Volume 6 Chapter 6 Part 5

The water dragon howled once more, above my head. The flow of water became rougher and its head shifted towards us. I scowled right back at its glaring eyes while still hugging the princess. I clicked my tongue, although it wasn’t my intention to do so. Just like I told the man a few moments ago, it’s true that I don’t get influenced by spirits thanks to the scald on my back I got from the high tier flame spirit. That’s probably the reason I can move freely without any hindrance  in this 『Absurd aura』according to Edi. By using that ability, I’d approach the princess and I’d be a breakwater that blocks the spirit’s aura. Then, the princess’ and the water dragon’s powers would be seperated and I’d be able to suppress the dragon a bit, but it turns out I was naïve thinking like that. But even if so, I don’t want to leave the princess by herself. Of course it’s not like I don’t feel fear. But, if I think about the person in my arms, such fear fades away. I wouldn’t run away from it, even if it was meant to be swallowed by the dragon along with the princess. I wouldn’t let this hand go even if I was asked to. 

The princess’ body is so frail that it fits right into my arms and I am not even that well built. She is carrying a burden beyond my imagination with such a frail body and if she thinks that it is an obvious thing to do, then I am ok with that. But, if it is possible, I’d want her to share that burden with me, even if it’s only a tiny bit of it. Since, she’s an important friend for me. But, at this moment I had forgotten what kind of a person the princess is. 

｢I’m sorry, Filmina.｣

Princess pushed me away with both her hands. I was blown away by an unexpected strength and on top of that the flow of water separated me further from the princess. I would’ve fallen to the ground in an instant, but I was hugged and saved by the man who came running with a barrier around him. I was at loss of words at the current situation, the man hugged me and sighed in relief. I was about to call out his name and at that instance he glared at me with his sunrise-tinted eyes. 

｢Are you stupid!｣

｢I, I am sorry. But…｣

I wanted to save the princess, I can’t leave her alone. I looked at the princess from inside Edi’s arms. She was surrounded by the water dragon but still stood firmly on her feet. 

「Princess,」I muttered softly, she might’ve heard me since she looked at me and moved her pale blue lips, which were usually pink. 

｢Agedilus!｣

Edi looked at her, responding instantly to her sharp voice. Princess hugged herself with her arms wrapped around her and gave us a beautiful yet sweet smile. 

｢Leave me here and evacuate from the spring with the others.｣

｢Princess!?｣

What is she even saying? When I looked at her from Edi’s arms, she smiled at me. She’s smiling even during times like this, no it’s she’s smiling because it is a time like this and even so, I couldn’t stop but to think about how gorgeous and beautiful she is. 

｢Are you going to give the water dragon company until you run out of divine aura? If so, you are also confident that you could use a spell safely to return it after that? ｣

｢Yes, that’s exactly how it is. I want you to cover this place with a barrier.｣

｢―Have you gone insane?｣

｢I am sane, more than ever and I am serious about it. Do you think I can’t handle the water dragon when I run out of divine aura?｣

Her golden eyes shone brighter as if they were telling Edi not to underestimate her. The water dragon houled. The man clicked his tongue loudly. I could feel my face turning pale after witnessing his reaction. 

｢Edi! No, Don’t do it!｣

It must’ve been really noisy being screamed at right into the ears, but the man didn’t say anything. The man stopped me from running out of his arm towards the princess and then raised his staff once again. If everyone here left the princess and teleported, a barrier would be put to isolate her and the water dragon, then she’d probably go at it until her divine aura runs out. Then the princess will use the returning spell on the spirit after all her filth inside has been purified. But, her divine aura is directly connected to her life energy. I don’t think she’d have enough strength, stamina, and magical power to cast the returning spell after she runs out of the divine aura. Edi trusts the princess that she can do it and that’s why he is getting ready to cast the teleportation spell. But, I can’t do that. I don’t care if this is the difference between not fighting together in a life or death situation or not. I just, I just don’t want to. 

｢Princess…!｣

I don’t want to leave the princess alone. Even if I can’t help her with anything, I want to stay by her side no matter what. My feelings for her were growing greater and greater as I opened my mouth to call the princess. 

｢Clementine-sama.｣

….. But it wasn’t my voice to call her like that. At the corner of my sight, there was someone who ran towards the princess taking off his long, upper clothing. It took me some time to realize that it was the youth Heinrich. He ran toward her without caring about the might of the enraged and infuriated water dragon, his opal eyes granted by the princess shined brightly. It was bright yet wasn’t a light that would hurt your eyes. The princess widened her eyes with surprise, and I too was at loss of words. I’m out of range of the influence of the spirits, but I don’t think a normal person can reach the center of the  chaos filled with princess’ divine aura. So, how come the youth Heinrich was able to get near the princess? I didn’t word my doubt but it was something everyone felt. The man muttered in a low voice ｢So, that’s how it is｣

｢Edi?｣

｢It’s that artificial eye. That eye is filled with the princess’ divine aura.On top of that it isn’t contaminated like the princess’ aura, it’s pure divine aura. In this setting it is the whitest power here thus it won’t be consumed by any aura. ｣

The man who is putting barriers around everyone and maintaining it as we speak spoke of it as if he was impressed. He then proceeded to lift his staff to cast the teleportation spell. 

Although I had forgotten about it, it isn’t like the water dragon isn’t going berserk anymore. It was on rampage without a change and, if left like this, would destroy the walls surrounding the spring. Eventually, it would lead to the destruction of the city. It’s the reality that even I knew, there was no way the man in front of me didn’t understand it. Edi made a wry face with his beautiful features and in front of his sight was the youth Heinrich lifted up the staggering princess. 

｢Heinrich!? What are you…..!?｣

｢I was overtaken by Filmina-dono but princess, there’s no need for you to take the burden all by yourself. I should’ve realized it much sooner and should’ve told you this.｣

Heinrich smiled calmly and it didn’t fit the current situation. The princess gasped. Heinrich took out a small bottle from his pocket still holding the princess.  I immediately noticed that it was the bottle Edi had given to him, the bottle that he was so scared to let go that he carried it around with him. It was the crimson medicine bottle containing the secret medicine of the royal family. The youth Heinrich didn’t hesitate and drank it in one go and he proceeded to…

｢――!!｣

I should be praised that I didn’t scream. The sight in front of me was so shocking that it wouldn’t be a surprise if I had let out a scream. Oh my goodness, quite unexpectedly the youth Heinrich had stolen the princess’ lips right in front of my eyes. I saw her throat gulping in something from far away. Her eyes were widened with surprise and eventually the golden light from her eyes disappeared as they returned to her usual alber eyes and her eyelashes lowered. Princess lost all her power from her entire body, she became unconscious and I thought Heinrich would let her go now, but that didn’t happen. Heinrich knelt down hugging the princess as he brushed her cheeks softly.
