Volume 5 Chapter 22: Carrying out the Plan
After finishing the meeting in the Spirit City of Velutina, I stepped outside the city and rang the Spirit Bell.
The plan we discussed needed to be conveyed to the Spirit Realm as well.
…Even if it wasn’t fatal, the Ouroboros had taken a hit from Gale’s strike.
In such a case, it’s likely that I won’t be able to move freely, and will spend tonight recovering.
So using this opportunity to share information across both worlds and prepare seemed like the right course of action, as was decided during the meeting.
…The operation itself would begin tomorrow morning…
The information exchange has to be concluded before that.

Light suddenly appeared in front of me, and the Spirit Road emerged.
「Well, that was quick.」
It only took a few seconds after ringing the bell for the passage to open.
I don’t know how the detection works, but it’s convenient when it opens this quickly.
With that thought, I entered the Spirit Road, just like I did a few hours ago, and sped through.
In mere seconds, I arrived in the Spirit Realm, just as the evening was setting in.
「Oh, good evening, Axe-sanl.」
In the place where I arrived, Parum was waiting for me.
Looks like she was waiting for me.
「Good evening. Thanks for waiting for me, Parum, even though it’s so late.」
「It’s nothing. We already decided that once the Spirit Bell rings, I immediately create the entrance and wait… So, what brings you here this time?」
「Oh, I’ve got a lot to report and share about the situation… There’s a magical beast coming out of the Spirit Road causing trouble everywhere.」
The moment I said that, Parum’s expression changed.
「A magical beast came out of the Spirit Road…? Are you sure…?」
「Yes. I’ve got its identity already.」
Hearing that, Parum’s expression became serious.
「I see. If that’s the case, it’s definitely important. Let’s discuss it with Princess Lorie. I’ll contact the Princess right now.」

Inside the palace.
In the throne room, I relayed the reports from the human world to Lorie, Parum, and several other members of the Spirit Guild.
「An ancient dragon Ouroboros… hiding in the cross-dimension?」
Astonished Parum quietly muttered.
Lorie, sitting silently on her throne, furrowed her brows.
「This was a blind spot. I never imagined creatures that could survive in that world in-between could exist. With all those different magical energies swirling around, it’s strange that normal creatures wouldn’t just go mad.」
「The function of immediately returning to the original world after falling into the Spirit Road is meant to avoid such dangers… but ancient creatures have powerful resistances. So it makes sense they could endure it.」
Ancient creatures often possess bodies much stronger than regular magical beasts.
Ouroboros, in this case, had skin that wouldn’t even be scratched by intermediate-level magic.
「…Still, it hasn’t been confirmed that Ouroboros is the one responsible for contaminating the Spirit Spring. The fact that it lurks in the Spirit Road and bites at anything with magical energy is a fact, but it might not be the cause of the instability.」
Even if we defeat Ouroboros, the contamination of the Spirit Road and the springs may not be fixed. There’s no certainty, but that’s what I reported.
「…True. But based on circumstantial evidence, it does seem like Ouroboros is responsible. Even if not the culprit, for the safety of the Spirit Road, it must be defeated. So… we won’t hold back on support.」
Lorie concluded.
