Volume 6 Chapter 6: Start of the Trial
After soaking in the hot spring, Lorie, Daisy, and I finished our preparations for the journey to the Spring of the Spirit God.
We were now standing in front of the gate connecting the Spirit City and the surrounding plains.
「Princess, Axel-san, Daisy-san, please take care,」
Parum called out, seeing us off.
「Thanks, Parum. For everything, including helping with preparations and sending us off.」
「No, it’s the least I could do. If anything, I’m sorry I can’t be of more help beyond this.」
She bowed her head slightly, looking apologetic.
In response, Lorie, seated in her magical chair, shook her head.
「What are you saying? While I’m away, you’re the one handling both the guild and the core of city operations. That’s more than enough. It’s because you’re here that I can move freely.」
「Princess…」
Parum nodded gently.
「If anything happens, please return at once.」
「I will. But this time, I’ve got Axel and Daisy, two reliable heroes, with me. I intend to do everything I can.」
Lorie looked at me and then at Daisy, who was standing next to me in human form.
「Looks like we’re being relied on, my friend.」
「Yeah. I’ll do everything in my power as a carrier.」
Transporting people and goods is the work of a carrier.
Since I had accepted this task, I intended to fulfill it to the best of my ability.
When I told Parum that, she grasped both our hands tightly.
「…Please. Axel-san, Daisy-san. I leave the Princess in your care.」
「Roger, Parum-san.」
「Please, be safe…!」
Parum let go of our hands.
I met Lorie’s gaze. She returned a firm nod.
「Well then—shall we go?」
She turned her magical chair toward the plains and pulled out a book.
It was the Divine Codex.
「You two, come stand next to me.」
「Got it.」
Daisy and I stood beside her. After confirming that, Lorie opened the Codex.
Then—
「【Divine Codex of the Spirit God—Activate】」
She recited the incantation.
She had said this incantation had been passed down in the Spirit City since the age of the gods.
As the words were spoken—

Light began to gather on the Codex.
Glowing characters began to appear on its pages.
【Trial Initiated — Target: Lorie Nymphia
Participants: Axel Granz, Daisy Cosmos
Total: Three participants】
Without pause, the glowing characters continued across the blank pages.
The content of the trial was written:
【Proceed along the designated path and reach the final destination】
Just as we’d been told—follow a specific path.
Then the glowing text flowed to the page with the map.
【Upon completing the designated route, entry to the Spring of the Spirit God will be granted】
With that, the writing stopped.
「Well then, all that’s left is to proceed.」
Lorie looked at the map and said this.
「Yeah. Do you know where the first checkpoint is?」
「Yes. See the glowing dot on the map? That’s where we head first. Right now, it’s just straight ahead.」
「Alright. Let’s make our way there and get a feel for what this trial is like.」
「Agreed. Let’s go.」
And so we began moving forward.
Leaving behind the Spirit City, we stepped onto the path that would lead us toward the divine realm.

A single sentence appeared for just a few seconds on the final page of the Divine Codex.
It was not part of any rule. Just a casual, carefree sentence.
And precisely because it was so carefree, it was not something the gods intended to show, nor something they meant for anyone to read. Just a casual remark.
