Chapter 118

Under the gallery where Prince Sperion and Princess Frau were seated, the various headmasters highly skilled in magic were positioned to act as a defensive shield for the royal family in the event of an emergency.

Once Vair’s defeat was announced following the defeats of Ashas and Elmer, the atmosphere in the stands where the headmasters were started to shift. Shunail, the headmaster of Tardat Magic Academy, closed her eyes briefly and let out a sigh once her students whom she had brought up with great care lost one match after another.

Eksu and many others were elite students selected to represent their academies as contestants. Yet, it was hard to deny that the students of Galois Magic Academy were even more formidable.

「Goodness, your students are terrifying. I send my best students out, but I have to admit that your students are even more impressive.」

Olivier responded with a light nod to Shunail’s honest evaluation. Even though Nelneshia and Phenia were rare prodigies, Olivier was well aware of the true natures of Christina, Lenia, and Dran. With this knowledge in mind, she genuinely felt that there was no need for Shunail to feel so apologetic. Rather, Olivier reckoned that she should be the one apologizing instead.

「Don’t worry about it. As Ms. Merle has pointed out, the students of Tardat are astoundingly skilled. Besides, we still have the semifinals and finals. If you speak in this manner without waiting for the results, they will be angry.」

Despite this statement, the remaining contestants from Galois Magic Academy just happened to be Lenia and Dran. This order of participation had been the result of drawing lots, and Olivier had no reason to apologize. However, a need to kowtow in apology surged within her.

Olivier was hardly involved in the admission of Lenia and Dran to Galois Magic Academy, and everything had just been a product of coincidence. Hence, there was no need for Olivier to disparage or fault herself for this matter.

Olivier was blameless for this turn of events. Yet, she was certain that the other headmasters would protest in indignation that Galois Magic Academy was flouting the rules if they knew about the true natures of Lenia and Dran.

Lenia was the reincarnation of the strongest and most evil divine beast created by the great evil god Caravis with the genes of the Ancient-Celestial Dragon Dragon. As for Dran, he was the reincarnation of the Ancient-Celestial Dragon Dragon that birthed Lenia. Even though his soul had degenerated due to his rebirth, he still possessed enough strength to be titled the strongest in the entire world.

As the headmaster of Galois Magic Academy, Olivier was simply fortunate that these two had reincarnated at the same time and enrolled in her academy. Though, the same could not be said of the other headmasters.

There was nobody in the entire world who could overpower Lenia and Dran, let alone those affiliated with the Magic Academies. Dran, who spoke to the supreme gods equally, was a transcendent being who belonged to a much more dignified realm than even Yggdrasil whom Olivier, as a high elf, regarded as a god. In fact, Dran was a heavenly existence that Olivier should not be worthy enough to see, hear, or speak to.

Such a transcendent being clearly expressed a desire to be treated as a student and showed his respect to Olivier. Hence, Olivier could only behave as a headmaster to him, while being in the know of the truth.

Presently, Olivier interacted with Dran in the role of a headmaster, though she could not help but grow flustered each time she met Dran in person. Worry would fill her heart, piling up endlessly as her anxiety weighed down on her.

At the very least, Olivier desperately wished to be able to treat Dran as the majestic Ancient-Celestial Dragon he was, and relegate herself to being nothing more than an unassuming high elf before those who knew about Dran’s reincarnation.

Olivier could not help but envy and fear Selina, Dramina, and Diadora. They might be Dran’s fiancées, but it was rather striking how they could continue to interact with Dran fearlessly despite knowing about his identity as Dragon. Moreover, Dran’s dragon siblings had recently descended to the suburbs of Galois to greet their future sister-in-law, Selina.

When Olivier had received news about the special training these dragons would engage in with Phenia and Nelneshia in preparation for the Magic Tournament, she had accepted it expressionlessly. However, she had undergone quite a tortuous experience back then as her mind had gone blank for a moment.

Dran, who was not fond of reading the minds of others, could only deduce Olivier’s thoughts through her demeanor, expression, and behavior. The fact that Olivier had not been startled silly by the news of his identity as an Ancient-Celestial Dragon was proof enough to Dran of her astounding courage. Yet, the reality was far different from Dran’s assumptions.

Diadora, who was far more well acquainted with Olivier, had noticed that Olivier’s heart was racing under that blank look. However, Diadora had kept silent to protect Olivier’s reputation.

As the headmaster, Olivier was elated to witness the extraordinary growth of Christina, Phenia, and Nelneshia after special training with these exalted beings. It was as though they had undergone centuries of hard work. Even though Olivier had readied herself to watch Lenia’s match, she could feel her stomach start to lurch.

Dran had lived humbly for sixteen years, and he was a gentle person. Thus, there was not much for Olivier to worry about when it came to Dran’s match. The real problem was Lenia.

For this young lady who had been titled the Destroyer, her match was bound to be rough. Olivier was certain that with Dran present, Lenia was going to slip up in manipulating her overwhelming strength in her eagerness. With this thought in mind, Olivier felt as burdened as though she had drunk lead.

Meanwhile, Halvana, the headmaster of Jiel Magic Academy, noticed Olivier’s somewhat ailing expression and spoke to her in a cheerful voice. Lovely round ears peeked out of Halvana’s long dark brown locks, and a fluffy tail with brown and black stripes protruded from under her navy skirt.

Halvana was a Raccoonian who looked like a girl in her late teens, with round eyes and a petite build that exuded calmness.

「That being said, Phenia-chan and Nelenshia-chan were amazing at last year’s tournament, but they’re even more impressive this year. This is especially so of the first contestant, Christina-chan. She’s just as the rumors described, a truly formidable fighter. I can see that talks of her being the strongest of Galois’s Top Four are true.」

Despite being in her thirties, Halvana appeared to be nothing more than an innocent girl. The headmasters were not the only ones who were fond of her, but the magic users in Arkrest Kingdom fawned over her as well.

As for Olivier, she was so old that even calling her Halvana’s grandmother would be inappropriate. Hence, Olivier tended to look upon Halvana even more affectionately.

Setting these feelings aside, Olivier’s subsequent remark astonished Halvana, as well as Shunail, Croy, and Lognall.

「That’s not true. Christina may have improved tremendously ever since she enrolled this year, and defeated Phenia and Nelshenia in the mock matches, but the title of strongest of the Top Four doesn’t belong to her.」

Olivier denied that Christina was the strongest among the Top Four, despite affirming that Christina had defeated Phenia and Nelneshia. Thus, there was only one other person who could claim the title of the strongest out of Galois Magic Academy’s Top Four.

Even though Christina’s magic was not as flashy as Phenia’s or Nelneshia’s, the headmasters could sense the limitless potential of her combat abilities. As a result, they had come to the conclusion that Christina was the strongest of the Top Four.

「What?! Well, does that mean Lenia, who’s about to fight, is the strongest out of Galois’s Top Four?」

Halvana widened her pearly eyes and exclaimed on behalf of the rest of the headmasters.

Extraordinary defense abilities, physical prowess that even magical sight failed to detect, the strange ability to shatter spells automatically even without the use of counterspells, and the offensive might capable of crushing multiple layers of reinforced shields.

Chiristina possessed all these, and still had energy to spare. Yet, there was a student from Galois who could triumph her.

「That’s right. The strongest of Galois’s Top Four is without a doubt Lenia Rufful Blaster Blast.」

Olivier never told lies. Galois’s Top Four referred to Phenia, Nelneshia, Christina, and Lenia. Out of these four, Lenia was indubitably the strongest. However, her answer would have been different if the headmasters were discussing the strongest out of Galois Magic Academy or the contestants from Galois. In that case, the right answer would have been Dran.
