself was fairly rare and precious. Because of that we decided to only buy the bare minimum of these. Either way, I had the issue where I cannot emit magic power so I couldn’t even turn these magic stone devices on or off. For that reason, we needed to have more common tools like lanterns and such for my use.
Once bedtime rolled around, we couldn’t use the beds. The frames had been left here, but the mattresses and futons had been removed. I had to give up on my nightly fun (despite feeling as if I would cough up blood) and simply go to sleep hugging Sistina in our camping blanket.
Hotaru-san and Sakura felt the bed was too hard to sleep on so they simply returned to their katana forms and slept like that.
The next morning Will-san came over with two carpenters and informed us they were here to restore the house and modify the backyard. Thankfully they seemed like good people and one of them immediately called their apprentices to start the construction work.
I handed over our list of requirements to Will-san and simply left the cost and quality up to him.
However, the one thing I demanded of him immediately was to prepare a large bed with the best mattress and blanket he could by the end of the day.
I refused to miss my ‘healing’ time again. It was simply the highlight of my day.
After that we continued our activities from the day before. I continued to weed the garden with the grass scythe, but Hotaru-san said it was an opportunity to train my techniques, so I had to do that while moving on my tip toes without letting my hips drop. My exhaustion by the end of that was no joke.
As the evening rolled around the bed I had been waiting for arrived, and so we placed it in the biggest room on the 2nd floor that we had chosen for a bedroom.
That night I was laid up with extreme muscle pain and couldn’t move from pain, so I had the three of them do their best on top. The view of their twin mountains swaying atop me was truly incredible. The feeling of using such a large bed with space to spare was also amazing. I think I’ll ask for this kind of thing from time to time in the future as well.
The next day we continued to instruct the carpenters and bring in new furniture, in my spare time I weeded the garden. Once evening rolled around, I could see I was nearing completion, but realized…that maybe I could have had Sakura deal with this all at once using fire magic…
I then asked her and in 20 seconds Sakura used 『Katon: Fire Running』 to completely clean up the rest of the weeds that were left…
It was also on this day that our kitchen was completely restored to full functionality. Sistina put her all into buying ingredients and showed off the full cooking specs of an Acolyte.
Hors d’oeuvres, soup, stew, meat, seafood, and dessert…
I never thought I’d eat a meal greater than a full course back on Earth. These dishes were amazing, they not only tasted delicious but looked amazing as well.
Sistina seemed extremely happy when I said so, but she also warned that this much was impossible to do everyday while looking away cutely.
On the fourth day we had mostly finished cleaning the mansion interior, so Sistina and Sakura joined me in cleaning up the backyard.
Sistina wanted a small portion of the backyard to be a vegetable garden and flower bed, so she chose a location that wouldn’t get in the way of the onsen and we helped her dig up the soil. We mixed it together with the weeds we dug up so they would act as fertilizer as well.
Sometimes we took breaks with the carpenters as well as the work continued. Sistina would sometimes hand out cold water to them and some rimple chips to thank them for their hard work. It was nice that it improved their motivation and made them work faster.
It was also impressive that Sakura ended up getting along really well with the carpenters as well.
Recently Hotaru-san had been training by herself quite a lot. It seems that her loss the other day had frustrated her. She said she would be exploring the possibilities within light magic, so I think she’ll show some results eventually.
The food plot and flower bed were finished within 3 days. We had gotten seeds from Will-san and planted them, all that was left was to wait for them to grow.
On the 7th day the carpenters seemed to have finished the work much faster than expected. It was a result of their pace increasing every time they took advantage of the free meals and refreshments my three wives gave them. Our house repairs and onsen construction were completed.
