Fiancée of the Wizard Volume 8 Chapter 7 Part 2
It was a little too unsuitable for the current season. Moreover, I had told him many times that it did not go well with his nice outfit today. I had repeatedly, in the end almost begged him to do so. However, Estrella only lowered his eyebrows as if troubled. He did not change his mind. In the end, I was the one that compromised and accepted his only wish for the ordination ceremony. As expected, the man, my husband laughed and said, 「you should give up」. It is really regrettable.
「Hey, are you still saying such things? 」
At least I should have made him a much nicer scarf. This was not the first time I was regretting this. Meanwhile, I heard a familiar beautiful voice. I lifted my face that I had been facing downcast before I knew it. There was the man, who had an exasperated expression on his familiar but beautiful face that was unworldly and which I did not get tired of.

「Ah, Edi」
In this big festival, the man was invited as the main guest of honor. He was wearing the robe of the Black Lotus Court on top of his ceremonial outfit. He was standing there. Still saying such things. Undoubtedly, he was talking about Estrella scarf.
Well, even if you say so. Before I could refute so, the man turned his morning glow colored eyes to Estrella.
「It is almost time. Have you readied your heart? 」
「I, I am alright」
Awkwardly, Estrella nodded. The man shrugged his shoulders and said, 「really huh」. The reason why the man being the main guest of honor and Estrella the main actors were both here is no other than for me. I had gotten permission from the princess to be here up till just before the commencement. I had been making full use of her permission. However, the man had said 「almost time」. That meant that it was really almost time. Then, thinking this, I stood up.
「Before that, Edi, Estra. Could do guys do me a favor」
「What? 」
「What happened, mother? 」
Both of them tilted their heads as if confused. At their very similar gestures, I could not help but laugh. Then, from the large paper bag that I had been placing beside my chair, I took out the something I had prepared for this day.
「Here you go. This is a crown of flowers from me. Please accept it」
I could not prepare it for the man last year, and it was the first time preparing it for Estrella this time. If I did not put in extra effort this year, when would I do so? It was a piece I was very proud of, woven by various flowers. The man and Estrella looked at each other. Then they both nodded. At this, I tiptoed and place a flower crown on each of their heads. Hm-hm, even with self-bias, it was well made.
While I continued nodding by myself, suddenly, there was a huge roar. When I turned around, the main church’s balcony already had the main guests of honor including the hero, the captain of the knight guards, and Widnichol. They were waving their hands at the crowd. Considering such popularity, surely they would not just stand there next year, but the following years to come. The man noticed this as well and sighed as if depressed.
I express my condolences. I muttered at the back of my mind. While I kept on observing the balcony, the hero and others who had been waving at the crowd separated to the sides of the balcony so that the altar could be better seen. Was this, no, I did not need to guess. Thinking as so, I ran to the railing and leaned against it. The man called me as if scolding me, saying 「hey」. However, I could not afford to care.
That was because, at least for this moment, I could not remain obedient. In the direction of my gaze in front of the balcony’s altar appeared the princess. She was wearing a beautiful pure white dress.
On top of her whitish silver hair that was not tied up and flowed behind her back was a beautiful yet detailed circlet. It was whitish silver and was made by gems and precious stones of various colors, and looked like a crown of flowers. It was as if the goddess herself had appeared on earth. I sighed with awe.
Yes. The main host of this year’s festival is not Sir Heathrow like last year or Sir Klanven. It was princess Clementine herself.
The festival was also the showcase of the guardian of the holy maiden princess. Apparently, the grand church’s priests had unanimously decided that: the princess was more than worthy of the role of the main host of such a festival——that was a superficial excuse. Actually, Sir Heathrow and Sir Klanven were busy dealing with the priest in question who went out of control and his subordinates, as well as other priests from the main church who had worked with him. They did not have time to spare for the role of the main host of the big festival. Hence, the role of the main host came to the princess who had fortunately escaped from her work. 「It just means that the others dumped such cumbersome work to me」. The princess had sighed in the tea session earlier.
While I looked intently at the princess, I heard the man behind me calling Estrella.
「Hey, Estra」
「F, father. I do think we should stop…… 」
「Are you still complaining? Don’t you know that this person would not care about such things? 」
「Sure, perhaps. But it is so messy」
「——Estrella」
The man now called Estrella by his official name, not his nickname. I sensed a sticky situation and turned around. There, the man and Estrella were glaring at each other. What happened?
When I tilted my head, as if he made up his mind, Estrella offered me the thing that he had been hiding from me ever since entering the room.
「Oh……? 」
In his hand was a crown of flowers that was woven with white daisies and common yellow wood sorrels. While I blinked, Estrella looked down, and started talking.
「Um, father told me that mother likes this flower so. It was off-season, so father used magic to make these flowers blossom. Then, I had, made it, but」
Gradually, Estrella words got softer. I understood why upon looking at the crown of flowers. He had said earlier on that it was messy. Ah, I understand now. Certainly, the crown of flowers in his hand was not that well made. However, what was that?
「Thank you, I am very……really happy」
When I told him so, Estrella lifted his head suddenly. He widened his eyes as if surprised. Then, his face scrunched up as if he was about to cry. I thought, I keep on making him make such a face, huh. Nonetheless, at least for now, I shall forgive myself because his face is not due to sadness, but happiness.
Ah, I am so happy. Perhaps he had made a crown of flowers for me for perhaps the first time. I was unbearably happy at his thoughts.
「Could you place it on my head? 」
I crouched down in front of Estrella. Then, he fearfully placed the crown of flowers that were a blend of white and yellow colors. I giggled a little. Estrella reddened his face and smiled in a clumsy way.
Patting Estrella’s head, the man opened his thin lips.
「Now then, it is time already. Let’s go」
「Oh. Is Edi not going to give me a crown of flowers? 」
I did not expect much. However, I could not help but say so. Besides, these days, this man was insanely busy. On top of his usual workload, he had put in much effort to become the supervisor of Estrella and to welcome him as his adopted child. He had work hard to this day, even sacrificing his sleep and mealtime. What else could I desire from this man? I did not mind if he did not have any crown of flowers. Helping Estrella prepare the crown of flowers was enough. Yet, it was no other than my selfishness that led to my question.
I could not help but think, 「my question was a mistake」. The man did not answer my question. Instead, his arms wrapped around my waist. Then, I felt a warm and soft sensation on my forehead. While I blinked in his arms, the man smiled.
「Sorry but, this is my crown of flowers for this year. If that is not enough, I shall give you so much you would become tired of it, after the ceremony. That is why please endure with just this for now」
Even though it was in front of Estrella, the man did so without any hesitation. I felt my face reddening.
「Oh, Edi」
「Oh. As I had thought, is one time not enough? 」
The man questioned me rudely. I fell silent at this. His way of asking was cheating. Of course, my answer to the question, whether I had could endure just having one or not was.
「……No, of course not. Thank you very much」
At my answer, the man smiled as if satisfied. Estrella made a face as if he was exasperated.
Then, the man’s favorite wand appeared on his hand. Apparently, it was actually time. Well, that was a matter of course. Even the princess had already appeared at the main church’s balcony. The man who is the royal head magician and the world’s hero, as well as Estrella who is the other main actor for today should not be here for long. That is, even if they are worried about my health. That was why I smiled from the bottom of my heart as if pushing their backs.
「Have a great time, you two」
After waiting for me to finish saying so, the man’s wand’s magical sphere gleamed, and the two disappeared from in front of me.
Once again, there was a loud roar. When I looked at the main church’s balcony, the man who had been here just a moment ago was standing beside the hero. When the princess glanced at the man, the man nodded once. Then, he raised the wand in his hand up high. The magical sphere at the wand’s tip gleamed brightly in a morning glow color. When I thought the light had gathered in front of the altar the princess was standing on, in a matter of one blink, Estrella appeared there. The boy who appeared in front of the crowd for the first time was very beautiful and proud. At this boy’s appearance, all the masses who had been observing the balcony roared.
Estrella bent his knee in front of the princess. The princess nodded in a visible way. Then, she said something. Then, Estrella’s body started gleaming with a whitish silver color. The holy light did not lose to the golden sunlight that poured onto the balcony. The holy light wrapped the balcony, then eventually took form.
There was a beautiful huge whitish silver wolf.
No one screamed. No one could even afford to do so. The capital that had been so lively suddenly quietened in front of this beautiful holy presence. Everyone gulped and looked at this sight. Meanwhile, the princess smiled mercifully like a goddess. The silver wolf bowed down in a revering way towards the princess.
———!
As if an explosion happened, suddenly the crowd roared. May there be glory to our living gem princess, our holy maiden princess. May there be much blessing to the princess’s beautiful guardian. Such voices came from all around.
While I was looking intently at this sight, the man suddenly looked toward me. Although there was quite some distance between the man and me, I surely sensed that we locked eyes. I did not know which of us laughed first.
The man had been expressionless the whole time until that point. At his warm, gentle, and mellow smile, the masses quietened for a moment, and then roared ever more loudly. It seemed that the captain of the knight unit noticed the change in the man’s expressions quicker than anybody, because he poked the man’s head. The hero and Widnichol laughed. The princess shrugged her shoulders slightly.
They fooled around without caring about the public looking at them. In front of them, Estrella in the form of the huge silver wolf howled loudly towards the heavens. It was not a curse that caused fear or chaos, but a blessing that invited joy and peace.
As if in concord to his howl, the princess spread her hands wide. A light was born from her white, graceful hands. The beautiful and gentle light poured around the capital, and flowers that were decorated all over the place blossomed. Once again, the crowd cheered.
As if being guided by such cheer, I looked up. The blue sky spread above me and flower petals of various colors were floating in the air as if they were feathers.
——Ah, today’s sky so beautiful.
