Volume 5 Chapter 18: The Recipient of the Message

「We’ve arrived.」

On the other side of the Spirit Road, there was bright sunlight and gently rolling hills.

And directly ahead, I could see the Spirit City of Velutina.

「Good job, my friend. Oh, this really is the Spirit City in the human world.」

As Parum had said, the road always opened near the Spirit City when I arrived.

「All right. First, Let’s head into the city and visit the magic research institute or the medical guild. We need to exchange information.」

「Agreed. I also think that the best choice is to grab someone we can talk with.」

After chatting with Daisy, I make my way into Velutina.

As I walked through the city, I suddenly saw a familiar face I saw just a few hours ago.

It’s a girl standing near the magic research institute.

「Yo, I’m back, Cattleya-san.」

I wave my hand and call out to her before she even notices me. Then—

「Oh…? Oh, Axel…!?」

With a mix of joy and surprise appearing on her face, she then runs toward me.

Then grabbing my hand tightly.

「Ooh, you do have a physical form. That means you actually have returned from the Spirit Realm!」

「Yeah, just a moment ago.」

「I’m glad you’re safe. I was confident you’d make it through the Spirit Road, but since we couldn’t contact you, was very anxious.」

「Yeah, we didn’t have any way to get in touch.」

「Yes. In the meantime, I was taking a break from everything and trying an experiment to stabilize the Spirit Road with the staff. We set up equipment across the plains and hills. I was just checking those areas now.」

So that’s why she was out here, away from the institute.

「Ah, I must’ve worried you.」

「Since you are safe it’s all good.. So, how was the Spirit City on the other side?」

Cattleya looks at me nervously.
Given everything I’d been through, it makes sense she’d be curious about it. So, I respond—

「Yeah, it was fine. The staff in Inborg were doing well.」

First, I need to reassure her. Then—

「I see, I guess knowing the name means you must’ve really gone there. Glad to hear that.」

Cattleya’s expression softened.

It’s only words, but it seems I’ve helped ease her worry somewhat.

「I met many people and got a lot of information. There’s a lot I want to talk about, but do you have time?」

「Of course.. I’ll make time if I have to. But, could you wait for a bit in the research institute meeting room?. I’ll gather some people. I’d appreciate if you do a debriefing there.」

「Oh, that’s more efficient. Got it.」

「Then I’ll dash off and gather everyone for the talk.」

With that, I return to the magic research institute, back in the human world, where I’m about to deliver my report.
